So Campbell is going to start the Monday night Eagles game, and I think this is Jim Zorn's way of giving JC a chance to showcase what he can do. I don't agree with it, but why else would he start him...I realize that Collins didn't show that much, but a change...any change is needed right now.
It could be as simple as a tit for tat, if Lewis is gonna make it work then he has to use the same players Zorn had to use. |

Not every QB is going to develop no matter who the coach is.
Gibbs ruined nobody. You either have it or you don't. If GIbbs did ruin anyone it was Ramsey. Gave the guy only a half til he lost his job and his career. In fairness to Gibbs though, he probably already knew Ramsey was already ruined by Spurrier, gave him the start and pulled the plug when Ramsey gave him an excuse to. Would have been nice to see what Ramsey would have done in Gibbs offense though. Brunell was terrible. Shoot I would have asked for Gus back over Brunell. |
Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie
When I saw your Avatar title - JC equals David Garrad you lost all credibility.
To add to you trying to call me out. I watch the games and watch them closely. When JC plays bad I say he plays bad. But I am not going to sit and hate all the time and not give him credit when he has a decent game. We are level headed and know that it is a combination of things. The o-line, the running game, lack of a second WR, play calling -- all of that. We dont claim JC is Peyton Manning or the "untouchable" Brady. What we claim is people love to hate but rarely congratulate. You are a perfect example of this. So if you think JC is the only reason we are struggling you obviously are not watching the games close enough. As far as the sentence I highlighted that may be true. But in the end we won the game despite those defficiencies -- he battled back and helped us win the game. You are not a hater because you have a opinion. You are a hater because all you do is hate!!
To be honest, I am sick of hearing the term hater. Hate is a pretty strong emotion, too strong for someone to feel towards a NFL QB. Hate is a very strong dislike of someone on a personal level, The purest form of hate is murder. I highly doubt anyone in this forum wants to see any harm to JC or even mildly dislike the guy. The question at hand, or rather the debate is whether or not JC's deficiencies are entirely or mostly on his supporting cast. Some seem to think so, some don't. For those who don't, to call them a hater is ridiculous. I think JC has been screwed around so much that he is ruined in terms of being an effective starting QB, just like Spurrier killed off Ramsey's career by throwing him to the wolves in a half assed offensive scheme. JC lacks the intangible fundamentals of a true successful starting NFL QB that our fellow Warpath compadre has rather effectively interated. With the various OC changes and new schemes the kid could never get totally comfortable to boot. JC shows almost the exact same thing folks complained about Ramsey in holding the ball to long, etc. We all know what Gibbs did to Ramsey now don't we? Bottom line is calling someone a hater because he doesn't agree with you about a certain topic or a certain athlete is going overboard. |

Well given that you bring up Gus Frerotte in what seems to be every one of your posts, I would say that you have too strong emotions for an average QB. |

I will guarantee you that a couple of years from now, I doubt anyone would have any "emotions" for Campbell. |

i garauntee you that a couple years from now, we won't even remember his first name.

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie
Isnt that what we have now?? and ppl have similiar emotions for him.
Well, he's the current quarterback of the team. Maybe he is just another Frerotte. There's nothing wrong with that. Coming out of the Redskins development system, it takes pretty impressive character to hang around as long as Frerotte or Ramsey did.
Still if we win any games in the short term, it's going to be more because of Campbell than in spite of him. |

I'm sure we will, but this dude (GusFrerotte) talks about Frerotte as though he was Darrell Green or Riggo. |
Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie
Please stop looking at his numbers, JC has no leadership and he is still scared when he looks down the field, his numbers are overrated due to the prevent defense that teams put on him at the end of second quarter and the end of the game. Stop defending him, he has time and he cant read the defense, an I AM FING TIRED OF IT. Whew feel better now.

Because he's 83 years old and behind our OL he would get broken. Dan's got enough problems, paying disability on a senior citizen shouldn't be another one! |
Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie
Not to add more fuel to the fire but here's some by Peter King. Referencing Charley Casserly...
The Redskins probably are going to have to get a quarterback after the season. Charley Casserly had some good tape Sunday on the CBS pregame show of Jason Campbell ignoring open receivers downfield to consistently throw checkdowns. This echoes what opposing coaches have been saying, and it's certainly part of why McDaniels wouldn't trade Cutler to the Redskins in April; he wanted a quarterback he could trust and one he felt he could win with, and that quarterback was not Campbell. This is a game the Redskins defense is going to have to win, and I don't think they can hold the Eagles down. Philly's explosive plays will carry the day. Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie
i saw that in the SI article as well... Campbell is not the only - or biggest - problem with this offense, but he's a big part of our inability to score touchdowns.

Yes, there's no excuses for JC. He's had his chance. Add QB to the wishlist. At the same time, i'm not against keeping him for a few more years. He'll be cheap and he'll have experience. Doesn't mean he has to start. We may go offensive lineman in this draft, and hell, we'll most likely need someone to be QB for a year or two. We could have the opportunity to draft a potential franchise QB too, and that may be tough to pass over. |

Wow, I had NO IDEA Campbell was the person calling the stretch-left plays inside the 10 and running the ball in passing situations. I bet he's also the reason we're not trying fade routes to our tall WRs too! Golly gee willikers...thanks for helping us understand this complipl...complloc...this hard football stuff! Glad someone here has fancy book-learnin'! I'll update the stats again after the MNF game. Cutler laid another 3-interception rotten egg in the Bears' 45-10 beatdown by the Bengals and Sanchez was again mediocre as the Jets used the running game to the tune of 316 rushing yards to beat the Raiders. |

Campbell has not been bad considering the broken system he's forced to play in. He'd be great to see if he can play better under a competent play-caller next year with a big-name coach. If we can draft Colt McCoy, I say take him...although we should be concentrating on the O-line. Campbell can start the season while McCoy gets ready...and if he falters, he can be replaced and the blame must go on him since Zorn will be gone. I still see a lot of talent and leadership qualities in Campbell. If he had a coach that could make use of them to their fullest, he could still be our QB for the future. People say he's had a chance...but really, with the line Cerrato has built (or failed to build to be accurate) and the failed Zorn experiment that has been in charge of the offense, Jason really HASN'T had a chance. When the line is healthy for the first few weeks of the last few seasons, he's looked great. As the line falls apart with no quality backups, the entire offense stalls. Adding in the mix that Zorn can't call plays...he really had no chance to succeed to his potential. Please just say NO to TEBOW. |

Re: Campbell's numbers dont lie
the sad part is JC isnt even throwing it on time when his first read receiver is open open.
ive posted on here a couple times that imo JC needs his first read to be open open for any passing play over 10 yds to click. apparently (atleast from this small sampling) shows that even when zorn calls a perfect play, the reciever runs a good route and JCs first read is open, he still doesnt get the ball out on time. |
