Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
There's no question that we will see a drop off in quality of LT with Coleman or anyone else - there is a reason why Tunsil is paid as one of top LTs in NFL. But there's also no question that we are still a playoff contender team.

Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
Mostly meaningless but still interesting to see the unofficial depth chart as it uncovers two nuggets: (1) Amos is listed as starter over Douglas, so this means they expect Amos to be ready for the season. (2) Reaves is listed as a starter for FS instead of Martin..

Looks like we are rolling with Coleman. |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
When he was a starting LT (albeit as a rookie), Coleman was solid (0 sacks, 1 QB pressure across his starts, but overall 64 PFF -- 51/89 Ts -- https://www.pff.com/nfl/players/brandon-coleman/123068) but not in Tunsil's league, for sure. The problem is that our division boasts some elite rushers (and we're playing the Rams -- I can only imagine what the combo of Donald and Garrett is going to do to teams this year).
I hope Coleman has improved (and I've always liked him as a player) because if we're trotting him out at LT, his pass blocking is going to need to improve a lot since his rookie season. Not saying it won't or can't, but if it hasn't, I wonder whether they're considering moving him to RT and sliding Conley over to the left (as word is that he's really taken a step forward this year, under Tunsil's wing). I know that's not a simple fix, but it is still a month away from week 1. |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
Signed Taylor Decker apparently. He was about 10 spots (PFF) ahead of Coleman at OT. But I suspect he's insurance and that they'll roll with Coleman.
EDIT: OK, so that may not be the case. I had read it in one of the BR report articles I was reading, but I cannot see anything confirming it. Sorry for the false alarm. |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
The problem with losing a guy is if the next guy gets hurt.
The drop of from Tunsil to Coleman is significant, mainly because Tunsil is a Top 3 LT in the NFL. But the drop off from Coleman to whoever is the 3rd LT is going to be a huge fucking drop off from Tunsil. This injury is a giant fuck you to our season for this cursed fucking franchise. |

I was excited. Because like SD said - we are one injury away from a top 5 pick. I actually have confidence in Coleman, but if he gets hurt well…… |
2026 Commanders Training Camp
Very sorry about that. Thought about just deleting the post but worried it would create more confusion. Total gaffe on my part.
I am hopeful that Coleman is ready for the next step and that this becomes a pivotal part of his development into an eventual long term starter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
I would still sign Decker asap. He has a history with David Blough. Need to maximize JD5's rookie contract and the upgrades on the team. Decker has experience and is a solid left tackle. Signing him also immediately gives us more depth. Even a 1 year deal works at this point until Tunsil is good. Sign him.

Doubt he is looking to sign to be a backup. Probably waiting until a starter goes down with no clear replacement. Team already announced they're going with Coleman. |

Losing Tunsil other than a loss of a top 3 tackle also hits depth at a critical position. Decker solidifies the spot and increases depth. Doubt he picks up the phone if we wait later in the year to call him if we suffer another injury.

Look at this pre-season schedule. We are 1 out of 4 games that isn't on some channel or another. Just lol.

If our coaches are worth a damn, they’ll find a way around this. Minimum expectation is still at least a 9-8 record. DQ can’t do that, what’s the point of him. Playoffs might be out the window now but at least a winning season.6
Next man up. Good teams can overcome injuries. The so so to bad teams can't and don't. |

Yes he was great there but not sure he was promised anything nor did he come close to winning a title. We have a lot more important things to worry about with the season nearly here, but this is weird and kind of surprising. |

You got way more important things to worry about. Whomever is advising him ( mommie) needs to get in his ear and tell him to move on and drop this. |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
Joint practice with Dolphins was great.
Jayden seems to have already fully transitioned to under center and has replaced Ertz with Diggs. Our edge rush was awesome The adoption of both offense and defense seem to be fully understood. Even the kickers were flawless. The concern of Coleman taking over LT didn't seem to directly show up, however it did expose connelly at RT with solo pass blocking against Chop Robinson. And the interior oline was an issue with bad snaps and going backwards against the run. So they will shore that up. Much of that was 2nd string unknown guards being bad and both of our backup centers having snapping issues : good jones (against the 1's) and Gulbin (vs 2's) My prediction: we will pick up 2 more guard/center and a guard/tackles as the ones we have for camp aren't cutting it. However, our other primary 2nd string center is doing quite well, he should ascend, he made great calls, snapped well and held his own in run blocking. Barring a trade, he is likely to be our backup center and has potential to start believe it or not ( think Rasul Douglas) His name Center: Daniel Brunskil This dude is gunna make the team The only reason they won't play him at the preseason game with the ones over good jones is to keep it consistent until Allegretti is back on Monday. Good Jones has one last shot, perhaps even to make the 53, it is Friday night Gulbin is a project that frankly, shouldn't be on the 53 yet, yes someone may scoop him at final cuts, but he's not really a mobile scheme fit anyways. No way I keep him over a wr/RB/edge. I think we will be good enough at center because Good Jones is only in right now as an experiment. I think he is a cut candidate. |

Little more nuance to the story than headlines let on. LSU has used his NIL rights past the expiration with the expectation they wouldn’t give out his number.

Internet is trolling the heck out of JD5 over this. Some are pretty funny have to admit:

Injuries piling up. Bring week 1 already smfh.
Johnny Newton out significant time. Torn pec & surgery. Amos no closer to starting. Edge rushers (both) with week to week Week 1 yet? |
I like this move
Agree. Would like to get a new center also which I feel is paramount. Glasgow is available. Way too much uncertainty with the position currently. Boogie Basham signed for lb. Sure hope oline comes together this year. Last Sunday was not pretty.

Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
Sounds like the Ravens had their way with our O-line. Not good. Like at all. The C position is terrifying, but other than Cosmi, none of them would be sure-fire starters on most other teams. I like Humphries as insurance (although his best days are behind him), but we need help at C and G or we're going to get JD5 killed. AP should leverage some of the talent we have at WR and maybe even LB to see if he can wrangle a decent OL player from somewhere. (Crazy to think we'd have guys to shed from the WR and LB corps after last year, but here we are.)

Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
Starting to have real questions about Peters if nothing is done at center. It was painfully obvious after the Lions game that center is a massive problem. Nothing has been done. Graham Glasgow is available and apparently would listen. It would be a travesty if we roll our stud qb out to a oline that cannot pass block. Please make a move AP.
|
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
Peters went and got Tunsil then drafted Conerly in the 1st round. I mean, he has went after guys. But also, when you have a franchise QB, all 5 spots on the line need to be high and tight. We are definitely not tight in the middle of the line (can't blame him for Tunsil injury).
I wonder if Coleman could play center. Wouldn't mind seeing: LT: Conerly LG: Paul C: Coleman RG: Cosmi RT: Humphries or Wylie |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
I mean, he has went after guys.
He did and went after Linderbaum which did not work. Center position was not addressed and is not being now which is painfully evident at this point. Biadiasz was released and Algretti is hurt and has no timetable for a return. Peters is doing nothing. Unacceptable. This position is dire and requires continuity. Sign Glasgow now.

agree i know the glass half full people will hate me but this seems to be falling apart how anyone can say this isn't like the rg3 storyline , blows my mind jd5 has a major injury this year, QB is right back on the need table DQ and JD5 maybe sitting in some of the hottest seats in the nfl this season |
Re: 2026 Commanders Training Camp
I would feel much better about JD5 staying healthy if oline didn't look like a train wreck lately. Besides having minimal time to throw, this will force him to run more increasing the chance of injury. Center is a critically vital position to a football team. You have to have a starting NFL talent in there. Stunned AP is not seeing this.
