The Commanders are releasing CB Rachad Wildgoose , per source (@Sam4TR 1st).
Rachad Wildgoose whispers as he was cut “Troy Apke survives” |
Re: Cuts begin
Cutting Larsen and Mason Brooks says a lot about Stromberg. That's broadcasting confidence that he can be active on gameday and back up both Gates and the G spots.
They'll get Brooks to the PS if he doesn't get picked up and Larsen will stay on speed dial. |

Another who will make the initial roster per source: TE Curtis Hodges. Big man who can run. Still developing |

The Commanders are releasing FB/TE Alex Armah, per source. Armah likely re-signs with Washington later this week. |

Re: Cuts begin
Lil surprise about Curtis Hodges making it, heard he had a quiet camp. The other day Ben Standig said something like “meh” when he was brought up.
Wonder how healthy is Logan Thomas carrying that big cap number…also wonder if they would bring in a TE from the waiver sire and send Hodges to PS. |

Lots of teams were supposedly chasing Mason Brooks when they signed him, find it difficult to believe there are any waiting to grab Hodges into their 53. He needs too much work. If Armani Rodgers hadn't been injured they wouldn't have given Hodges a second thought, but he is still the same guy. |

Brooks!

Re: Cuts begin
It's pretty hard for me to get upset about the decision not to keep Fromm on the 53 man roster. While he did play well in the preseason against dudes who, for the most part aren't even in the NFL today, I would rather use that roster spot for somebody who might actually see the field this year.

Fromm and Jabril Cox ex cowboy LB signed to PS

Cox is an interesting move, I remember there were some talks about Cox becoming an immediate contributor for Cowboys when he was drafted. Hopefully our coaches will have better luck with him. |
Re: Cuts begin/roster moves
Cowboys wanted Cox back on their PS, but he chose Washington
We need LB help, like the move |
Re: Cuts begin/roster moves
John Ridgeway 2.0? I hope so. Its more satisfying when the guys we pick up cost the Cowboys a mid round pick.
Mike Garafolo The #Commanders are signing LB Jabril Cox to their practice squad, source says. The #Cowboys discussed bringing him back on their practice squad, but Cox opts for the fresh start elsewhere in the NFC East with a team that had a high grade on him before the 2021 NFL Draft. |
Re: Cuts begin/roster moves
No Wildgoose or Milo Eifler, interesting

Re: Cuts begin/roster moves
Young seems like he is made of glass. I think there is something else besides a stinger that is going on. Wondering if we should just trade him for draft pick(s)when he gets healthy.

Yeah I wouldn't oppose to this idea since we likely have to choose between him and Sweat, so might as well as trade him to get something higher than 3rd round comp pick. |

I'd be fine with that. |

Nah, let him come back and pile up a bunch of sacks before we sell high. Right now his trade value is tanked. |
Re: Cuts begin/roster moves
Restructured Charles Leno's contract to create cap space. Oftentimes means another move is afoot.

https://nfltraderumors.co/commanders-restructure-contract-of-ot-charles-leno/
Lots of teams doing this , they need $5m of cap space to get through the season.. . But it keeps Lenos cap hit on the books longer after next year, so they may be content with keeping him. Basically borrowing from next years cap |
