sometimes players want a chance to win a ring before they retire, but I do see your point about the all mighty $ taking priority.
Well I was just talking about flat out playing. Unlike virtually every other position where you can at least contribute with special teams QB's during Super Bowl runs QB's are practically chained to the sidelines. It's nice to be on a winning team but if you're not even getting on the field it's excruciating. Then again if you're hanging on trying to build a little wealth then fewer jobs are better then getting six figures for holding a clip board while the QB on the field runs not only from defenders but the media as well. |
Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
NO OLD QB'S like Marc Bulger. NO NO NO. We are not going old patchwork anymore we are going young. Resign Grossman to a 1 year extension and let him start next year and keep letting Beck develop as a backup qb. Unless the SKINS can get Luck (no trading away picks anymore either) they should not draft a qb this year. We need a lot of help at the other positions on this roster before we are going to be able to win.

AGAIN John Beck is 29! He's not and will never be in our plans as a starting QB |

I said keep developing him as a BACKUP QB. That means 2nd string you can be 33 and be a solid back up QB, actually you want our backup to be a little older and more experienced. |
Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
i'm sorry to say. but i think it will be grossman. why else would they be giving him the opportunity now

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
Cam Newton and Jake Locker will be long gone.Luck is 50/50 to stay in school.if Ryan Mallett is there, you would be crazy not to pick him.if he is already gone, take a running back #1.there will be plenty of good QBs in the 3rd-6th rds.:food-smil

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
oh yeah,Grossman should start in 2011,unless a rookie wins the job outright.

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
Two guys I would like to see the team look into bringing to compete for the spot occupied by Beck into through free agency are Leinart (who knows the system after backing up Schuab in Houston) and Marc Bulger. Beck will mainly get his shot next year during preseason....assuming there is a preseason.

Rather have Bulger back up than Leinart :vomit: |

I think Bulger is happy in Baltimore.don't see him leaving there unless he is released.

I don't know. Despite the circus that was McNabb this past year I'm pretty sure Bulger would at least be intrigued by the chance to realistically compete for a starting job under Shanahan rather then compete for a Super Bowl as a backup in Baltimore. Like I said before it's nice to be on a winning team, but it sucks when you're almost guaranteed to never see the field on gameday and unlike high school and college you don't usually see coaches putting in the backup QB when the score gets out of hand. |
Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
Grossman has been pretty poor in two games. I don't think he's done anything to hurt or help his chances of being with the Redskins next season, as I think he's merely out there to execute the offense as Kyle wants it to be executed. It hasn't been pretty, and I don't think he's executing it better than McNabb was, but I do think he's proving the point that McNabb was one of many problems with the offense. Quarterback needs to be fixed, and Grossman isn't really even a temporary solution.
It wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if Grossman started three or four games next year to ease in a rookie, but it would signify a roster that is still very weak on the offensive end. For all the problems the Redskins have been through, it's not a travesty that Rex is playing. I do get the feeling that some fans are seeing his performance as "something they could temporarily live with". It's the worst level of QB play we will have seen since pre-Ramsey days, based on the last two games and Grossman's career to date. If it's about implementing "a system", then fine, but Grossman is rated 15th on my list of free agent quarterbacks next year...and only two of those players (Manning + Vick) will be unobtainable for the Redskins. |

Re: Who Will Be The Redskins 2011 Opening Day Starting QB?
Top 9 of each.
QBs Manning Vick Leinart Matt Moore Seneca Wallace Tarvaris Jackson Tyler Thigpen Mark Bulger Alex Smith OLs Logan Mankins Ryan Kalil Robert Gallery Tyson Clabo Davin Joseph Doug Free Harvey Dahl Olin Kreutz Jared Gaither WRs Sidney Rice Vincent Jackson Steve Breaston Giants Steve Smith Malcom Floyd Santana Moss Braylon Edwards Santonio Holmes Mark Clayton This is not a system specific list, and would be re-ordered for the Redskins purposes (which would obviously bump Grossman up a bit due to system familiarity). |
