Re: WTF was that post game thread
Eagles are a solid team. There is nothing to get all depressed about.
Our team is heading in the right direction, that is the most important thing. It’s funny we were 7-2 team having not played any one of the top teams except Ravens and Pittsburg, and people became delusional. Reality check: We are not yet to the level of Chiefs and Lions. Before the game last night I was hoping we would win last night, but the realist in me said would would most likely lose. I felt the same way before Pittsburg game because of all of our injuries. No need to hang our heads. Once we get Marshon starting the team might raise to another level for us. Not until then. |

If Daniels had been truly healthy, we'd have seen a different player, and likely different outcomes, the past two games, regardless of the Steelers and Eagles being solid defensively. He couldn't step into his throw due to his ribs affecting him. I think he tweaked his ribs on Sunday. Per JP Finlay via Ron Jaworski: More from @JawsCEOQB on Jayden Daniels : "I'm not seeing the same fast twitch. The injury is an issue....He's the best rookie QB I've ever seen but he wasnt last night...I look at the mechanics and they were off." Re: WTF was that post game thread
So ugly game after coming off an emotional and close game against the Steelers. We had a lead in the second half against both teams - teams that aren’t in year 1 of a rebuild like we are, and with a rookie QB. And teams that unlike WSH have had the rest of a bye week already.
We are definitely a few players away from consistently competing well against those teams, and even with last night’s implosion, you can see it. We had held the Eagles to 6 points at home through 3 quarters. That’s not a small achievement, although no moral victories in football. We obviously need help in several areas - but I trust AP to fix it. He can’t do it all in one season but we are light years ahead of where we had any reasonable right to expect. With this leadership group, I feel we will get there. Oh, and a fuck you to the Giants for giving Saquon to the Eagles. Nice job, dipshits. He’s a legit MVP candidate. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I saw this coming. You knew there was going to be a point in the season where we saw regression. The most important thing right now is are we competitive against some of the best teams. Yes we are. Last year? Nope. So I will take it year one of a rebuild. JD needs to get healthy cause he obviously isn't. That injury is throwing him off no pun intended. It's pretty obvious on some of his throws he was not driving the ball. All upper body and sloppy footwork. Yeah and how dumb are the Giants? How did those idiots think that was going to turn out w/ SaQuan running behind that line? |

People rightfully shitted all over the defense the first 4-5 week, they have better. More middle of the road than bottom half, that’s an improvement
I am actually feeling optimistic. I believe we are top 10-15 offense and defense right now. After what was left for this team in terms of talent, this is quite an accomplishment. |
I dont think JD is hurt as bad as some are assuming.. He was off because Philly locked down Terry and he had nobody else to throw to..
every player on the eagles dline was running him down from behind, he was SLOW last night. He was faster and throwing better during the Bears game. He has gotten progressively worse each game he played since the injury. Then watch his arms. His left arm is kept right at his side most of the time, even during his throwing motions at times (not every time). That is why he is so inaccurate! If it were up to me we would roll with MM until after the bye. I think we would be fine and would win both games and JD would be in far better shape to take us to the playoffs and hopefully far into. |

He's not elusive, no jerky jerky (on the run), questionable accuracy, and indecisive (the injury has him second guessing and playing slower than usual). The defense has been playing better since the beginning of the season, so I have a bit of faith in Mariota for a week or two. It'll also likely allow Kingsbury to open up his playbook as well. We've come too far for this staff to muck this season away. They have time to right the ship and (hopefully) make the correct decisions. |

Re: WTF was that post game thread
I think the faster than anticipated success for this team - whether it be because they are much better than last year, because they have played sub-par teams, or a combination of the two - may have raised my expectations to a level higher than what they should be. I think that's a good thing though. I'd rather have high expectations for this team that sometimes aren't met, than no expectations at all.
I expected them to win one of these last two games, and thought they had a decent chance to win both. It turns out they didn't win either, but I still think they had a pretty good chance to win both of them. They just have to learn how to be closers... They could still win out, but they could also go 3-3. The toughest game will be the Eagles rematch, but none of them will be "easy". I imagine these last two losses will leave a bad taste in their mouths, but they have an opportunity to get a little healthier over the next 10 days. Then they have an opportunity to show us and themselves what they are made of down the stretch. Even if it's a wildcard berth, that's significant progress. If it's a division title, that's more than any of us could have hoped for this year. |
Re: WTF was that post game thread
they have already exceeded my expectations.. if we just beat the teams we are supposed to beat that's over 10 wins .. once playoffs starts anything can happen ..

You play around with this site and predict the season and the playoffs all the way to the superbowl. It would take a complete collapse for us not to finish at least 10-7. 3-3 finish seems doable. Beating Dallas, Tennessee and New Orleans. I think we sweep Dallas, so that's a 4-2 finish. |

Re: WTF was that post game thread
Tough loss. Either Daniels is still hurt some or was off just off more than usual. I know Eagles have a good defense, but he just didn't seem as electric and missed more passes than usual. Disheartening. Jalen Carter is an absolute monster. Wow. This game, similarly, to Pittsburgh exposed our weaknesseses: oline, corners, and wrs. True SB contenders in today's NFL cannot have any weak units.
Looking forward to a much needed break and smoking the Girls soon. |

Re: WTF was that post game thread
1) His ribs are still healing up. That much is obvious from the treatment on the side line every game since.
2) He had a bad cut on his hand during the game. It's unsurprising if that impacted his grip and thus his throwing after he got hurt. Neither injury should need extensive healing with exclusion from training. If the medics didn't think he could play with either/both injuries, Mariota would have been out there. AP and DQ are not going to risk a franchise QB unnecessarily in the middle of a rebuild season, even if we're doing unexpectedly well. They're not idiots. Players get banged up, its football, and yes it does affect their play. He's getting 3 or 4 good days rest and treatment now before going back into training. I expect him to be in much better playing shape 8 days from now. If they feel he needs more healing time, now we have the opportunity, expect to see him held out of or on light training until Wednesday or Thursday. Something tells me he'll be back a practice as normal, first session. And he'll be fine. |

St Juste came out of Thursday with a good rating. That's the frustrating thing with him, he can play really well, but you never know which version you're going to get week to week. |

Only team doctor's know just how bad it is, but they should definitely rest him as long as there is a good chance he makes his injury worse. |
Re: WTF was that post game thread
I think the he'll play if the doctors say he can shoul not be the determining factor alone. I think it should be which QB gives you a better chance of winning. The argument would be is an 80% Jayden Daniels more effective than a 100% backup? We are learning the answer. He was quite average to me on Sunday, arguably bottom 10. Loyalty in tough times is noble, but at some point you need to make tough decisions and trust your eyes. I personally would have pulled Jayden. But the recent miracle worker event may have blinded him like it has to the fan base. The reality is he has seem to have lost his secret weapon, his legs, and now he looks human. The scheme adjustment also tells you they know he is limited, so the he's fine really means, yeah, we know hes injured but were gunna play him anyways because hes unlikely to make it worse. And yeah, although he cant run with any sort if twitch, and he cant pass accurately, hes still better than Marriota (although Mariotta played very well iff the bench and went up and down the field on a bad team). If Marriotta played in the second half, we may have beaten Philly, thats why we pay him like 10m a year. So yeah, ee lost this game due to coaching primarily. That plus the 4th down go for it

Heck, we saw it with RG3 when he was cleared by team personnel (medics and trainers), as well as by Dr. Andrews. It was transparent RG3 was hurt in our final two regular season games that year versus the Eagles and Cowboys. You could visibly see on read options as he was practically dragging his injured leg whenever he kept the ball. It was only a matter of time before he seriously injured himself and, unfortunately, it occurred. Again, he too was cleared to play. I suspect Daniels is telling the coaching staff and medics/trainers that he can functionally play through the pain. My eyes is telling me that isn't the case. He and Quinn are BS'in everyone, including themselves, by stating Daniels' injury isn't affecting him. I and everyone else saw him pre-injury, and he ain't the same. I had suspicions he reinjured himself, if he wasn't already injured, versus Pittsburgh last Sunday. Here's the play in particular when I knew for sure he was injured.... The last play of the 3rd quarter when Cam Heyward sacked Daniels. Now, Heyward did get up on Daniels sort of quickly, but I'm rather confident pre-injured Daniels would've recognized it a bit sooner and avoided Heyward. Daniels looked somewhat stiff and slow to react (he's a quick twitch player), and I said to myself, "Something looks off, and I sense his ribs are affecting his movement." But I didn't wanna believe that was the case. I think a couple of Daniels' misses last Sunday was more about him being injured more so than the Steelers' D rushing him into quicker decisions. Thursday night only reaffirmed what I thought last Sunday. A healthy Daniels would've rocked the Eagles, after all those early empty possessions, had he been healthy. I'm confident in saying that much. I also think we would've beaten the Steelers with a healthy Daniels. No one will convince me differently. The coaching staff blew the game (Thursday night), and Daniels should've been pulled in favor of Mariota. |
Re: WTF was that post game thread
I suspect this staff are already considering the history with RG3 and won't risk JD if it look pointless letting him play hurt. He's going to get best part of a weeks reast and treatment before the next game. I don't think they'll take a stupid risk, you do, agree to disagree?
One thing though, it's a rib injury. RG3 was a knee and that's a much more serious injury; he should never have played on it. If JD had done his knee I'd wholeheartedly agree with letting him heal completely before he sees the field again. A rib injury, barring a break, should heal reasonably quickly, especially with reest and treatment. |

Whether, it's Daniels knee or ribs, he shouldn't be playing if it's affecting his play..... Which his play is being affected. That is the main point I'm attempting to make. Daniels isn't effective, and he shouldn't be playing. The playbook was being minimized on Thursday based on his effectiveness or ineffectiveness. He should sit until he can effectively function. Period. |

Re: WTF was that post game thread
Yea kliff calling a shit game and o line being banged up as hell also negatively impact the qb, as we all know. That happened Thursday and the dude cut the shit out of his throwing hand as well... tape might be out but guess what it's the coaches job to scheme better and call a better game .... everyone has tape... everyone. JD5 is decisive and accurate and scary elusive.... but not when he's hurting.
Opposing defenses will continue to play wide 9 and send pressure... they will continue to take advantage of the banged up, over performing o-line... that's the sport we watch and offer our "2 cents" on. None of this is shocking nor out of the norm. Our o line played better than they are IMO so far this year, plenty of work to do there. Kliff has to be better and JD needs to heal and rest. The Uber analysis and trying to pin point issues isn't that hard but there's always gonna be something to pick at. Injuries are hard to account for whilst scratching our heads as to why we lost or look like shit. So be it. We are 7-4 and we'll see how this plays out but imo the tape is more telling of kliff, not JD, if anything "tape" related is hurting us. Rant over. |
