man, you have GOT to stop jrocx. Every post i've read you've been insulting people, telling them they're dumb, they're worth less than shit, they don't know football, they're fairweather fans, to go away, to follow blindly, to accept your view or to lock threads becaue people disagree with you. STOP BEING A F**CKING TROLL. either learn to support your views with logic or state them without being pointlessly offensive or just don't say anything at all, please. |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
Gibbs still hasn't given me adamant proof to not trust his judgement and no matter what, with what he has done for our franchise, I definitely will not ever trash and disrespect the man like a couple others both here and in the press seem to be doing.

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
I don't know what everyone is soiling themselves over. Do I trust Gibbs or don't I??? This is bull shit, coaches bench people every year, changes are made Gibbs has bitch slapped other guys right off the team unpopularly in the past. Coaches take players who are for the most part equal and dump one guy and keep another. I mean Ramsey was at best, not adequate on this team, we were all holding out for him to start using both his visual cortex and his motor functioning center in his brain at the same time.
I like Ramsey but do I not trust the guy who coaches our team for telling him he can't chronically turn the ball over. I mean he obviously sees something in our terd, retiree, rubber armed, jack off that he likes more than our bazooka armed, wet dream. If Joe "3 super bowl champ wins" Gibbs who won three super bowls with qb's who had transient success in the NFL can't muster the faith to play Ramsey. Who should I be suspect of the Hall of Fame coach who has done nothing but win and succeed at everything he's done since being an assistant coach or the QB who has proven nothing, absolutely nothing in his career. ??? |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
There can be only one point of view here and it's non-negotionable. There is no way I will ever mistrust or doubt the best coach the Redskins have ever had, and a coach that has without a doubt forgotten more football than most of us will ever know. It seems so ironic as I look back to most of the posts on this forum just as little as eighteen months ago when JG made the decesion to return and coach the Redskins and see how different they looked then as opposed to now.
So often we speak of how we are blasted and criticized by the media and then I look to how critical and abrasive we can be towards our own and I can say no wonder. Eighteen months ago there was not a crumb of negative relative to the second coming of coach Gibbs. Everything was positive and everyone was convinced we were well on our way to stardome once again. I have been around long enough to know "Rome was not built in a day" and as great a coach as Gibbs is I also knew it was going to take a little time to right the ship. Granted he "may" have made a couple unpopular decisions that some of us may not have agreed with, but he made them and stuck by them. I say "may" because the jury is still out on Brunell, but I feel a few more games will shed a clearer picture of where we will go with him. I'm convinced that all this negative talk about Gibbs is completely unjustifiable, espically all the negatives in reference to his latest decision. When it comes to certain players on our team and (espically the favorite ones) we sometimes seem like Patriots saddled with an undying faith and belief we don't even understand the meaning of ourselves. When they are met with tough decesions that are not favorable to us we are bound to have differences in opinions, but I don't think we should allow those differences to destroy the love and faith we all should have for the greatest coach the Redskins organization has ever had. |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
from the washington post:
"Brunell said yesterday that the injury was not a factor to his play last season, and that he didn't undergo any rehabilitation. Brunell, who turns 35 on Saturday, dismissed the notion that his arm is stronger than last year." Gibbs wasn't truthful about giving Ramsey 'every opportunity' and isn't being truthful about Brunell's 'injury'. i think the poll should be changed to do you have FAITH in Gibbs, because TRUSTING him these days should be hard for anyone. |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
I voted no, I don't believe he honored his word in giving [what everyone knew he said] Ramsey the starters job, I believe he paid lip service to him all the while looking for any excuse to get the teachers pet back on the field, if Brunell was doing something spectacular last year, or this, it would be another story, but he hasen't, what was so great about his preseason? Everyone looks at it being great, comparitivly to what he did last year, yes, which was nothing.
Did Gibbs make Ramsey his starter? Yes. Did he back him like other QB's he's had? Absolutly not! Gibbs himself has stated in the past that perhaps his loyalty to his starters may be a little extreme, well not in Patricks case, which tells me he really in his heart did not keep his word, all he did is pay lip service to buy Brunell some time and let the memory of one of the worst QB performances and rating's through the first 9 games in NFL history soften a bit to get his boy back on the field and justify a 42 million dollar blunder which is his fault, and his fault alone!
Wow, tough words, but I can't say I really disagree with them. I've been very troubled with how Gibbs has handled the entire QB issue for the Skins ever since he returned as coach. I can't recall that he has ever really praised any of Ramsey's efforts. But it seems like all Brunell has to do is smile and Gibbs is effusive in his praise. I just don't get it, because Brunell has done NOTHING to deserve that level of confidence since he's been here. I am just so disgusted that the Skins are, once again, embroiled in controversy and so early in the season. It was, IMO, totally unnecessary and it was Gibbs' botched handling of the QBs that has brought this all on. Can't be good for the team to have this major distraction right before Dallas. |

Gibbs never gives much to the media and I'm sure he encourages his players and coaches to do the same. Brunell doesn't want to make excuses for his poor play last year and frankly who wants to hear it. The proof is on the field. Brunell's passes have more zip & he's a heck of a lot more accurate. Something is different, whether he admits it or not it's obvious something changed from last year. |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
I have been thinking about this again, yet another night....there really isn't a QB controversy. Gibbs made a change and that's it. Its US and the media that think its a controversy. I have not heard anyone from within the organization that has said anything about this move. Usually when there is turmoil, you start to hear reports from "anonymous" players voicing there is a problem. This HAS NOT happened. There is NO controversy and the Skins will move on regardless of who is playing QB.
So there, these threads have become meaningless...LOL. |

However, this could be like last year when there was all that internal strife among the Giants because of practice start times (or something like that) and we were all like "This will be a cakewalk, the Giants are spending too much time beating each other. They can't beat us" Well, wouldn't it you know it. They could and did |

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
I had to vote yes. I do trust him from my own standpoint as a fan. I trust he makes decisions based on what he feels is best for the team, and that's what he's there to do. If I were Ramsey would I trust Gibbs... nope. If I were anyone else would I.... yup. Brunell and Campbell are Gibbs's QBs. Ramsey was Snyder & Cerrato's guy. I like Ramsey, and at the end of last year I thought he was going to come out of his slump and start developing into a good QB. It pained me to see what was happening and I would've given him every excuse in the world to fail. Thats why Im not the coach of the Washington Redskins.

I agree with you there to a certain extent. We had a conversation here a while ago about the difference between being a hardcore fan and a fanatic. Most people think that the word fan truly came from fanatic. The only different between the two is the lack of reason. Like you, Gibbs and company have my backing and support of the Brunell move even though I don't personally approve. However, if Gibbs decided that doing an entire roster overhaul mid-season, I might have to start questioning his motives. It's one thing to follow a team and another thing to BLINDLY follow a team. I think that most of us here are the former (and it seems like you are too). I'm basically just wondering what you would think if Gibbs decided that our WRs were terrible and we needed to release them now and sign some practice squadders. |

I guess for me my reasons for being extensively supportive of Coach Gibbs partly if not completely derives from him being there when I fell in love with this game! As a female, it is not that common that you find one with such a love for the game as I have. I am a DIE-HARD skins fan, no doubt about that....married to a DIE-HARD cowboys fan (go figure) but I just love the game and because I have such a love for the game and the coach, maybe at times I am following him BLINDLY, who knows....(just as you--I would begin to questions some changes if they appeared unfounded) but the QB change appears to me a necessity if we are trying to have a over .500 season this year! |

Did anyone see th interview in which they asked Lavar about the QB change it looked like he had all he could do from shaking his head and laughing, he sounded like he wanted to say this poor kid what next, then he said were all men he has to tough it out, he really looked like he was biting his tongue. :laughing-
|
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
YES!
I haven't read through the thread so I apologize if this has been said in one way or another... In addition to being a HOF, 3 Superbowl winning coach, we have to remember that Gibbs is also a human being. We all make mistakes and say and do things we shouldn't at times. Gibbs shouldn't have promised the job to Ramsey like he did, but I firmly believe that he is doing what he believes is best for the team, in terms of winning football games. With his track record, who are we to argue? |

Yup, I saw it last night on Fox5, came on after 'House' went off, it did look like he wanted to bust out laughing...I think his final comment was " I feel for him". |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
we can't let ourselves get caught up in all this stuff the media stirrs up, YES i whole heartedly trust gibbs, it's a shame how the bitterness and the cynical ways of the press and our own disappointment with our owner, past coaches and teams has now caused us to doubt one who deserves better. he is the best chance we've had sense he left to make some noise.

Yep, I saw it too. It looked to me like ol' Lavar definitely wanted to say more, but wisely chose not to. From what he did say, it appeared that he sympathized with PR. |

Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
Do I trust Joe Gibbs to do what?
Do I trust him to try to win every game that he sends his players out on the field for? Yes I do. So do all the NFL coaches - past present and future. Do I trust him to give the effort it takes to be a winning NFL coach? Yes I do. Do I trust him to be bound by the parsing of each and every sentence he utters about the team and the players? Nope. And I wouldn't want him bound by that either. Do I trust him to build a team that can win one year and then be solidly constructed for the future? Not really. Gibbs is a "win now" guy who probably figures that if the team has problems down the line he can figure out a way to fix them too. Do I trust him to be sensitive to the feelings of his players? Not really - - unless they are bona fide STARS and have lots left in the tank so they can continue to be STARS. Know what? That's the way I'd handle the personalities and egos on an NFL team too. Do I trust him? Depends on what you mean... |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
NO....emphatically!! I did 12 years ago. 11 years "out of the game" obviousley took it's toll/ Comebacks after that long are not possible, for players OR coaches. Plus he had Jack Kent Cook!! I say just wait: Brunell will flop and you will see Campbell> That is the Snyder Gibbs plan. AIfthey think they have a rookie phenomenon like Tom Brady, they are whistleing in the dark!

I wouldn't say that so fast 1st of all: Brady was overlooked by every team in the league an average of 5 times during the draft. He also didn't take over the pats until his second season. I am not saying Campbell = Brady but you just don't know what JC is capable of. |
Re: Do you trust Gibbs?
its fine (and sensible) to trust coach Gibbs's conviction over your own. but stop pretending you've never questioned him.
EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU doubted Gibb's decision to keep Brunell in so long last year. please stop claiming the bandwagon to yourselves this year or put an asterisk next to the slogans where you replace the word God for Gibbs. |
