Re: Do You Want Jason Campbell Back in 2010?
yeah i know and agree. the announcer yesterday said the same "you can win with jason campbell" mantra but he also said "things just dont process quickly enough for him". i agree with both, that you can win with JC and that his D reads and decision making just doesnt click fast enough.
Those are contradictory statements by that guy. Basically he is saying he has the tools, but is too slow to read the defense quickly enough to be a winner. This guy just lost to Norv's second and 3rd stringers yesterday. Great stats, but still lost. THe only real stat in my mind that counts is Ws. Look at Flacco, crappy stats yardage wise, but he wins. JC isn't going to have a solid team in place for another 2-4 seasons. Do you think we will keep him for that long? Also, he only "broke out" when the season was a total loss, he sucked monkey balls beforehand. Sure you can chalk it up to Zorn, but his execution still sucked for the most part. Guy has been around too long keeping the bad habits he still has. |

Actually what he said was that 'in the pocket, Campbell seems slow in his progressions' while making the point that he thinks JC is much more effective rolling out and making decisions on the move. |
A more likely possibility is bringing former Redskins Sage Rosenfels as a backup QB/caretaker starter
i'd be fine with that, but i'm not sure what he'd have to offer that campbell doesnt, other than familiarity with the system. It would also depend on what favre does in 2010. I can see the vikings releasing him or trading him for minimal compensation if favre returns, but if he doesn't he'd be too valuable for them to get rid of. |
Re: Do You Want Jason Campbell Back in 2010?
I want someone to ask Campbell does he want to comeback and have an even shorter career because he got the ish smacked out of him every week. He would be better off in Oakland than Washington.
I don't know if that is really the issue now. With the new regime coming in there is no way to tell what the oline and the Redskins as a whole are going to look like next year. I imagine that there will be a vast improvement in Oline play in 2010. And Jason sure as hell doesn't want ot end up out there in Oakland. As long as Al davis is alive. |
A new coach usually means a new QB. Especially with a guy who is so hands on with his QB's like Shanahan. I've got no problem with drafting a QB if that's the decision.
I agree that a new coach usually means a new QB but the only QB Shanny had success with is Elway who was a superstar before Shanny got there. |

Cutler played his best ball under him, who knows where that could have led to. Elway had some of his best years under Shanahan. |

Upgrade if he's replacing Collins. |

Elway had some of his best years under Shanahan.
I think Elway had great years under his other coach too. Cutler might have played good ball but they didnt win so it didnt seem like it was going to lead anywhere. In his last 3 seasons at Den Shanny was 24-24. Who knows, maybe had they stuck with him it might have but I wonder if DS will stick with him if he's 24-24 after 3 seasons. |

At this point, 3 consecutive 8-8 seasons look great for us! :D

Re: Do You Want Jason Campbell Back in 2010?
Yes.
None of the college quarterbacks available in the draft look like a first year starter. None of the potential free agent veterans look any better than Campbell. I would concentrate on offensive line, linebacker and secondary in the draft. I would pick up a quarterback in the middle rounds. I'm not impressed with the top quarterbacks. None are worth a first round selection. WalterFootball.com: 2010 NFL Draft: Quarterback Rankings |

A good blog on Clausen, I agree with it WalterFootball.com: The NFL Matt Draft - Matt McGuire's NFL Draft Blog We will be incredibly lucky if he falls to us. I don't think he'll get past STL though. The other QBs are not first round talent IMO, including Bradford. |

This is simply not true. He got both Griese and Cutler to the pro bowl as well as securing a pro bowl alternate spot for Jake Plummer in 2005. To say he hasn't had success with QB's since he won the Super Bowl is like saying that up until now the Saints have failed with Drew Brees because they haven't even been to the Super Bowl with him as their QB. This will be said a lot over the next few weeks, heck it's already been said, but Elway had lost 3 Super Bowls before Shannahan came in. |
Re: Do You Want Jason Campbell Back in 2010?
Good catch Slingin' Sammy, Clausen is rated a franchise caliber QB, but will he be available at #4? I don't think so. I also question his Pro potential. Brady Quinn, also from Notre Dame was highly rated and is still hasn't fully developed. If Clausen is so good, why did Notre Dame struggle so much. I'm not sold on this quarterback draft class. The Redskins need to draft a left tackle in the first round. I like Russell Okung, Oklahoma State and Bruce Campbell, Maryland.
