Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
It's almost impossible to limit it to 5, but here goes:
1. Joe Gibbs (genius) 2. Darrell Green (the kind of guy you'd like your kid to look up to) 3. LaVar Arrington (a pleasure to watch through his entire collegiate and pro career) 4. Art Monk (how he's not in the Hall and Lynn Swan is is simply beyond me) 5. tie between Charles Mann and Gary Clark (pound for pound one of the toughest receivers of all time IMO)......sorry, I just couldn't choose between those two. |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
Joe Theisman
John Riggins "The Posse" (Clark, Monk, Sanders) Darrell Green Timmy Smith-One game wonder, but he did it on the biggest stage. |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
Guys, THANKS!
This thread is awesome and has been great to read so far. It also will help me with my Weekly Historic Redskin. Gonna do one in the 1950's next and then jump up and grab a guy from the Gibbs era. Then I think I'll bounce mostly with some of our Hall of Famers and old timers. I'm going to a Samual Baugh post the first week of the season when traffic is highest. My dream? Sammy Baugh at 95 sees his Skins win another Super Bowl. Keep them coming guys! Thanks mike |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
Art Monk
Riggins Russ Grimm RFK Stadium (on any given Sunday, but especially during their last Championship game against Dallas in the 80s....unreal!!!) Sean Taylor (contreversial choice, but I'm sticking by it:) |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins

Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
12th Man,
I never even considered RFK Stadium. While it's not a "person," it's a Redskin in my mind and that's a damn good pick. Anyone consider Bobby Mitchell (especially in light of the recent interview on NFL Network)? |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
1. Ernest Byner
2. Art Monk 3. Joe Jacoby 4. Lavar Arrington 5. Brian Mitchell |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins

Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
I started a thread at my sports pools site that opens the question up to all sports.
http://www.boastingrights.com/ftopic2115.html&highlight= You don't have to join but do fill in a name. Joining is free and we play free sports office pools and you are welcome to jump in. [/spam] lol The question in that thread is who would be your all time favorite sports figures. DON'T write those here and hyjack this thread anymore than I am doing now. hahaha This thread has been a big eye opener for me as to who ya'll like. Thanks mike |
Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
i just got back from outta town , so i'm commin in late but here i go
art monk & darrel green ( they tie for #1 ) gary clark ( i loved the way he played, if he dropped a pass he would get angry with himself. he would'nt just shrug his shoulders the way gardner does. #2 ) the hogs & jon jansen ( they just simply get the job done. #3 ) lavar arrington ( despite his recent grumblings. i love his intensity. #4 ) joe gibbs & greg williams ( together, they will lead the skins to many victories #5 ) last year i would have put L. coles in the top five because i loved the way he played but now i think he is a punk. |

Maybe it's a place where the beer flows like wine...

Re: Your 5 All-Time "Favorite" Redskins
The screen name? It's just my AIM name, which is a combo of my e-mail address in college and my jersey number from IM sports. Not very creative I'm afraid. I like the other explanation- let's go with that.
Thanks for the welcome, I look forward to giving my two cents worth on stuff from time to time. I need someone to talk Skins with here in Panther country. :biggthump |

I definately know who the 5 most popular Redskins are! I took the liberty of compiling your lists and this is what I came up with:
1. Darrell Green - 35 votes 2. Art Monk - 29 votes 3. Riggo - 21 votes 4. Suprisingly Lavar Arrington - 12 votes 5. Tie between two Joes, Gibbs and Jacoby - 11 votes Other honorable mentions : Gary Clark 9 votes, Dexter Manley 8 votes, Clinton Portis (a little early yet, don't you think?) 7 votes My list reads as follows: 5. Joe Jacoby 4. Dave Butz 3. Riggo 2. D. Green 1. Art Monk.......hands down With honorable mentions going to B. Mitchell, Joe Gibbs, Monte Coleman and S. Davis. |
