I wish they had addressed it already, but there's still plenty of time to fix the LB situation, either through the draft or free agency. Other than LB, it's really hard for me to criticize this offseason so far. And, they have done a pretty good job finding contributors after the draft.

2021 for example:
Ereck Flowers
Charles Leno
Bobby McCain
Ricky Seals-Jones

I still trust that they wills shore up this defense, the O-line, and grab another weapon for Wentz between now and September. If so, they could surprise some folks.
Ok, you made an excellent point here. I actually did not remember those guys were post draft signings... I'll shut it up and wait and hope then ! :laughing-

They are definitely looking still - at all positions, but obviously have a price in mind. Sounds like they were in on CB Patrick Peterson, before he resigned with the Vikings on a team-friendly deal.

I'm glad they aren't just throwing money around, and are looking for the right players at the right prices, including the ones they brought back from last year.

Me too. But congrats to Carter. He represents everything you want from an underdog to be successful. He exceeded his pay grade for us. I hope he sticks in the league. An easy guy to pull for.

At the same time for us, would have been happy to keep him, but not a huge concern.

I feel like we'll extend McLaurin, Samuel will be healthy, and we draft Olave at 11.

We had The Posse and now we will have The Buckeye Bandits.

Note - Last year, lots of pundits were surprised (and my non-pundit self) that Olave went back to OSU last year.

FO has done a good job of finding useful cheap FAs like Carter.

Just hope the percentage of good finds continues and we continue to get good production from the FA depth guys.

Carter checked 2 boxes for us, hopefully we find a replacement.

Washington Commanders announced that social media influencer Katie Feeney will be the team's first-ever “Commanders

Social media influencer. I am starting to feel like an old crank, but how about delivering a good product on the field and letting that do the talking? (Geez, I am a few keystrokes away from "get off my lawn").

I agree. I get having social media presence...but this is weird. It's not like the clever and funny responses on Twitter and other platforms. Taco bells and Wendy's social media comes to mind with quick funny responses. This is a tiktok personality. Found this on some wiki lage.

"Katie Feeney is an American TikTok Star and Social Media Personality who has a net worth of $1 Million. She is popularly known for uploading dance, unboxing, DIY, and comedy videos on her TikTok account."

This is what jumping the shark looks like.

I’m not as negative on the social media influencer as you guys are. This is designed to reach out to younger generation on their platforms. It does nothing for me personally but I don’t see how this hurts. She has 6.8 million tik tok followers and 2.2 million subscribers on YouTube. She is from Maryland and a fan of the team. You want to grow a younger and female audience this is not a bad attempt.

Just seeing the word "influencer" grinds my gears. I have nothing against any particular one, but as a whole, yuck. I'm probably just jelly because a lot of them make a lot of money for taking pictures of themselves lol. Bastards.

I don't know. I get it...but I hate it. I hate the whole "grow the brand" moniker that's always thrown around. More worried about fluff than product. And it seems that's just how business is done nowadays. It's not necessarily about a good product, more about the packaging the stuff comes in. I don't think I'm expressing it correctly, though.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1

Looking cute and getting Tiktok views is how teens get attention from each other and when they all see Katie wearing Commanders stuff in her TikToks it slowly makes the Commanders brand a little cooler in the minds of those teens. And those teens eventually become the 25-44s that spend money.

Nothing would make the new brand stick quite like winning, but the business side is doing what it can. Winning is probably too much to ask for this fucktard organization.

I don't understand Tik Tok. I have never been on it and will never go on it. A bunch of idiots on there doing dumb shit for money. And these so called influencers? lol. These young kids make me want to vomit but I do respect the hustle. Get your money, even if some of them makes fools of yourselves doing it. I know if all this shit was around when I was young I'd be all over it. Some of the crazy shit me and my friends did would be getting millions of views.. We all laugh about it when we get together.

saying they don't work is a bit disingenuous. Whether that work is overcompensated is another question. (Parallels to "are athletes paid too much?")

however, for everyone that does end up making a million+ a year, there are thousands of failed influencer wannabes that spend a lot of time for nothing.

It's a branding/marketing business and spending 2-3 years trying to convince people that you're worth something (and generally getting little money and a bunch of trolling in return is a not great experience).

same as youtube or twitch or instagram etc etc etc

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1

In an offseason that has seen record-breaking contracts for wide receivers, three of the NFL's top young players at the position are looking for new deals of their own.

Sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter that 49ers star Deebo Samuel, Titans wideout A.J. Brown and Commanders receiver Terry McLaurin are seeking new contracts and are not expected to participate in any on-field work during their respective teams' offseason programs.

The Titans and Commanders begin their offseason programs Monday, while the Niners start Tuesday. Brown does not intent to report Monday, a source told ESPN's Turron Davenport, but McLaurin still plans to report on time for the start of Washington's program, a source told Schefter.

Not too worried, this is "normal" in negotiations. Would love to see what we offered him and what he requested.

Hope the team gets it done this offseason and we dont have to tag.

Great post.

Understanding an influencer is something anyone that went to high school in the US, at any point in time, can relate to. Think back to your high school graduating class. There are probably about 10-20 kids you can think of who were 'cool', that others (or even you) looked up to. They were often good looking, nominated for prom king & queen, maybe they were cheerleaders, or star athletes, or very likeable. Sometimes they were bullies.

Now think of the one person in that group who stood out as exceptional in these regards. Influencers are those folks, except they figured out how to do the same thing on a social media platform and scale it up to the point where a company might pay them to espouse their brand for the sake of advertising.

Katie Feeney is that girl in school who all the girls wanted to be, and all the guys wanted to be with.

This is a shit headline on ESPN's part.

"Deebo Samuel, A.J. Brown, Terry McLaurin to skip on-field work during offseason programs amid push for new contracts, sources say"

It reads like they want people to think all 3 are holding out for new deals. Yet it clearly says in the article McLaurin is planning to attend.

Be better ESPN.

Also for the love of fucking god, pay McLaurin. Get it done already. This organization really sets records for shitting on its' talented players and then letting them walk for peanuts afterwards.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1

They have plenty of time to offer Terry an extension, if they haven't done so already. I don't think either side is under any pressure to get something done ASAP. A lot of times these extensions happen over the summer. I'll start to get concerned if nothing happens by August.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1

Does McLaurin even want to be here? Sounds like people are just assuming that. If he does then they'll get something done. But what if he wants to leave? Or is asking for Adams type of cash? Just something to keep in mind.

Schneed10 04-19-2022 08:09 AM

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1

I think ESPN is saying all three of those receivers plan to skip on field portion of the offseason program. But, Terry plans to report on time to the offseason program.

So he'll sit in meetings and be around but he won't run around on the field and risk blowing out a knee like Reuben Foster.
