Re: Around the NFL Week 17

I f Wentz shines the next 2+ games I'd bring him back but it would have to be on a renegotiated deal. He stank before the injury and didn't show enough in garbage time against SF to warrant anything long term.

TH will likely cost too much to keep as a backup, but he would be a good safety blanket if we can do a reasonable deal. Given what he's done he deserves to get his money, but I don't think it should be us forking out.

Ideally Howell pushes Wentz hard in camp and earns the backup role outright, if not actually deserving starter. Agree with picking up a guy in the draft, but only if BPA. IF Howell does show something we don't want to be wasting a pick on another QB that likely won't see the field, and then miss out on needs (OL, LB, DB).

If Wentz stinks and Howell doesn't look like the man then I think strategy has to be go high in the draft for a QB. I'd maybe sniff around Carr for a cheap deal, but definitely not offer the farm for him. He strikes me as a kind of TH but with an arm. As a 1-2 year placeholder until we the right guy in teh draft, I'd be OK with that.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

I hope Howell is forced into action and absolutely crushes it against Dallas. Somehow we manage the win against Cleveland in the mean time. Than we go into next year with our guy and we can always get a backup. Pipe dream i know. No way im paying Taylor some crazy amount to stay on as a backup.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

Unless someone is hurt Howell won't even be active.

Something else, if there is a QB in the first or second round this year and we think he can be the guy. Draft him.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

The QB class is weak. Bryce Young is a stud but other than him who is left? Stroud? He looks like another OSU system QB.

Will Levis has potential but so does Sam Howell.

Richardson from UF?

So yeah I’m hoping Wentz balls out the next 2 weeks and plays well in the playoffs, he’s on our team now and he’s not old so we all should hope he’s actually good.

TH is a backup and a good one

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

Maybe I am in the minority but I'm not the biggest fan of Bryce Young. Great college player, checks most boxes but he is just way too small. I don't even think he's 200 lbs and doesn't crack 6'0. Idk. I wouldn't draft him in the first round. And I'm not touching Stroud that high either. I see both as 3rd rounders.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

This off season there's going to be a lot of movement w/ the QB's. No way is Brady going to retire now that his wife is gone. He's going to try and play two more years I feel. Since the Raiders are moving Carr perhaps Brady ends up in Vegas w/ that clown McDaniels.

Where will Carr go? New England? If Brady leaves or retires that leaves a hole in TB. Does Goff stay in Detroit? Will Denver bring in someone to push Wilson? If I were them I would.

Denver can’t afford that.

TB12 is interesting to me. Would he come to Washington for one year with a new owner? I think he’s almost done but he’s still top 5 in passing lol.

Goff won’t leave, they actually like him a lot from what I’ve read

Brady behind our current line would be a tragic comedy. He would get killed.

Eye liner wearing Derek Carr would be realistically the best we could hope for imo.

Hes a low end functional QB, which is a huge compliment. We havent had a functional NFL qb since Cousins.

Tier above the wentz/darnold/mayfield/foles/brissett/trubisky/winston/marriotta dump.

-----

If we dont get a tier 2 QB ... it doesnt matter if we sign a LT, hit on a mid round LB draft pick, we will be always somewhere below .500

Lots of things WENT RIGHT this year, on an easy schedule .. and we are below .500

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

I'd take Carr over what we have right now if they all had reasonable contracts. But they don't.

We need Howell to be a functional QB. That is what would be best. A cheap QB under contract for 3 more years would be sweet.

Carr is the NFL's version of Linda Lovelace, a choker. No thx

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

Carr struggled this year with Adams and Josh Jacobs both being top 10 in yards… I agree with SF on this one… no thanks.

We need to stop this Bs of signing other teams washed up QBs. It never ever works.

If Rodgers stays in GB (word is he will) then we should offer a 5 for Love who has shown he can sling it and is young with potential.

No more Carr, Wentz , Alex Smith, Mcnabb etc.

Get a young guy

Realistic v Dreams

2021 - Carr went for 4,804 yds, 68.4% completion %, 23 titties, 14 ints
2022 - Josh McDaniels became his head coach and play caller

yall are tripping if think Carr = Wentz

If we find this young top 15 Qb who has yet to have a name .. sign me up.

Until then, we are fortunate the dysfunctional Raiders may be parting with their functional QB. Wed be lucky if Carr ended up here.

Id love to go back to the Cousins era where we talked about going through 2nd and 3rd reads too quickly vs this pee wee 1-read QB play.

Cousins is way better than Carr. Carr has a bunch of meaningless stats and when he has to come through pressure he folds like a flower. I don’t want someone like him.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

Carr is probably better than Wentz but he’s not that much better and we’d have to trade for him.. LV would probably want a 3rd which is fine if he comes in and leads us to a division title BUT is Carr better than Dak or Hurts? Probably not and we need a dude that can be better than those guys. Yeah it’s hard I get it but you keep trying.

Yeah if we have a QB graded first or second and can make it happen have to do it. No big trade ups though. As we appear to still be in QB purgatory this article still has merit although they need to update their research.

Ha! Speaking of the Cowboys.... It's still early in the game but Tennessee looks to be done.

EDIT: I wasn't aware of the Titans' injuries throughout the past two seasons. It was a heckuva feat for them to garner the 1-seed in the AFC a season ago.

Cowboys going to go 12-5. But still come in 2nd place and lose in the Wild Card round.

Re: Around the NFL Week 17

You put Wentz behind a top OLine and he will produce .. but with our pass blocking he likely will fail .. it’s not all on the QB . Taylor worked because he could escape and keep the play alive .. he threw up so many passes that were at best 50/50 ..it is hard to watch him pass .. At least Wentz has the ARM and I actually believe the Oline steps up and we win BIG vs Cleveland..

Commanders 35
Browns 17

Still full. I'll just post it here:

Wow, what a game. Oklahoma took it to us all game. Definitely could argue y'all outplayed us.

Our offense just makes lots of chunk plays that can cover up for things.

Glad Venables isn't at Clemson anymore. Best of luck next year.

That is more about the injury guarantee on his contract. Anytime he is at the facility if he gets an injury they are on hook for his $40m salary next year, if he stays away they can cut him for a $5m cap hit in February. It is LV, not Carr, that is making him step away from the team

Maybe. But they're worried about Carr getting hurt by what exactly? If you aren't actually practicing, you're not gonna get hurt.

Any injury on site counts. If he works out in the gym or even trips and falls. While on premises it counts as a workplace injury.
