And neither. I don't know what it represents. I kinda want the numbers gone but we know how that worked for you.
Well apparently there's some other jerk named Dirtbag that hasn't posted since Bush was in office so I just decided to have the 3 removed from the numbers instead so I could have my high school number. Actually to be honest I kind of like it better that way.
We have two number 26's?
For now, yes. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I don't wanna be EARTHQUAKE689 though. My HS number was 31 and 99 so that doesn't help. If my birthday was 2/6/89 it could work but its 11 days after that, so I am screwed.

So I'm told "Get ready to stay up late tonight. You guys are about to sign a LB" and I think it must be Lofa for sure.
But Rocky Mac. Wow! I know the team and Rocky Mac have a solid relationship but I thought for sure he'd be moving on. If Henson stays in that PUP list he's definitely in jeopardy. I hear though that Perry is still the starter |

Could Rocky Mac go from starter to camp body? Kinda makes Rogers look foolish for his 'Redskins never sign their own' comment since just today we re-signed Rocky, Doughty & Golston.. Um, maybe it's just you dawg. |

AGREE 100%. I would almost go so far as to say that if Jarvis Jenkins doesn't beat out Carriker he has no high ceiling future as well. Reason being Carriker is a straight up first round bust who is never going to be anything but a decent starter THAT IS CARRIKER'S UPSIDE. All this talk about Jenkins showing big time flashes at camp. Yeah ok. If he is sitting on the bench come regular season that means he can't beat out a less than middle of the road talent. I will argue that means in the end Jenkins will be just another guy. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I don't buy that. For one thing, Carriker missed one year with injury and his potential really wasn't maximized when he was healthy in St. Louis. Carriker probably will never be an explosive pass rusher but I'm not sure that makes him an absolute bust.
But aside from that, Jenkins and Carriker will both get a lot of playing time. If Jenkins doesn't start I don't think that means his future is doomed to mediocrity. |

If Jenkins doesn't start I don't think that means his future is doomed to mediocrity.
My priorities for Carriker are as follows.
1. Stand up guys at the point of attack and if possible try to draw double teams. Bottom line, keep guys off our linebackers. 2. Shed blocks and make plays at the line of scrimage or in the backfield on runs 3. Bull Rush guys on passing downs and make the pocket slightly more uncomfortable. 4. Break away from blockers and get to the QB.
Basically his main job is to keep guys off our linebackers and hold up at the point of attack. If he goes all Haynesworth that leaves Fletcher and *ehhem* Tatpu vulnerable and anyone thats played football knows it's tough to be engaging a blocker head on one second and then getting off him into a position to properly wrap up a ball carrier. Most D-Lineman do it with shear size not technique. Thats what linebackers are for (proper tackling technique) and also why it's important to keep them untouched. |

So what's the argument? That a draft pick should start from day one? That a draft pick should start from day one over a perceived bust? |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I thought Carriker looked pretty good at the end of last year, like a light came on. Although he'll never be Richard Seymour, I have high hopes for him this year.
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
Seems Rocky was probably bought due to knowledge of the system and to push Riley, but I think Riley is still the starter when it's all said and done. Has said he needs more time playing, and he'll get his time to play, even if he's rotating in and out with Rocky.
|
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
I think we're going to see a lot of these DEs being rotated by Haslett.
My priorities for Carriker are as follows.
Ur priority is for him to do his job? With a touch of mediocre thrown in? I want young players for this team to start coming in from day one saying "get off the field dude you're in my way to greatness." |
I thought Carriker looked pretty good at the end of last year, like a light came on. Although he'll never be Richard Seymour, I have high hopes for him this year.
Exactly. As someone else pointed out in an analysis of our defense this past year, and which I've seen on many of the games I've rewatched since then, teams almost always tried to run away from Carriker and had less success running towards him.
Ur priority is for him to do his job? With a touch of mediocre thrown in? I want young players for this team to start coming in from day one saying "get off the field dude you're in my way to greatness."
I sense sarcasm but just in case your serious you'd basically be hoping for the team to replace Adam "get off my linebackers" Carriker for Albert "stats stats stats" Haynesworth. The reason Albert was so bad in the 3-4 packages came from the fact that he left the linebackers wide open, which would have been fine if he was making plays in the backfield but the fact of the matter is he wasn't. Only in those 4 man nickle packages was he usseful. |
Re: 2011 Redskins Free Agents Rumors and Reports-Part 3
3-4 DEs will rarely, if ever, EVER produce a pretty stat sheet because their job is to occupy and push the OL into a desired position. His job is to occupy and force the OL to address blocking him so that they DON'T block the LBs. If he (or the NT) decides to go for personal glory at the expense of his assignment, the entire D will risk giving up a big play.
The one thing a 3-4 CANNOT do is allow the opposing OL to move them. Hence, plugging in weak ass players like Golston into the 3-4 DE role often results in disaster. |

I am. Initially I was conflicted about our FA strategy but now I like what I think the Shanaplan is.. Build a competitive roster of young, hard working players.. Next year (assuming the Rexy & Bexy show doesn't bear fruit) bring a QB in to round it out and away we go.. I think the Giants are headed downwards and the Cowboys are as usual over hyped. We're another solid offseason from being a playoff team but the Hightower, Cofield, Gaffney, Kerrigan, Jenkins and Hankerson moves should pay nice dividends in '11. |

That isn't his game. I mean the guys 311 pounds. He's great at what he's suppose to do which is basically stonewall people at the line of scrimmage and help collapse the pocket. Keep in mind, just because he's a DE doesn't mean he's going to move like Dwight Freeny. In essence he's a DT that plays a little wide. |

I think Adam is going to have a solid year ... I can't say enough how much I love the depth on this team ... Bruce Allen & Shanny is so refreshing ... Jenkins was a bad ass pick and I do think he will be solid but to say he has to beat out a mediocre guy by week 1? What are you smokin'...split time fresh legs, rocky Being able to swing around I like , always had a soft spot for Rocky... I can't wait for football

The depth at End really is nice. Eventually it became painful to me midway though the year to know we were almost always ask risk to be gutted opposite Carriker. Maybe not as bad when they started using Holiday but now with Bowen and Jenkins to rotate in, maybe even with Cofield getting some time at end, well safe to say I feel much better about playing the run off both tackles. It's the Nose that worries me. I'm actually really anxious to see how Cofield chooses to handles the double teams and what types of fundamentals Haslet and company ask him to employ. The Giants had him doing way to much dancing around and spying for my taste. On the flip side when he tried to bull rush he usually got a push, and he really is pretty good with his hands. Also would be nice if Neild would emerge. From looking closely at Bryant in that same game I'm wondering if he's a 50-50 player. Half the time he's playing like the 2010 version of Kemo and the other half he's playing like a Casey Hampton clone. |

Redskins Sign Donovan
Donovan Raiola that is, a C/G. :)

That should solidify the O line.

Clever, but not really fooling anyone since McNabb is inked in Minny. I'm going to merge with the Redskins FA thread....

Absolutely. A guy who's played in one career game that is the 89th player on a 90 man roster. Championship. |

Not quite Dominic but I guess it gives us some depth, though most likely moreso just for the summer I suppose
