If you told me at the beginning of the year I’d be upset that Mariota wouldn’t have Treylon Burks to throw to as we took on the Dolphins in Madrid, I would’ve asked you to launch me into the god damn sun. And here we are |
Re: Injuries, injuries, injuries
Burks has been injury prone ever since he was drafted by the Titans. Nothing is going to change because he is here. His body is not built for the rigors of NFL football. It sucks because the raw talent is there, but there is no way you can count on a guy like that.

I fully expect 1-2 new guys going on IR every week at this point. |

This is one of the reasons I am not in "all is lost" mode. Injury situation is ridiculous. I think this season is lost, let's just survive it, and regroup for next season |

Yep, at this point, I hope the coaches will start playing young players more to see what we can get out of them for next year. |

Exactly, and the payoff for our suffering will be a top 5 pick in all likelihood |

Absolutely. Although the play on D goes beyond injuries hopefully DQ taking over provides better play. |

I agree. The D goes beyond injuries.. All of the LB's are the same as last year. They make zero plays and are horrible in space. To me that is part coaching and part lack of talent. I would have told Wagner and Ertz, thank you for last year but we need to part ways. Part of being a good GM is getting rid of old guys at the right time. Trading for Lattimore was dumb as the Saints could not wait to trade him. You have to be able to realize that an often-injured corner is not going to push you over the top. |

I would have told Wagner and Ertz, thank you for last year but we need to part ways. Part of being a good GM is getting rid of old guys a year too late. I'd rather get them off my team at the right time. Trading for Lattimore was dumb as the Saints could not wait to trade him. You have to be able to realize that an often-injured corner is not going to push you over the top.[/quote] Luvu and Wagner are the same guys, but Hampton washed out. I think Magee is one of the few positives this year, Luvu could succeed again in the right scheme, but Wagner is done. His heart is still in it 100% but his body isn't and he surely retires at year end. Once DQ sees the season is over, he needs to get a good look at the depth, by getting those guys on the field and see what shakes out. I think a lot of it is coaching and age combined. Wagner still has the heart, but we should have seen how his skills were diminishing and let him go. Ertz puzzles me, and I think his hearts gone. He obviously can still play as he's getting open a lot, but his drops and general concentration isn't there (dropping short on 4th down?). It's like he has one foot out the door already. Get Sinnott on the field and playing the bulk of reps. See what you actually have. We needed a corner, we just traded for the wrong one. I suspect AP learned a lesson from this. We haven't traded for a washed up DE have we? |
