Thanks for switching the avatars, I was beginning to develop an insecurity about having a picture of guy with a yellow condom on his head as my visual representation. Is there any chance in the late future we can upload disaterous Skins for comedic purposes? For example, could I have Jeff George? Or imagine if someone poses a link to a falsified article about the Skins; you could then place M. Westbrook as his avatar.

Matty, i have to say at first i was very concerned. One of my favorite things about this site was your clever ranking system that both cleaned up the site and gave incentive for people to post. in the world of forums (especially Skins ones), your method was rare and quite original.

people seem to like the options though, so may i make a suggestion?

how about limiting the options per rank? so a camp scrub would only be able to select a relative few (like say between first year players) and as you grow in post ranks you could select more?

that why you could keep the options, and the benefits of posting. making the options tie into their rank, like the previous camp scrub example, would sweeten it even more.

what do you think? I got very used to seeing Gibbs only under the mods over the years, and it's strange seeing scrubs with them now.

oh and we need Breaux, Bugle, Williams and the rest of the coaching staff for the big posters!

I guess I'll chime in on this deal. I do personally like the fact that "I" can now choose my avatar but dislike that others can choose theirs also. That's right I am selfish bastard in this regard. I agree mostly with illdefined when it comes to this. I like that there was a ranking type system that awarded long time members and motivated everyone to post. Sorta made me think that those of us with a half decent amount of posts got a little head start in the respect department which always makes you feel good. I do like the array of choices for the avatars though and as long as they remain universally sized and formatted I am cool. Just don't screw with the look of the site. This is the cleanest and most attractive forum I go to and a bunch of screwy sigs and avatars will change that in a hurry.

The main thing is keeping them sized and formatted as FRPLG says. And I also kinda like illdefined's suggestion about rank--but whatever.

I trust you in this one Matty--as everyone says, this is the cleanest, easiest to read and navigate site out there.

Its funny when I brought it up about asking for a change everybody liked the old way. We even talked about buying your Avatar. Now the change and everybody is comming out saying how great these are. Where the heck were you when I asked this question.

The avatars are already limited to certain usergroups, and as we add more we'll continue to limit them depending on usergroups.

We'll be coming up with something different to differentiate the mods from everyone else.

Don't worry, as I said originally, we'll continue to supply the avatars to choose from to assure a level of quality, Summo is banging out some new ones as I speak. We'll never have pics in the signatures or allow people to upload their own.

i also kinda liked knowing how prolific a poster is by seeing the avatars instead of having to stop and look at numbers a i scrolled down a page. Its not a huge issue for me though.

I think everyone is going with the flow. Plus it's not a life or death issue for most of us. I am not enamored with the idea but it's really no big deal to me. This is the best whether or not we can choose our own avatars or not.

One suggestion I do make. Everyone needs to haev an avatar. Having some without avatars starts to disrupt the visual flow of the threads.

Obviously now the avatars are seperate from the rankings, I guess it's just something to get used to.

Still hold Redskins and NFL Records in Passing, Interceptions and Punting and was a Life Time Redskin and was in the Inagural HOF Inductees in 1963.

Just jokes. I'm certainly not disputing Baugh's credentials as one of the NFL's all-time greatest players. Though he may be the "Greatest Redskins Player of All Time", fond memories replace facts for most of us.

You are correct in that there should be a Baugh avatar. I am very sure Summo is working on it.

got an idea... maybe have the avatars be selectable, but the background color changes in some way with rank (white -> grey -> burgundy, gold for mods) to help us keep track again. Just have the same avatars and once you reach a certain rank the avatar set flips to one with a different background color... or something.
