Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts
The Redskins played an excellent game. But they lost only because of the defense's inability to contain a 36 year old TE. Roddy White and Julio Jones were expected to have nice games against the Redskins secondary, but our inability to limit Tony Gonzales is what mostly cost us the game.
I would say it was the inability to capitalize on Atl's turnover, and our inability to get a clue on 3rd down. |
Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts
it's those big guys abusing our dbs that gets me thinking about sean taylor, he wouldn't stand for it.

Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts
Gonzalez had a big day, but no big plays that really burned us. I think they were willing to let him be the focus rather than Jones or White who probably would have done far more damage.
I agree but Moss is the most accomplished of the group and I think most clutch of the group.
Past != Present or Future (!= is the not equal sign) Skins fans have overvalued Moss for a LONG time now. He would never had been a #1 on any other team besides ours. He isn't clutch by far. One game in Dallas doesn't mean he's clutch. I've seen him drop too many balls that made a difference or fumble at the worse time to call him clutch. If he's the most "clutch", then we have a serious problem. |
Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts
Moss had a big play on a broken coverage. I like the guy and all he's done here, but he's clearly not our top WR anymore.
|
I dont recall to many drops by Moss and think he would have been a number one on seversl other teams - browns - bucs- rams- bears are a few that come to mind that over the last several years he would have been a number one on. That being said rite now i agree he is not our best wr. Still serviceable. But not our best. As a matter of fact minus the big play yesterday hes been virtually invisible.
I think you're not thinking 4th dimensionally Marty...seriously though, how often do you keep waiting for that guy. And who is that guy? I didn't agree with signing Morgan but I think adding Garcon who's shown he can be a #1 WR and can grow with RG3 over the next couple of years was a smart move both on the field and salary cap wise. You want to get guys on the upswing
Remains to be seen w/ Garcon. To be a legit #1 WR he needs to (dramatically?) outperform his own history thus far, otherwise he's just marginally better than a half dozen Turd Fergusons available for a fraction of the cost. Personally, I like Garcon. I know the personal foul penalty put the offense in a bad spot but I like a guy in the WR corp who will hit the defense in the mouth. Really do see Garcon as a poor man's Hines Ward at this point. Hopefully he becomes a clutch player for us. |

Right now we don't have a top wr. |
Tana is (still) the best WR on the roster for two critical reasons: he's the best route runner and he's far and away the best at finding an open space or creating separation. He's on par with the next best after the catch, but superior up to that point.
Outside of Moss, when you eyeball our WR talent and production vs their payroll, it's got to be among the worst in football. Neither Garcon nor Morgan are worth their contracts, and the opportunity cost of those mistakes by the regime are simply enormous given our salary cap situation. The thing is, we realistically have to take a win now mindset. Given the lack of high draft picks over the next two seasons and the huge wad of cash we blew on FAs over the last two and a half seasons, the time to win is now. If anything we'll see more holes open up over the next 2-3 seasons as guys like Fletcher, Orakpo and Hall need replacing than we can fill through the draft. That's why I balk when Shanahan apologists continue to look toward the future for improvement. Do ya'll expect upgrades as we replace Fletcher, Orakpo, Hall and probably one or two other guys? The future is now.
You could not have said it any better. |

This is true. |

I don't think he is the best reciever we have, but let's get the vet in the mix. The younger guys are inconsistent and need more time to grow. Morgan nor Hank make that play against broken coverage. Robinson would have dropped it. They were keying on Davis and Garcon. As a third option Moss ca be deadly when the other team is caught sleeping. |
Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts
The Skins played a good game against a good team and we came up short. Heartbreaking yes; tear all part and start over no.
The RGIII injury was the play of the game. IT knocked the Skins out and lifted up the Falcons who were in the makings of being caught in a trap game. |
Re: Falcons at Redskins Post Game Thoughts
so what's the solution?
The solution is to draft the right players and sign the right players as the current veteran stars on the team fade out. I wish Gibbs would have drafted Darrelle Revis instead of LaRon Landry in 2007. If he had, the Redskins wouldn't have a bum wearing #23 right now playing corner. |
