I happened to be listening to 980 the day he hurt himself. He came on the show and was depressed, you could hear it in his voice. He in no way put the blame on the coaching staff or training staff. He said he told them " I am going to be on the field today, and you will have to physically hold me down if you dont want me out there!!" He stopped talking to media when all this happened, because someone in the media made up something saying he lashed out at the team for the way he was being treated. I also remember when they showed him coming out of the training facility on crutches and when someone asked him about it, he basically said, "you have the story you want, so write about it" basically saying, write what you want, you didn't listen to me in the first place, so make up your own. I dont know where this thing about him critisizing the management and coaching staff came from. I am a diehard fan, and read the post, times, espn, redskins.com everyday and never do I remember hearing him bash the team in that way.

But PR was the best QB we had at the time. He played decent last year in place of MB who looked like he was done. Then MB gets to play and it turns out he is better now.

Coaches use that formula all the time. They have guys they like or are more comfortable with and play them. Why do you think MB was signed and after last year's performance was kept on the team? These are NFL players and they all have a ton of talent so if a coach feels more comfortable with one player over another than thats why they will play.

I was thinking about that as well this am. However, it might be great time to see what he can do in Williams system. If he does well, he moves closer to a starting role. If not, it won't be as costly as you said, if it were Philly.
I have also been a huge LA fan, but I also have 100% supported GW's decision regarding same. In LA's defense, it seems lately, he is trying to walk the line a little more.

hey i actually like jimoh alot. i think he is a better cover corner than rogers right now. rogers is too soft, jimoh is actually fighting with receivers and running with them. rogers is just trying to keep them in front of him. rogers is better at run support.

DOH! I can't agree with that! Jimoh's place is on special teams...I haven't really seen anything from Jimoh to make me believe he's a better cover corner than Rogers. I mean, Jimoh might fight with the receivers, but he has no technique. He never looks back at the ball, and if he does, it's after the ball has went over his head into the hands of the receiver.

I don't want to be a kill joy here, but has anyone actually heard where Williams said he was going to play Lavar more this week? All I heard is that he said Lavar has had a very good 2 weeks and seems to have his legs back. I have heard him speak well of him in the past and then he doesn't play.

Anyway, I hope he plays and plays well. I am just think people may be reading into what Williams has said instead of listening to exactly what he said.

Well if the skins are 5th doesnt that mean there are 4 other Def coordinaters better?

First, no that doesn't necessarily mean 4 DCs are better, there's different amounts of luck/talent/money in each of those top 5 defenses, but being in the top 5 two years running means you're pretty good.

I never said anything like lavar was a criminal or a rookie who couldn't play, and i think the majority of people here thought the same. Its just that GW's opinion takes precedence over lavar's opinion for most people, and that's that.

I'd like to hear all of GW's excuses, he's the one that came out and said lavar is healthy, that's not why he's not playing. Beyond that I don't think i've heard a single excuse or explaination about why he's not playing besides the packages thing... so i'd like to see what you're calling fish tales and this multitude of excuses from a guy that only talks to the media once a week....

and watch who you're telling to check their loyalties, GW won 6 games for us last year, lavar won 0, so obviously winning and team success must not be important to you, but it is to me.

oh yeah, Gibbs picked GW personally and entrusted not just lavar, BUT THE ENTIRE DEFENSE to him as well as personnel decisions etc... GIBBS SPECIFICLY PICKED GW, he had absolutely no say in inheriting lavar.

I've never called him a bum or blamed him, so i have no idea why you'd be questioning my loyalty over something that never happened :P

and though lavar may have been a redskin longer, GW is MUCH more important to the team. Lavar + another DC (with champ) were on the 25th best D, GW without champ OR lavar had the 5th best D, so you can kind of see why i think GW might be just slightly more useful to the skins than a bench-warmer.

OK, here is my opinion on the whole LaVar thing and correct me if I might be wrong, because I have been there before. Arrington was hurt the majority of last season, and could not participate in training camp for the most part. It takes a while to get back into playing shape. Maybe he has just now caught up to everyone else in the stamina department and is now fully healthy and in game playing form. That would explain the lack of playing time. They might have given him a few plays early on in the season to do both test him and get the early season gitters out. Then hold him back and piss him off from a Pshcholigical stand point and then unleash him with something to proove. This in turn would provoke two things. To play harder, within the scheme, and win back his starting job. And most importantly force hime to step up and be the leader that corresponds to his playmaking ability. Maybe, just maybe, I am right and our coaches know how to motivate and coach in two aspects of the game, both Physical and Psychilogical.

I wasn't questioning your loyalty sorry it wasnt directed at u sorry if that was mistaken..i was really responding to comments cause i supported Lavar and not williams that I didnt support the team..my statement was that I was shocked how many people suddenly turned on Lavar after all these hard fought years with the skins,,, while williams is management Lavar has been here and given his heart and soul..and to read things like... well if he does this...and if he proved this ...and if he shuts his mouth... it sounds like a rookie in his 1st year.. they have forgotten the early years when he played the week after a scope or with a separated shoulder... or when Norv was saying oh we played well....he was rippping everyones ass for taking losing so easy .. I think everyone has presented their case as to why they support the coaches' decisions quite well, yet it keeps getting turned in to we hate LaVar and turned our backs on him. That's simply not the case. But if that's what will make you feel better when he has a big game and "proves us all wrong" so be it.

Sounds pretty reasonable to me, angryssg. I think yours is probably the most sound theory I've heard thus far in regard to the LaVar situation.

railcon i really think you are the only redskins fan anywhere that would take lavar over g.w. don't get me wrong, lavar means as much to me, as say, pie, but g.w. gets the job done, even while lavar isn't out there. granted, we would be better with lavar out there, but in his absence you have to give it to g.w. for keeping our defense good without him. no player is bigger than the team.

I have heard some really good points about this thread, and I could't help but not read everone of your posts. But, it was a little ironic that some people kind of threw Lavar under the bus when we were 3-0. But, now that we have lost 2 games in a row, we are mostly all jacked-up about the possibility of Lavar coming back. I personally feel that this "Lavar situation" is way more deep then we will ever know. Until after this season is over or if God forbid Lavar ever gets traded that is when this whole thing will come clear. To me this much is clear, with Lavar POSSIBLY coming back in for hopefully more than a few "packages" or a few snaps to see where he is, is GREAT! I just know that FedEx will go apsolutey F-ing nuts. This act alone will no doubt turn this defenses lack of getting turn overs and lack putting pressure on the qb around on it's head. Call it what you will, but this will turn this season around, bigger than that interception he had that he ran back for a t.d. against carolina. Guys this is HUGE! Let's not quibble over this and that and tear each others comments apart. Healthy debate is good, but the time is now to fire-up this team like we use to do when we were good, because we are good now! I don't know how many more years J. Gibbs is going to be our coach of this great team, but I feel that this is our best chance that we have not had since he left. I am tired of the excuses like: 1. the refs 2. our schedule 3. our coaches 4. an interception here or a fumble there 5. the ability to not get turnovers 6. a stupid penalty 7. quarterbacks 8. injured players 9. o-lines and d-lines. 10. and the freaking owner! I could go on but, this is getting too long as it is and I think my point has been made. When we go to the games just support the team and yell down from that nose bleed seat that we paid too much for that the goose bumps are visible for all to see! Yell like we use to do when we were good because the players feed off of that! Hell, I love this team with every fiber in my body. It has been too many excuses and too long since I've felt this stronge about this team and it's prospects. In closing: JUST WIN DAMN IT JUST WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont really believe in old school methods of fear .. that only gets you so far... part of coaching is motivating each person is an individual..the great coaches find ways to work those "DIFFICULT PLAYERS"and so often they will be even more apreciative and play much harder than if you scare them..ie John Thompson Denny Green Joe Gibbs Bill Parcels Phil Jackson... Heck old school doesn't motivate it's a different world.. look at the way we were treated as kids and the way we treat our kids... some may say hey he's a player he doesn't deserve special treatment and you may be right except When you have someone with this talent it's worth the extra effort... Hey these players are spoiled millionaire's but they are still human...and football is a game but there are alot of lessons in life as well!!!! THat's football the #1 Game in the world.. what are the other players going to think if u give arrington special treatment just because hes getting paid a lot. He doesn't deserve any special treatment for his talent. He hasn't even really played much since 2003. He has to prove himself all over again

and i think he finally did. This entire thread is now null and void. Regardless of the excuses or actual reasons, i doubt they could bench him now.
