Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
Yep, the old "I said some stupid shit and now my image is taking a hit so i better offer a phony apology".

Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
Brees is a good guy I give him credit for quickly owning up to what he said, as others have said I think his original statement just came off too harsh given the current circumstances. He could have worded it better.
So he is not allowed to voice his disapproval?
Just a guess, but I have a feeling the vets that believe the reason they fought for this country is exactly the reason for Drew Brees to voice the opinions he has too.
He can voice his disapproval of course I was just pointing out that I think his view that it is disrespectful to our military is flawed. |

Agreed. There are lots of flaws in most things being said today. |

Ex-Chargers/Pats/Redskins WR Reche Caldwell was killed in an attempted robbery in Tampa last night. RIP. |
Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
The reason all of the veterans who served and fought was to protect our nation, all of its people, our Constitution and all the freedoms that the Constitution protects. Many have died to protect our Freedom of Speech (which is what kneeling is - stating an opinion), even if we may not agree with what is said.

Re: Offseason: Around the NFL
I feel like I could, right now, build a better starting OL (for 2020) and entire secondary from the remaining FA than we have on our roster.

Man, I hope we don't have to deal with this sh*t any time soon:

Dont show up? Year doesnt accrue. Who would be the nearest candidate to hold out now? Maybe McLaurin if he balls out this year. Hed have 2 years left on his deal but he is getting paid 681k this season, then 794 and 874. I could see him wanting a new deal, if he balls out. Payne and Allen are coming up. Scherff is tagged. |

Scherff -- im torn on what the FO should do with him. Should they sign him to a LTD now, making him top 5 paid for guards? Let him play on the tag and see if he can stay healthy, then most likely pay him more then vs you would now? My heart says pay the man, my brain says lets see him play a full season first. |

But I think he means he wants to meet guys and get to know them before they start talking extensions. Once that happens I expect them to try and re-up Scherff before FA next year to save some money. We might hear about an extension during the season. Also I'd have to dig it up again but even though the training camp fines can't be waived, I'm pretty sure that accrued season doesn't go away for training camp holdouts. |
