Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
The game plan was obvious, get the ball out quick. 5-7 step drops all day against Watt is suicide.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
The run game did very well today.
I'm disappointed we didnt run more and force the safeties up to the line. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Always blaming the line on RG3 shortcomings is getting tiresome. Word's out on RG3's Achilles heel, you bring heat and he is to fold like a fcking pillow. Teams will bring heat and teams will be setting him up to throw INTs on those short passes.
I have seen enough qb play to know a dud when I see one. RG3 is destined to be an average at best in the NFL and the Skins cant afford someone drafted that high to be average. RG3 will suck for long time to come folks. |

I was actually surprised to learn that last year the Texans were actually near the bottom the league in sacks. I guess before (and sorta with) Clowney it's been Watt....and some other guys. |

The one thing I was surprised was how easy is was to run vs that D-line. It is like they only know pass rush. Even on play action, bootlegs Reed was ignoring the runner and going for Rg3. I bet a screen pass would have went a mile. At least it would have made them slow their pass rush. If the Skins just ran more, held onto the ball it could have been a win. |

You cannot discount the damn right side of our line. It is probably the worst in the league. I am going to see if he figures things out. I have not jumped ship on him - though i am concerned. One bright spot today was his slide. It was textbook. Lol. |

Well, when the Texans offense was playing well and Wade Phillips took over the defense, they were very good. Last year's offense was that horrible, that the defense couldn't do anything. |

He's already about 3 years behind Kirk due to the system he playing in college, and Shanahan didn't help matters much. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
Let's give RGIII the benefit of the doubt, he barely played enough during the pre-season to jell with his new WR's. He is learning a new system and how to play in the pocket, he didn't play in a pro style offense in college like Luck. Last year he was rushed from major injury. just saying, let's give him a chance and a few games before turning against him.
I do confess I am concerned with his progress. Several young QBs have progressed much faster than Griffin and for what was paid for him expectations are high enough to be worried. New systems, new players are part of the NFL, if he has trouble adjusting to change he might have trouble being a Redskin. |

Let's look at Andrew Luck tonight, they are playing an awesome Denver D, his OL is in shambles and tonight doesn't look good. Sound familiar? |

I would say Wilson, Luck, Dalton, Kaepernick |

Wilson has nothing to do but hand the ball over to Marshawn Lynch and stand behind a great offensive line. Otherwise I agree with you in terms of Luck, Dalton, and Kaep. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
to our OC: you got 2 Lamborghinis in the garage and didn't drive any of them!?
BTW Tyler Polumbus is better off on the practice squad. OPEN IT UP!! |

3/4 of those QB's have great talent around them. Luck is the only exception but the Colts to me are a mediocre team in a terrible division. |

Here's the thing though, did the saints pay three 1st rounders + for Brees? No Brees was a 2nd round pick. The expectations are different. You don't trade up and draft a 2nd pick QB for a project QB. You are supposed to get a guy who can play in the NFL, in a NFL system. I am not advocating putting in KC. I am saying that had Skins kept the picks and went with another QB the Skins would have been better off. |

Gotcha. Wilson is probably more accurate than RG3, but I feel he's not asked to do as much as RG3. And honestly, it should be the case with RG3. |

Talking about the team. Not just receiving weapons. Most QB's would love to play behind great offensive lines like those QB's have as well. |
Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
It was game 1 of year 1 of a new coach, one that is committing to developing RG3 into more of a pocket passer. I think we may want to give it just a little more time. Gruden has preached patience since he got here. Wilson, Dalton, Luck, etc are all still growing too. And they're not coming off knee injuries and coaching drama.

I agree with that and I think you can see that they struggle when asked to do more especially in the playoffs. |

Luck is far ahead than Kaep and Wilson. But the Colts' line is still better than our line; I wish our line was at least mediocre. |

He is ahead of Kaep. Luck turns the ball over a lot still so I wouldn't put him above Wilson as far as development. |

I hear you but the losing is getting to folks. Riddle me this. How many months has it been since the Redskins have won a meaningful game? |

Well Luck has to throw the ball a lot, because he's the focus of the Colts' offense. Wilson doesn't have to throw the ball that much. Interestingly, Wilson should've had two INTs against Green Bay, but they were both dropped. |

The Redskins have not won a game since 9/3/2013! I think folks can feel a bit justifed when bitching about them. |

Meh, they're 0-1 in my mind. Last year is long gone.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
I would say the colts OL is in worst shape than the Redskins.

Re: Skins vs Texans Gameday Thread
All I wanted for my birthday today was a Redskins win over last season's worst team. Too tall an order I guess. At least Tony Romo cares about me and gave me the next best thing, a Cowboys loss.

Not many guys in the league can handle Watt. It certainly wasn't going to be Polumbus, Moses, or Winston off the street. We still had our chances and didn't get it done, simple as that. |
