Thats a little harsh lol he bullied a wimpy teammate. Hes a fb player. U need a skitzo in the lockerroom imo. I had a couple on my team and we were national champs. If we got him dirt cheap hed b a good pickup. Dont misinterperate this though im not lobbying. At the end of the day its not up to us anyway lol if we signed him id look at it differently i guess

Not harsh at all. Check his track record. He has been kicked off of or in trouble on every team he has ever been on dating back to his pee wee football days.

Yea your right. Hes not a fit here anyway and were definetly not that desperate. Not ideal though i agree. I was kinda just putting it out there.

Im all in for going after De La Puente tbh

QUESTION Chester and Bowen

Are these 2 gonna a) be cut, b)salary restructured, or c)remain on the roster at his current rate?

I think one of the first two need to happen with both and I thought this woulda happen by now. Thoughts?

Hard to imagine Bowen back with his cap figure. Chester seems safe for now at least. Depends on what other moves we make in FA and the draft. And there's potential injuries along the way to factor in. That's why there's no rush to dump players if you don't have to. Still a long way to go in the offseason.

I'm fine with Chester as a backup. Hopefully Bowen will return with a new contract.

I think Bowen comes back at a reduced rate, but isn't a roster lock. I think Chester gets cut sometime late spring/early summer

Bowens cap hit may less after June 1st also, they can spread it out a little more. I think they are definately negotiating him down, his cap hit this year is 7mill.

No way, Forbath is good and young, plus they cut Bironas because he was so expensive for a kicker, over $3 million a year and getting old.

I want Bowen to stay. If at a lower rate then fine. But I want us to as many fresh, capable, D-lineman as possible so that Haz can rotate them like he likes to do.

Chester can go bye bye IF we sign a guard

there is no way they can afford to pay Bowen $7 million for a part time player

offer Bowen a new smaller contract,or cut him. If they cut him, they would create $2 million in cap space, however there would be $5 million of dead cap space too

Having Bowen back would be great at a reduced price. He's more than capable and having him in rotation would keep him fresh, and add some flexibility to what we can run on defense.

It seems our problem is always depth. We have a decent team if you're playing madden where players don't get tired or injured. But thy do, and you need capable players to step in for a period of time here and there.

Having a defensive line rotation with Bowen, Cofeild, Jenkins, Baker, Hatcher, Gaethers, Neild, Worthington and occasionally Rak and Kerrigan on the ends sounds pretty solid. Plus anybody else we might sign/draft could contribute as well.

I doubt they keep 8 D Lineman

Lotus 03-20-2014 06:32 PM

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread

We don't need 8. We just need 6, if all 6 are good enough to play often. If we have enough depth to swap lines like a hockey team, we'll be fine.

Bowen is Hatcher's best friend, and I am sure they lured him here with that (to a degree; not to say the $$ didn't hold sway). I suspect it was with a view toward negotiating a lower number with Bowen so that he could also stay, which makes great sense to me.

I get what you're saying. I think it would be a shame for Hatcher to come here only to see his best friend cut.

On the other hand, pro football is a business and Bowen has underachieved based on the value of his contract. Unfortunately, he has been a non-factor in rushing the passer. So now, if he wants to be on the team with his best friend, it's up to him take a pay cut.

Sentimental reasons aside, I don't know why several posters have said they want him back. He's been no better than average since he's been with the Redskins.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread

Do Kenny Britt and his agent have a plan? If so, it seems to be to visit as many teams as necessary until they find a GM who is stupid enough to sign him to anything other than a one-year "prove-it" deal.

When Britt visited here, I thought we might sign him. I thought that Britt and his agent might see the value of signing here to his career aspirations, if he has any. After all, we need a big, fast WR across from Garcon and Britt would be playing with RGIII if he were to come here.

Don't get me wrong; I have no opinion about whether or not we should sign him or even if Bruce wants him on the team. I'm just sayin'...

Britt was on thin ice last year and still played like crap. He strikes me as a confused, entitled individual who thinks a big contract should just be handed to him.

Fair number of visits this week but few signings. Sounds like we're really trying to let the market settle? I wish we'd pull the trigger on de la Puente, guess he didn't like our offer?

They didn't tender him a new contract, so he's unrestricted. Hasn't signed anywhere

I know our WR Corp is not a strength and is, generally, pretty average.

Then I think of 2011's top three wideouts:
Jabar Gaffney
Santana
Donte Stallworth

Given its mediocrity, it's sad to think how phenomenally better our current group is than the 2011 group.

The greatest mistake in Redskins history was getting rid of Gaffney, who is way better than Garcon. :cheeky:
