i think for the right price this would be a pretty nice pick up and our new LB coach, Spanos, has coached Foote every year he's been in the league until last year. |

I agree. We have plenty of time and every year a big name or two gets let go during the offseason. Btw...IMO... - Dansby was overpaid. - Rolle was paid a lot more than we were willing to spend on a safety - Peppers was definitely overpaid - Clifton really didn't want to be here - As long as we have Rogers there is no reason to spend D Robinson money on a corner. (I wouldn't mind a reasonable deal for L Sheppard though) Ozzie Newsome is a friggin genius. Baltimore has to be a SB contender next year. So we sat out the expensive part of FA. That is a great thing! We will sign people. I am very confident of that. |

I am not worried at all. The only thing that might get interesting is if the Skins do make a trade with JC.

We have many needs but you can not fill them in 1 year. I like the fact that we really do have a long term plan and not just a year to year plan. You have to be able to walk before you can run. Relax we have some real football minds running the ship now.

except for the fact that whisenhunt and Grimm were in Pittsburgh when he was for most of his tenure, ya we have the position coach advantage, but arizona has the 'build the steelers of the west' type advantage and replace our pro bowl LB, and your going to be an automatic starter here. But ya I guess ours is a little greater.. |

I would like to see Foote here, as I said in a previous thread, we need players with 3-4 experience.

Here's another cheap vet we really need since he has plenty of experience in the ZBS, but he is already talking to another team. Come on redskins...

Id like to see Foote here, also willing to see our interest in Will Witherspoon and Lito Sheppard.
I dunno why you guys are all like "sign sum1 its been too long, im not used to this." Two Years ago DJ Hackett was the only Free Agent that visited the Redskins and we didnt even sign him so it shouldnt be all that new. And you dont wanna sign someone for the sake of signing someone. Everybody wanted Cerrato outta here and now you guys are all clamoring for "Cerrato moves." You guys arent redskins fans, ya'll are Cerrato fans haha jk :-P |

Foote would be a great pick up. IMO so far, so good. Giants grossly overpaid for Rolle, that guy is not that great and the better player for better price is Ryan Clarke in Pittsburg. Peppers landed in a great spot for him, but overpaid. Dolphins got a solid player in Dansby, but last year his playing dropped off, Foote would work just as well here for a lot cheaper. Chester Taylor IMO was only disappointment not to replace Betts. Bears got him for a great price. Clifton was a little too old for me to give 5 million per year too even thought I wouldnt been too critical of the signing being that we are desperate to fill at least one tackle position. I think now is our time to get good to decent players at more of there true value. The tackle from San Fran is a must sign cause we need a vet tackle to match with the rookie we will draft at the other spot. The other signing I would like would be Kevin Walter to replace the ARE spot in the WR corp. Foote would be an ideal signing at LB. |

Ummmm...not spending all this money is cool and all but is anyone else alittle nervous about how the hell are we going to fill all of these holes we created with the cuts. Is Allen just trying to prove a point. Like "see, i won't spend any of Synder's money and we will still suck. Yay!.. C'mon....lets do something.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I am not nervous at all. We as fans are so used to having big names come in by the moment free agancy starts and then thinking all of our problems are solved.
There are still what about 170 days or so till training camp starts. We have still have trades to make, the draft, thier are players who will be let go here and there as well. There are plenty of ways to fill out the roster with quality NFL football players. I would not be surprised if we make a trade or 2 especially if we trade away a couple of our guys. |

Chicago is a better place for Chester Taylor because he'll be the starter there. We need Pashos because there isn't much else out there at the OT position. Kevin Walter re-signed with Houston but I suspect that the new regime will want Santana Moss to play the slot. I'd love to see a trade for Brandon Marshall but that doesn't seem to be realistic because it looks like Seattle may give up a first round pick (#14) for him. Also, I hope were at least looking at Dwan Edwards of the Ravens as a potential DE in our new 3-4. The guy can play. |

Yea I'm definitely nervous because we are not the seahawks with 11 picks in the draft where it would make sense if we didn't do squat in f/a. All the talk about how the F/O has a plan and vision for the future.... well where the hell is the plan, nothing has been addressed yet besides resigning players we cut. I was not expecting them to sign peppers and go all out like we do every year but come on, Shanny said it himself when he was introduced that he loved an owner who was willing to give him all the resouces (MONEY) to go out and put together a winning team so then what's the problem? I get that it's not a HOT market for talent this year in the free agency but we could have addressed a few important spots by now instead of being patient and be left with s*it players to choose from. |

If you noticed most of the players that were free agents that signed yesterday signed on there first visit, and that was the team they liked the most anyway. The players didn't want to come here and they didn't. Clifton used us to get more money out of the Packers he never intented on sign with us anyway some reports say. |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
They way that the Skins are going in FA so far looks similar to the way that Bruce Allen cut a bunch of Vets in Tampa when he got there, they also didnt make any signifigant additions in free agency, then ended up with some OK draft picks...Like it or not this is a rebuilding year, that will end up in very few wins in 2010....

I'm fine with a down year as long as the team gives it there all and we make some progress to being a contender last year it just seems they weren't hunger & eager to win. |

No, I'm not worried. More than anything we need to establish a team culture where people are paid what they are worth, rather than having overpaid "owner's pets." And this is the way to do it. Most of the FA guys who have signed with other teams are not worth their contracts. Good players, yes, but not worth $7m/$8m/$12m a year. I am guessing (and that is all that it is) that we have already tested trade waters and liked what we heard. From this, I presume that over the next few weeks we'll hear of several trades for draft picks. Then, on draft day, we'll have more picks for filling holes. |

You want us to outdo the contract we gave ArchDeluxe by beating the contract Rolle got from the Giants? Or give ANOTHER Haynesworth-like contract(Peppers)? Danny may be a fine businessman, but he sure as hell doesn't understand the concept of diminshing marginal utility |
Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
Also the guys that we cut have not helped this team win, and some straight up hindered us from winning. That being said I am shocked we kept Portis.
As far as worrying about our record this year when we are in March is a little ridiuclous. Who knows how well we will do, but I do know we have a strong coaching staff that will be looking to get the most out of our players. And by no means are they set as far as the roster goes. |

Wow. Just Wow. Rant on Mr. Cerratto. It is day two of the of Free Agency and we are doomed. Can we please have some patience? Who says the FO didn't look at the big names and say, "You know what, none of these guys fits with what we are trying to do". "The problem" is a fan base that thinks all problems can be fixed in the first two days of free agency. <sigh> |

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread
I still could see a Darren Sproles here. This kinda move depends on what we can get for some of the guys that have value on our roster. I seriously doubt that we are done dropping/trading guys. There are no positions on our roster that are set as of yet.
