Thats nice news for an industry coming off a terrible year in 2012. I mean great, lets get rid of one of the more promising games out there. Hopefully we end up with a Sleeping Dogs/True Crime situation where another company finishes it.
Has anyone beside me finished Bioshock Infinite yet? I've been dying to talk about the ending but no one has finished it yet. It was so complicated I actually had to look it up on the internet to have it make any sense to me. But now that I understand it... Mind = blown.
Spoil it and I will destroy you. Theres not enough games out there these days so I'm going to take my damn sweet time with Infinity :D

Does everyone ship with media mail on that site?

Seems like anytime I've had something sent that way it takes weeks to get it.

If it is a game I always ship 1st class priority it is nearly the same price. You can upgrade your shipping too. I think it is $3.99. Most people for the most part ship priority mail unless it is books.

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

Expedited shipping is $5.49. Not horrible but that still brings the price up closer to $50. I'll just wait for it to drop down to $39 on Amazon.

Without giving anything away (if possible), can you say if there is any connection between Infinite and the original game/Rapture. I have a few guesses but I'll probably have to play the game to see about them.

Man get with the times people. Stop being lame and start being awesome by going digital.

Seriously though the last physical copy of a game I bought was Halo 4 in November and that was mainly because there was no digital version available on X-Box Live plus it was on sale on Amazon at the time so I figured if I was going to get a physical copy I might as well get it as a discount.

I don't know if it's lazy or smart but I just love being able to turn on my console or PC and start up a game without having to insert a disc.

I download games when I can on XBL but it takes forever for the prices to drop. No way I'm paying full price on a game that's been out for 6 months or more.

$5.49? Must have gone up.

By the time it is $39 on Amazon it be peanuts on half.com

But i hear you 40 on amazon knowing you have no problems and shipped fast is worth it.

There is a connection but it's pretty minor and only mentioned on the voxophone. Considering Rapture is post-Columbia, there's very little mention of it.

But something pretty cool involving Rapture happens towards the end of the game.

yeah i use steam for humble bundle games and gog.com for old games... i only buuy them on sale, and usually that means about 50 cents for humble or $2.5 or so for gog.

considering most AAA titles now are either MMOs, pay to win match games (which i was soo over in 1998), or FPS's (which i like, but i don't need to play 40 new FPs's every year), it's been working out alright.

Same here. Pretty much every game I've bought lately has been on sale with the exception of NHL 13, Far Cry 3, Resident Evil 6 (huge mistake but I was desperate at the time), and Bioshock Infinity.

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

bioshock is probably worth it, and the new rome total war probably will be too... but there are so many indie and good games from the 90s. and i mean, the new wasteland and torment games are only $20. kronos is $20 (think new battle isle/M.A.X.), shovel knight is $10 (mega man-ish), and they have teams that'll stand up with anyone.

part of the indie games explosion is the unity engine that got a LOT better over the last few years. it'll do anything and it's like $1,000 to start, which is much better than the $100,000+ unreal id etc used to charge (unreal is now $99 + 25% of all profits over 50k, meaning that you've either got to REALLY want what they have, or you're making a very small sales FPS-ish game).

speaking of which, dirtbag - if you want, you can pledge to shovel knight and they'll actually mail you an envelope of signed dirt... not weird at all.

Re: New Games on the Horizon (the video game thread)

In regards to the new Bioshock, though I usually feel that the 1950's themes are overused in games the early 1900's are a lot more interesting if for nothing more then they bring older worlds to life that a lot of us only know in boring and depressing black and white photos. On top of that they're not overdone in the video game world.

In the meantime I'm also playing the Walking Dead which I bought a while ago but never really got around to playing. Suffice to say It's actually easy to see how it was worthy of the game of the year awards it won.

civ games?

if you want older games, gog.com has a ton of great ones, though the gfx quality isn't always super awesome. they're got heroes of might and magic 3 complete among other things.
Since Madden NFL 25 skipped 12 years is named to commemorate the series' 25th anniversary, it shouldn't be surprising that EA Sports recently unveiled a special Anniversary Edition. What is a little surprising are the contents of the special edition, which includes a free one-year subscription for DirecTV's NFL Sunday Ticket service, allowing fans to watch every out-of-market NFL game throughout the season.

EA Sports tells us that the subscription is limited to the NFL Sunday Ticket computer, tablet and mobile service. Additionally, those who are able to receive DirecTV service in their area can get $10 off per month for the service, which starts at $225, as well as a free subscription to the higher-tier NFL Sunday Ticket MAX.
I think I'll be ordering this.

I can't get over how many people (Xbox fanboys/girls included) have already thrown it under the bus and said they're switching over to PS4. I'm a Sony fangirl so I was planning on going for the PS4 anyway, I just don't understand all of the hate.

Is it the TV thing? Is it because when they unveiled it they only pushed sports games? (I heard this complaint a lot) Is it because indie developers can't publish their games on the Xbox One? Seriously, I don't get it.

Nope. Always been a PS guy, I thought the presentation looked good yesterday until one of my coworkers (an Xbox fan) said that all the motion control stuff is already available through the Kinect. Either way the only thing that interested me on the presentation was the whole 15 exclusives thing. If none of them interest me I doubt I'll ever get one. Definitely leaning towards the PS4 anyway, even though none of the 4's new features are gamechangers for me.

Used games or games from previous Xbox consoles? It's not backwards compatible with previous Xbox games, but it's a different platform as well. This was my friends status update this morning.
Why is backwards compatibility important? Expecting backwards compatibility for PPC-based 360 games on x86-based XboxOne is not happening.
Not Xbox 360 games.

More like, "I just bought this Xbox One game from Gamestop" used.

That's what's not happening. Not backwards compatibility.

Currently, PS3 isn't backwards compatible either, you can't play PS2 games, but you can go out and buy a used copy of Madden 2013 and play it freely.

I meant used games.

[I]It has been confirmed that the "restriction" on used games means that Microsoft will charge a fee for you to play a used game, much like EA's now defunct "Online Pass" deal. So you will need a Live subscription, pay for the used game you want to play and then pay an extra, as yet undetermined, fee to play your game. As I understand it, this "pass" is only good for your account so no letting your friends borrow the used game and play it unless they also pay the fee for their account.

WTF were they thinking? Didn't they catch a clue from the horrible press that EA has received the past year? Are you shitting me? Our system won't play a used game unless you pay us a fee? They are single handily killing this platform before it even begins. You wonder why corporations go belly up? It's because morons are running the company. I sure as hell won't be getting one.
