That's pretty bad too, but at least she's not running for VP. She's probably just as qualified though.

No one hates saying that more than I do. Like so many women, I’ve been pulling for Palin, wishing her the best, hoping she will perform brilliantly. I’ve also noticed that I watch her interviews with the held breath of an anxious parent, my finger poised over the mute button in case it gets too painful. Unfortunately, it often does. My cringe reflex is exhausted.
This sums things up perfectly:

Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who Is Clearly Out Of Her League.

Sounds like calls for her to quit the race are really amplifying. Here is Fareed Zakaria - one of the most reasonable guys out there- laying the smack down.

Biden isn't exactly immune to sticking his foot in his mouth. Or haven't you seen the clip of him telling the Senator in the wheelchair to stand up and take a bow? Plus, I'm not voting for VP anyway. I think, if elected, McCain/Palin will be similar to Bush/Quayle where the VP is essentially there to appeal to those far-righters but once in office will play a very, very small role.

There's a big difference between sticking your foot in your mouth and being completely clueless about the issues.

Biden might be a firecracker who shoots his mouth off, but at least he's knowledgeable about what's going on. Palin looks as if she hasn't even picked up a newspaper in the last five years.

She wouldn't have been my choice for VP. But I don't think she's nearly as clueless as the past month may have indicated. I think she will do a very strong job on Thursday in her debate. But she'll probably make one minor mistake midway through, maybe she'll end a sentence in a proposition, and that'll be all over YT and this board.

I don't think Palin is going to get an invite to Mensa any time soon, but she's hardly the idiot she's made out to be.

It's worth reading the full transcript of the Charlie Gibson interview. Frankly Gibson himself apparently doesn't fully understand what the Bush doctrine is. The camera work was very artfully done to portray Gibson as an imposing character and her in a far more diminutive posture (nothing wrong with that, but something to be aware of), and they cut out quite a bit of material form the interview that's very informative.

Gibson-Palin Interview Transcript (or find it anywhere else, I'm not fan of Mark Levin either, just happened to be tops in the Google search for a transcript)

It concerns me just as much as Biden becoming president, or Cheney becoming president or Al Gore becoming president. There aren't a lot of VPs in recent memory that I would say, "Yeah, NOW we've got someone to really fill in here!"

You're assuming the viewing public knows what a preposition is and where it should be placed.

I get it mixed up too. Sometimes I just don't know where to put it at.

Based on what exactly?

Everytime she opens her mouth she sounds like an idiot. It's beyond the point where anyone can say she was just having an off day.

Maybe she'll prove the haters wrong on Thurs., personally I highly doubt it. I think she'll give plenty of classic YT moments.

See Mheisig's post with the full transcript of the Gibson interview. When Obama says he's been to all 57 states, yes someone posts it but for the most part it's buried. As well it should be, because it's one minor gaffe during a lengthy forum. But if Palin did that, it's like those were the only words she said.

By the way, I meant preposition...not proposition :)

Cheney would kill his own mother if it made him a buck, Al Gore is too busy pushing Al Gore and the environment to even notice anything else going on around him, Sarah Palin thinks that seeing the tip of Russia on a clear day gives her foreign policy experience and when Joe Biden isn't trying to cram his entire foot into his mouth, he's telling paralyzed people to stand up and plagiarizing his speeches.

Meh. Palin may be an idiot, but she at least seems to be the most innocent of the bunch.

Take your pick: a crook, and idiot, a cheat or Al Gore. Pretty unimpressive group.

Re: Update: McCain Selects Gov. Sarah Palin as Running Mate

Palin has come off pretty bad in portions of these interviews, no question. But the election isn't between Obama and Palin. Although their resumes experience wise are pretty on-par with each other. This is between McCain and Obama and no matter what side of the political spectrum you're on, there is no debate that John McCain has far more experience than Obama.

I also have great faith in the Secret Service and the docs at NNMC Bethesda (I do some work with their IT group so at least I know their network works) keeping McCain above ground.

I have been very impressed by the number of conservatives who have opposed the Palin nomination on grounds of principle, stating the obvious: that she's not qualifed to be next in line for the most powerful office in the land, behind a 73 year old with a shaky health history and sealed medical records. Smoot, do you disagree with this?

For the record, McCain has made gaffes just as boneheaded as those you mentioned - for example confusing Sunni and Shiites - and has not been taken to task by the media either. I don't think there is a media conspiracy against Palin here. She simply doesn't know what she's talking about. There is no other way to spin it.

Well, I've said she wouldn't have been my choice. And I don't think she was MCain's first choice as well. And it bothers me that the Republicans have become so concerned with appeasing the pro-lifers (even though I am one, I don't think it's quite as important as say economy, education, foreign policy) that it seems like he was forced to select her. That said, I just don't think she's the complete idiot she's perceived to be. I hope people here sit and watch the whole debate on Thursday, and then start to make some judgments. Don't wait for a 1 minute YT clip.

As for McCain, I think the issue of his age is exaggerated. As for his sealed medical records, didn't know they were sealed but I have full faith in his doctors.

McCain is a recent cancer survivor and has also had several other minor medical maladies most likely attributable to age. Clinical Cases and Images - Blog: Sen. John McCain’s Melanoma History

His health records remain sealed. Numbering over 1000 pages, he made them available for 3 hours to members of the media who were forbidden from taking photographs. While perhaps he is in perfect health, a 73 year old cancer survivor running for president needs to be more forthcoming in my opinion. Why the secrecy right? I said his health records are sealed, which they are. I tend to be suspicious of the secrecy, but whatever, that's not the point. The point is that Palin is not qualified and that McCain is a 73 year old cancer survivor. McCain being the oldest presidential candidate of all time makes Palin perhaps the most important VP candidate of all time by implication, and she's not ready to go.

I am 27 and was thus never eligible to vote for Clinton.

Well he released his records back in the last time he ran for pres. and let reporters & doctors view his current records which is only 8 years of new stuff. You say Palin is not qualified but she is second in line and I feel Obama is not Qualified and he is actually running for ofice. I guess all the present votes he made was him saying I cannot take a stand on any issue because I want to run for president. The reason I asked about Bill C. is because he never released his med records.

First, seriously. Obama voted roughly 4,000 times in the State Senate. Voting "present", which isn't simply dodging issues or somehow you're confused and and can't make up your mind, as some would suggest. If you're going to spin the 130 Present votes, spin the whole story. It makes up approx. 3 percent of total votes cast.

I guess in terms of who's more experienced between Obama and Palin, I won't go there. Well, kinda..but consider that Barack has been campaigning vigorously for the past 19 months and more than 18 million Americans voted for him. And whether he wins or not, millions more will in November. That's one fundamental difference between the two when comparing their respective run for public office. Obama is the nominee by virtue of people actually examining and scrutinizing him inside and out, Palin was chosen by one person.

With respect to her I care and I'm saying she's not qualified to hold my car keys let alone park my car. You seem to think otherwise so lets have it.

No need. Let's just see what happens in November. Right now I'm more worried about whether Obama has what it takes to be President than whether Palin does to have VP.

Good point. We should be focused on the respective nominees. But unfortunately America is fixated on Palin and I think people for the first time in a long, do care about what this particular VP is capable of.

I think Palin v. Biden will be the most watched debate ever.

Has there been a VP candidate in recent memory as grossly underqualified as Palin? Perhaps that's why it's such a hot issue.
