I Support HOF Coach Gibbs!
P. Ram - A QB with character.
M. Brunnell - A QB with lifesaving experience. Wasn't hard for HOF Coach Gibbs. I figurred it when P.Ram wasn't allowed to go back in. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Not at all. Gibbs stock just plummetted with me. He stuck with Brunell through 8 horrendous games last year and gave Ramsey the hook after 1 quarter, that was terrible. He publicly lied about Ramsey really being the starter. I'm very disappointed with Gibbs. I guess we'll have to get used to more games where we score under 10 points. I don't feel good about this at all.

Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Yes

Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
I support gibbs nuff said.. Turnovers, but I cant stand Brunnell though i feel like i am gonna throw up..

Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Fact of the matter is Ramsey is not read yet! He just may need more time!!! We have a better chance of winning with Brunell then Ramsey. Monday night in Dallas Ramsey would have little chance of getting the job done. I am not saying that Brunell will do that much better but he has been in games at the other guys home under fire. I just have this feeling that Brunell can pull this off with a week with the first O!
I noticed an interesting comment from Coach Gibbs while I was just watching his press comferance where he made the anouncement on Redskins.com TV. He said he looked to the past to take notes from and he talked about Mark Rypien being on the IR for 2 years, then get his chance to play and throwing 9 interceptions in 8 games. He said they kept trying to get it across to Ryp not to allow so many turn overs and they worked with him in drills and such. But the biggest thing Joe Gibbs thought got across to Rypien was this... he sat Rypien and let some one else be the starter. He said Rypien learned from that experience and the next time he was prepared to take the reigns and be the starter. You all know what happened then. SUPERBOWL MVP, BABY, YEAH!! "I'M GOING TO DISNEY WORLD, WHOOOO!!" :D |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
I just watch Ramsey miss Recievers all perseason. Nine points in a game is not going to get it done. So why are we so bad on the O side of the ball???? Nine line,Good backs and pretty good WR and TE. So is it Bad QB's, Play calling or just the way we are going about attacking D's? Ramsey had his chance all perseason with the first O and now I think Burnell should get his to see if it can get better. You never know Burnell could be our D.Williams!!!! :cheers
No, he's Mark! As in our Mark Rypien! Well, the last guy to play QB for us that was named Mark led us to the Superbowl, ya know?! But then again, the last QB to where number 11 won us a Superbowl so take yer pick. :D |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
There is no good QB choice for the skins now. PR does not have 'it' and MB has pretty much lost 'it'. As for the rookie, rookies just are not successful in this league.
As TK says in today's WP. "welcome to last year." |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Hell No
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
At this point, I'm actually hoping, in a dark corner of my brain, that Brunell gets hurt.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Yes ... Gibbs is the coach of this team and I'll stand by him - come Good or Bad.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
<meekly>yes</meekly>
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Absolutely not. It's one of the worst decisions he's made in his coaching career. Feel this will come back to haunt the team for a long, long time.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
NO. Now Im questioning Gibbs' character, never thought Id say that.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
YES
Brunell has shown poise and accuracy (this year). Ramsey has shown that he's still a work-in-progress in his fourth year. Gibbs wants to win now. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
NO!
Everyone who listened to the TV commentators heard them going on and on about the poise of Kyle Orton. How he didn't get down on himself if he made a mistake. He wou8ld just get back in the saddle and let fly downfield again. They suggested that this was aGOOD thing. Ramsey doesn't have to question himself after a turn-over, the coach PULLED him. ONE INT. ONE. Let me say it again: ONE. We were all witnesses the Murder of a QBs confidence. He's not looking over his shoulder then next time he plays, he's spun all the way around BACKWARD. Save him! Trade him. PLEASE |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
I just want to win games. If Brunell gives us that chance then Im all for it. IF Ramsey does, Im all for it. I will believe that Gibbs knows Best. He gets a lot of faith from me because unlike Spurrier he wont just yank a QB, to say he yanked a QB.
Maybe we should have kept Trent Green. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
I don't support it.
Ramsey fumbled twice and threw an int. He also threw for 105 yards and a TD ( that was a garbage call, and in no way negates what PR did in my eyes) in a quarter and some change. To talk about his negatives and ignore his positives just doesn't make sense to me. Sell yourselves on Brunell all you want, I just don't see him being as good for the team as Ramsey. I hope I'm wrong. |
State of the Skins Nation...as a Fan
I am confilicted as to what I think. I think PR gives us the best opportunity for the big play; he also gives us the biggest opportunity for turnovers. I do believe MB will manage a better game; but it scares the hell out of me when he says after the game "Tell Coach Gibbs I need to warm up before I throw the longball". I think MB is playing better this year, and we have a much better overall team this year, particularly on special teams (with the exception of Brown).
The bottomline is right now we are a mess at QB period. The debate is usless; what is better measels or mumps as far as I am concerned. I can't remember Gibbs ever saying anything close to what he said at his press conference- something to the effect of "I am just looking for one of the quarterbacks to step up and take controll of the offense". He said it three times and sounded desperate. That is what scares me more than anything. However over all I think the offense looked a little better than last year. enough?...don't know, but wee have to get in to the endzone. That was the bad. There is plenty of good. I cant remember when the last time we had such consistant good coverage on teams. It seams to have picked up from the end of last year and progressed nicley. No false starts, delay of game penalties or silly wasted timeouts. That in it's self is a huge improvement. Defesnively we look stout again, I know the Bears have a horrid offense but good teams do what we did to bad teams, shut them down. The Fed all of a sudden became a hard place to play? Where did that come from? Nothing that happened since Gibbs came back has made me as proud of the Skins as that series where the crowd steped up. That says to me as a city we are starting to believe. So where does that put us? We are a 2/3rds of a good, good team. Mark or Pat? Coach you decide and I have to support it. Dallas and NYG looked much better than last year and Philly lost to a good team, does that mean we are relegated to the basement in the east? No. Anything can happen. the Eagles are 0 - 1 could only rush for 51 yards and gave up 200 on the ground. Dallas gave up 4 yards a carry. The Giants only had the ball for 24:15 and Eli was 10/23 with 2 ints. All of those play into Skins strengths. Which brings me to my point: I am very nervous about our offense but I believe we as much heart and intesinal fortitude as any team in the league. If we have improved enough overall on offense to win tight ballgames instead of lose them, only time will tell. So as a fan I am left with one choice: Believe in our teams plan or be miserable second guessing every decision. I will chose to believe in our team. I chose to believe they will play to the best of their ability from head coach to the practice squad guys. I will chose to believe through hard work and effort we will do better than anyone expects us to do and as a fan I will support them as such. As a fan that is all I can do |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
I've asked this a few times but I don't think I've seen a clear answer.
What exactly has Ramsey done to deserve to be the unquestioned starter?? Why are people soooo emotionally attached to this guy?? It has to be an emotional attachment, that's the only way I can see why people are so supportive of a QB who's been so inconsistent. It has to be an emotional attachment when people are so eager to overlook his interceptions and inconsistent play. I don't get it. Ramsey doesn't look like the answer right now, and in all likelihood Brunell is just a stopgap until Campbell is hopefully ready to take the job next year. But people are acting like we're benching Manning or Favre. We're benching a young QB who hasn't proven anything except that he's still an inconsistent QB that makes too many mental errors. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell?
Yes, but I really believe that Gibbs is trying to drive the point home to Ramsey that he cannot turn the ball over. I believe we will see Ramsey again.
I'll second this one. He is sending a message and maybe the "kid" will only get it through his thick head if he is benched. |

I don't take it into account. I don't worry about the preseason, much like the Colts. You know Tomlinson only had 1 carry in the preseason...so what? The preseason means nothing. That's why it's an exhibition game. I would prefer a player who is inconsistent to one who is consistently bad. 70 yards in 2 and a half quarters of football is miserable. It is like watching paint dry when Brunell drops back. I have no faith in him. His best days are behind him. You can't win football games by not taking risks. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Yes, I support Gibbs. How can any of us be so bullheaded to think that we know better who should be starting at QB for the Redskins than Joe Gibbs?

Ramsey salvaged the rest of last season. Gibbs was too late to try and get a winning record, but Ramsey sparked what little offense we had and started winning some games. he prevented an obscene losing record we were heading to with Brunell, and ended the season with hope. he proved he could score with what he had (unlike Brunell) and thats what got Ramsey the (19 minute) start this season and all the offseason reps. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Purely my opinion. No, its not a good decision.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Facts are Ramsey threw a pick on his second pass and fumbled twice. He has known he was the starter since last season and that's how he comes out of the gate? Bench him, I agree with Coach Gibbs that we need someone to establish themselves at qb. Its not that hard, even Kyle Orton was completing passes and holding onto the ball, Ramsey just looks shaky in the pocket and you can't have that.
Brunell didn't impress, I'd say Ramsey lost the job more than Brunell won it. But Ramsey is done in DC, his confidence is shot and he doesn't look comfortable on the field. I look for Brunell to have another big day against Big D. |

That's why I am so **** mad about this, not because I am personally connected to Ramsey's future in any way. With Ramsey, I feel we may not have to simply write off this entire season. With Brunell, I fear we will have to. Again, I'm not emotionally attached to Ramsey. I AM emotionally attached to winning (though it's getting harder to remember what that was like) and I feel Ramsey gives us the best chance to do so for this season. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
I guess.
This just sounds too much like last year. Although I question Ramsey, I was not impressed with Brunell play Sunday. So when Brunell messes up does he get yanked quick? Brunell had 8 games last year and Ramsey only had one half? I dont agree with that. How will Ramsey play when he gets back in is another question. Ramsey should of at least had 3 games to prove himself or not. :dallas: |

Based on what? What did Ramsey show any of us this pre-season or in the first game? I'd start Campbell, but I'm just a Homer fan, that's why I'll defer to Coach Gibbs. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
I agree with Ramsey. He's all gun & no touch. Brunell & Campbell throw with better feel & touch.
Campbell for week 3 lol |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Yes for know but i want ramsey to be the future but that may not happen.spurrior messed up a really fine qb.something else to mark the ol ball coach up for.

Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Yes.
I am amazed that some on this board are bigger Ramsey fans than they Redskins or Joe Gibbs fans. I have not posted anything until now about this because there are some angry people about this subject. Comments like 'I hope ramsey comes back on another team and torches us...'...etc... etc. I realize some folks really love Ramsey as a person, but his QB play has not developed or approached the level of play that I expect of our starter. While Brunnell is not the answer he is not going to throw a ton of interception, get sacked all the time and play as inconsistantly as Ramsey. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Yeah I do, Ramsey turned the ball over TWICE and doesn't know when a play is dead.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Everyone here is just assuming that Brunell will be just as bad as last year. If Gibbs felt that Brunell would be as bad as he was last year he would not have made the change.
With the way Ramsey was playing it is clear that we were not going to win a lot of games with him as starter. This is a defensive team that needs to run the ball and control the clock on offense. Ramsey makes to many mistakes to play that style of game. Ramsey might score a couple more TD's as starter, but he will also give up more TD's by putting our defense on a short field more often than Brunell will. |
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Yes.
|
Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
I would have to say NO to starting Brunell under this circumstance, give Ramsey the damn Reigns for the first three or four games and place judgement then. Odds are we could have been at least 2 and 2 under nearly the worst case scenario with Ramsey starting the season not lost and got a better feel for what Ramsey would have done and made the transistion alot easier to Brunell who if he is the answer should be able to bail us out and turn the season around if he is playing that well right now to make this call my guess is he will be in three to four weeks. Gibbs is handling this situation so wrong no matter if you trust him or not.

Re: Do you support Gibbs' decision to start Brunell? (Merged)
Memphis,
Gheez Donovan McNabbb threw an interception in the first quarter last night and I didn't see Andy Reid giving him the hook. I also see Favre throwing interceptions occasionally too. Fact of the matter is every QB is going to throw an interception but that doesn't mean they immediately get benched. |
