It's been reported that was an actual comment Shanahan made in reference to Royster.

Helu and Royster possess good speed, quickness and cutting ability, which is expected to suit Washington’s zone-blocking running scheme well.

I want to be optimistic but, why will these guys crack the lineup and contribute significantly when guys drafted last year couldn't do it?

Considering that most 4th and lower rounders aren't expected to be starters, it's not [I]that[/I] bad. We only had one high round pick, and he(Trent) had a good rookie season. This year, we can at least hope our top 3 picks will be studs for us.

This wasnt a particularly strong draft for Oline outside a couple tackles, couple guards/center. SS has said we got a couple guys targeted all ready in free agency.

My only disappointment with this draft was no NT choice. This draft offered a variety of options with the NT position and we walk away with no choices. Every different type of sizes, styles, etc. and we got zero. Kemo is done. I like keeping Bryant under contract and in the rotation, but we desperately need someone in there to help. Hopefully free agency can yeild us someone.

Neild is our [backup] NT choice.

I think Helu and Royster will both contribute and turn into good picks. Overall I think we did a pretty good job this year.

That would be nice , I read ( can't remember where ) , that Royster is exceptional in pass protection as well as catching passes out of the backfield . We should have a nice rotation ( Torian / K. Williams ) ,who knows , maybe J. Davis ( Clemson 2nd /yr ) will make an impact , ran 4.3 40 at Clemson .

Good insight about the NT. To be fair, starting quality NT's were lacking in this class. More than any other FA, I would like us to sign Aubrayo Franklin to solidify the NT position.

If we go into the season with Bryant and Neild as our NT's, it is going to be another long season for our defense.

Well, the fella was a captain on on his college team and we have a bunch of dead weight just waiting to be jettisoned(Haynesworth and Kemo). I say that he's got the mental makeup and the team has (or SHOULD have) the space for him.

Does nobody like A. BRYANT? He ws a beast the last 2 games he played last year... With Jenkins on one side, and now Kerrigan. I think our defense will improve greatly.

I like Bryant ok. He had some good moments last year.

But he is an average NT. Not bad but not great. And the 3-4 begins with the NT. An average NT results in many ways in an average defense.

What we really need is a rotation with Bryant and then another truly good player.

Shanahan & Allen have to be applauded for realizing the Redskins are not going to restocked with talent in one year. It will take at least two years to do it the right way. The QB AND OL talent was not deep in this draft and many teams needed both, causing high demand and reaching. This draft was a lot deeper on defense in particular with DL/OLB's/CB's and later rounds (3-7) with RB's, WR's LB's and DB's.
Shan/Allen turned this situation to their advantage rather than panicking thinking the world would explode if we did not take a QB. They made solid moves instead. This ain't Vinny and Danny anymore. We got us some professional football men running out FO. HTTR!

Starting NT in the draft are very tough to come by in general. But the position had decent depth this year. Franklin wants to get paid big time, i personally dont think he is worth it. But at the same time we have cleared a sh*t ton of cap space, so at a good deal, id give him a shot

Would of liked to see us take Jerrell Powe for a rotational NT with A. Bryant, I think that would of been good but I'm going to cheer for Neild, also remember Ian Williams NT from ND is still out there undrafted, competition is a good thing. HTTR.

Part of me feels that Neild will be just as good if not better then Powe. Powe while about 15 pounds heavier is much rounder then Neild. It's amazing how much muscle Neild has for a 320 pounder. At the very least Neild's conditioning seems to be great for a man his size. Either way so long as he doesn't have the same problem Kemo had with the roller skates he'll be fine (though in all fairness Kemo was coming off a hell of an injury).
