Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
I didn't get why he said that. Why wouldn't we just draft Williams? I know he's not a 3-4 end but he's potentially a great player.
My guess is he would take Williams but diligence is to listen to offers.

Williams would be a steal at #5, I'm sure SM would love to be in that position to field offers.

So what if Williams is not a 3-4 end,Williams is a great football player. We will not be in 3-4 all the time. Frankly, I am tired of all of this 3-4 talk. Yes, it is our supposed base defense, but if we draft Williams and we dominate or play better in a 4-3 rather than 3-4, I would think our coaches are smart enough and humble enough to be open to a change. HOF Joe Gibbs changed his Air Coryell offense to Riggo Counter Trey. Our current coaches are not HOF. |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
Williams could play any spot on the DL.

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
If Williams makes it to 5 that should be the end of our night. Make the LB's job that much easier

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
So with all the concentration McC has spent on rebuilding the Dline shows the value he places on that area of the football team...and now he has the ability to add the best Dline player in the draft and possibily the highest rated player as well...you think he would be pass that up?
I dont think he would |

Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
I would agree. He has a blue print on how to do things. But with that being said, he passed on Aaron Rodgers for Alex Smith. In other words, just like every NFL GM, he has bad misses.
I'd call that more of a good call by the Pack than a bad miss by the 9ers... neither here nor there. |

From WalterFootball. Interesting take on Williams and why maybe Scott M. would trade down. Picks 3-5.

Just seems more of a 4-3 penetrating type of tackle, and not someone who eats up blockers for the lb's. |
Re: With the 5th pick in the draft the Washington Redskins select...
What am I missing on Cooper? I guess I just don't see a special player in him. He's very likely going to be a solid receiver, but he'll never be an elite #1. He doesn't have the size, athleticism, or ball skills in the air to ever be great at contested balls. One of his strengths is supposed to be run-after-the-catch, but way too often he's brought down right away. And what about the drops? And what about his terrible blocking? His best aspect is probably his route-running, but it's hard to project this to the NFL because of how Kiffin used him. To me, Cooper is going to have a Pierre Garcon-like impact on his team's passing game. He's going to be a good #2, or maybe a serviceable #1 if you focus on getting him the ball. But he will not be worth #5 overall.
I don't want a receiver at #5, but if forced, White would be my choice over Cooper. |
