This is a good read on Kliff's air raid scheme from the 2021 season.
https://weeklyspiral.com/2021/09/24/the-good-and-bad-of-kliff-kingsbury-and-arizona-offense/ Has some good and some bad about the system he ran, I am sure it won't be the same as what we run. We don't have AJ Green, Hopkins or Zach Ertz. I would also assume he has learned from what hasn't worked.
Kyle's injuries also derailed Kliff as well ; i have said this before but football is so many moving parts its hard to pin point one part that is the absolute cause of failure You have to build a synergy of parts that work well together and that may mean bringing in a "broken" part from another machine that then eventually works well for you |

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Thread
It’s a Big hire though, when would anyone like KK come to DC before?
Also the list of QBs he’s had is legit Baker Kyler Mahomes Caleb In AZ they had a top 10 offense twice with him as the HC / OC. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Huh? He went to the Cardinals, the cheapest tightest team in the NFL. |
Re: Kliff Kingsbury Thread
Kyler Murray was his downfall!!! Murray was an over spoiled immature little brat that blamed everyone around him for his own failures. Called out teammates. Larry Fitzgerald retired a couple of years early because he didn't want anything to do with Murray. The Cardinals biggest problem was everyone babied Murray, including Kingsbury. He had no balls to tell Murray to shut the hell up and start studying. Either did the front office. They wrote it into the contract that Murray signed. Then when it became public and Murray cried they removed the language out and resigned a revamped contract.
His last injury and everyone around him losing their jobs because of him seems to have humbled him a bit. He was the biggest reason for Kingsbury's failures . . . plus their defense was terrible and their GM was drafting worse than Rivera!! |

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Thread
Kliff calls a modern offense and has experience w/ young, big name QB's. I think this is about as good as a hire as possible. I think this has a very high ceiling.

Please just stick at 2 and select the highest rated QB remaining. It's a 50/50 bust rate, maybe we will finally win the coin toss. |

Very accurate. Boss is outside of Phoenix and season ticket holder. Kyler is a lazy piece of garbage who worked to get KK out of town. |

Per Keim, UNC offense’s version of the air raid offense is one both Sam and Drake excelled in is extremely similar to what KK ran. Also, KK runs the ball well. This is good news for Sam and doesn’t necessarily mean Calab is the only fit for KK. Drake would be a fit as well. |

And let’s start this rebuild with a solid foundation and then stock the pipeline with future Ben Johnsons and Kyle Shanahans. We can try moonshots after we’ve rebuilt the launchpad. Yes, please stick at #2. Maybe a May/Howell 1-2 would be a good thing. Either way, I'm not a fan of trading up...too costly. |
Re: Kliff Kingsbury Thread
Just taking a wait and see on this. I actually like the Quinn hire more than KK but we'll see. I have just seen the air raid for so many years. It had another name in the 80's & 90's, run and shoot.
It just never works when it comes down to having to win playoff games. Also these types of offenses never feature a TE or a fullback. It's wr heavy which means less protection. Sure it may pile up yards for the stat nerds, but does it actually win games? Does it win games when the weather gets bad? No. Going back to when Quinn was in Atl, why didn't he just hire someone from Kyle's tree? That offense basically carried him to a SB. Ryan won an MVP. He had several guys he could have got but instead went w/ KK. |
Just what we needed, another failed head coach.
:Flush:
I wonder if Patriots fans said that when Belichick was hired. Or Chiefs fans with Andy Reid. Or Seahawks fans with Pete Carroll. There are many examples of guys who did far better in round 2. No guarantees of course - there are plenty of examples of guys who didn’t improve. But my point is that we can’t know whether DQ or KK will have more success here than in previous stints. I trust Peters to be a better judge of that than I am. And I’ll be cautiously optimistic until there’s reason to feel otherwise. Man, the last 25 years has done a number on us all. Effing Snyder. Stole the joy of football from us for decades and rode off with $6B. I hope his yacht sinks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Bold prediction lol! |
Re: Kliff Kingsbury Thread
I can only go by what people in the business, people who actually know unlike media and fans, are saying. And it sounds like this was a damned good hire.
Not they would or should pick the QB based entirely on the coordinator but if they do select Maye, which I always believed they would do even before the coordinator was named, this will help his transition as he played in this offense in college. |

As someone who lives in Arizona I agree. Kliff had it going here and it slowly fell apart. Murray was a big part of the problem |

Re: Kliff Kingsbury Thread
I have to say, from what I’ve been reading about the hiring process, I’m impressed - they wanted to be thorough and methodical even if it meant that candidates they liked dropped out of the process because of offers from other teams. Such a refreshing departure from the rash decision-making that plagued this franchise for 24 years.
And that Quinn really tried to understand the good and bad from his previous HC stint is also encouraging. At a minimum, he will bring more energy than the statue we’ve had on the sidelines in recent years. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
