It's damn near unbelievable that he would do that, yet I do believe it. Hubris. Pure hubris.[/quote] I think the timeline would go something like this: 2015 offseason: Jay Gruden comes out and says RG3 is the guy and we are going to fully support him. Kirk is nothing more than an afterthought. 2015 training camp: Gruden/McC are slowly realizing RG3 is still garbage, especially around the time when we are holding simultaneous TC with the Pats (and the post camp reports that the Pats thought Cousins was better.) 2015 preseason: RG3 gets injured with the concussion, which lets Gruden/McC make their move to establish Cousins as the starter. Snyder is furious, prob still bitter that RG3 sucks years after giving up a bounty for him. Snyder dislikes Cousins because he really hasn't done anything during the regular season so far. 2015 games 1-8: Snyder sees Cousins looking weak out of the gate, with each passing game tries to figure out a way to get rid of Cousins and possibly non-Bruce Allen management for dissing his boy RG3. 2015 games 9-16: Begrudgingly admits the greatest comeback in Redskins history was semi-cool, tries not to get too hyped about it. Cousins then goes on to have an excellent second half but Snyder still isn't 100% sold. Cousins doesn't say anything but clearly the McC vote of confidence helped him step his game up. 2016 offseason: Cousins gets tagged, we play the wait-and-see game. 2016 first two games: Cousins looks mediocre out of the gate, Snyder is either furiously overreacting or at least mildly panicking that 2015 season pt.2 was a fluke, starts wondering if Cousins has any trade value left. 2016 - current: Cousins making Snyder look dumb again. Maybe Snyder has learned to just sign the checks and let McC make football decisions. Not putting my money on that though. |

16 td's and 4 picks since week 2 and we really have to sit here and think there's a chance he walks? I think having all this good qb play has made people forget how much garbage we had to sift through to find this gem. Just so you guys don't forget: Almost 15 wasted years of: RG "broken" 3 John "can't complete forward passes" Beck! Sexy Rexy Grossman Donovan "coasting" Mcnabb Jason "meh" Campbell/Todd "career backup" Collins Mark "ancient" Brunell Patrick "shellshocked" Ramsey Shane "gunslinger" Matthews! Danny "college brah" Wuerffel! Tony "can't remember" Banks Jeff "get off the stage Ralphie" George! The last time we had a qb this competent, we let him go to TB and win a Superbowl. Stop trying to fuck this good thing up. |

Snyder is on board with winning, period. This bologna about him possibly not wanting Cousins is totally ridiculous and completely unfounded. Did you see him in the booth last night? He looked like a kid on Christmas FFS.

There just aint no when or "if" we let KC go anymore. Dan Snyder is about as he thrilled as he could be right now with this team, that he would root for even if he were a postman, and you know who is at the heart of that excitement? Yes. KC. You can stop suggesting that we "might" let him go now. After every game that "might" just gets more ridiculous. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Cousins isn't going anywhere for along time
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Watching the Raiders vs Texans and realizing how fortunate we are to have Cousins instead of Carr and Osweiler. Carr is very good, Osweiler is average at best. At least Shanahan did 2 things right, getting Cousins and Reed.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I have seen Osweiler play a couple of times and, from what I have seen, last night was his best performance by far. I saw one game (don't remember which) where he was just horrible - absolutely no accuracy at all and just not comfortable in the pocket even when not under duress.

To be fair Brock Osweiler has started 17 regular season games in his entire career. He lacks experience. I am not saying he will be a star or that he will fail. But not to long ago when we had QB's that lacked experience, we had the same issues. Even with KC. Not all QB's can jump for college to NFL and play well. A few can. |

Not 100% sure not watching tons of film on Carr, but to me it looks like Cousins has the better arm and a very quick release. When Cousins is in rhythm he gets the ball off almost immediately. Like i said haven't seen tons of Carr, but I believe that Cousins is the better QB |

Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Best fucking quarterback in the league at this particular moment.
His deep ball has become deadly. So accurate. Not making mistakes. Rarely takes a sack. Code red mother lovin trap evading baller. Give the man money and a defense and he can win you a championship. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
yea.....he was pretty good today...that is a quote from Gruden! I got news for you Gruden he was a lot better than you . Cousins is the best QB we have had maybe since Joe T. there is somebody inside this organization that is not sold on Cousins..not sure who it is. Hard to believe its Gruden..maybe Scott?? The redzone breakdown is all play calling. the whole RZ playbook needs a overhaul. remember the cornerFade that didn't work? Gruden trying to defend Fuller..what the heck is Fuller doing on DEZ anyway? another coach issue..the fact that they tried the onside kick tells me Gruden knows we could not stop Dallas so they just sped up the TD..so the question is whats going to happen to shore up this D ??
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Nobody that is anybody important is not sold on Cousins. They may be sold on some dumb idea that you do not need a top tier qb to win. You cannot watch this guy over the last 20 games and see anything other than a qb coming into his prime in a big way.

And for that reason I couldn't be happier after a loss to the cowdicks on turkey day. Honestly we got a stud at qb. A straight up assassin. We will bolster our d. We have Doctson in the waiting room. We have a shit ton of weapons on offense. We just need a few playmakers on the other side. Two? Three? Whatever your feelings are about our staff it would win a shit ton of games with just a few pieces on D. The future is very bright. |

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
This kid is very impressive. We finally found a franchise QB.
|
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
I do not think this is all about KC. I think it's about the tandem. As long as Gruden is the coach, KC will be our QB. KC is a good QB, but he excels in Gruden's system. While I think it is a little pass happy, it is still a good system.
If the wheels fell off the wagon this year, and the Redskins had to find a new coach, would KC fit the new scheme? If they signed him to a long-term deal last year, they would have had to bring a new coach that runs a version of the west coast offense. Maybe that was part of the reason they brought in Callahan? Norv Turner is the last coach to make it more than fours years. In today's a lot of coaches do not make it more than 4 years. Jay is 16 in tenure, and I could see him moving up to 13th by the end of the season. It was a smart move not to sign KC to a long-term deal last year. They need to lock up Jay and Kirk and end the drama. The bigger question is Scot M and Jay. Do they mesh? Jay is about big boy smash mouth football and Jay is a complex passing offense. Can they mesh and work together for 4, 5, or 6 more years? |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
That TAG story came out before the game i was baffled by it honestly... starting the drama!

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Per Twitter.
Kirk Cousins put up 41 completions, 449 yards, 3 TD, and no INT. He's the first QB in NFL history to reach those numbers in a single game. |
Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
If you haven't been in awe the last couple of weeks you just don't appreciate great QB play. Kirk has moved his game to an even higher level than where he was in the last 9 games last year.

Re: Kirk Cousins 24/7 thread
Gruden/McVay need to scrap the red zone play book and build a brand new one from scratch. I don't think the coaches are putting Cousins in a good position to be successful in the red zone. Its really our only weakness on offense. We fix that, we are a top 3 offense in the NFL.
