Re: Redskins Offseason Thread

I agree that going to a game once in a while is fun, but regularly doing so would be a hassle. I had season tix about 10 years ago. They were somewhere between 1.5 and 2K a pop (I think - sure felt that way) and, once you buy them, its hard NOT going to games without feeling like you are wasting a ton of cash. Scalping Skins tix in the mid 00's was not exactly profitable or even a break even experience. Generally, the only games worth selling were the games I wanted to go to myself.

On top of that, since I live in Baltimore, going to a game is really an all-day Sunday thing by the time you drive, park, walk to the stadium (reverse on the way out). For a while I enjoyed it, but, now, meh - I'll just watch on my big screen. If tix are offered and it's relatively convenient time-wise, I'll go but it's just such a hassle.

As for Fed Ex, I went to RFK and Fed Ex. RFK was a rickety, broken down arena but damn it felt like home - it was loud, close and you felt part of the action. I have sat in all over FedEx and, unless you are in the lower bowl, along the sideline, and within 20 - 30 rows of the field, may as well watch on TV. There is just nothing special at all about FedEx.

Yeah, I missed out on RFK, but you're right. Aside from the club seating where the fancy restaurants and bar areas are at, there's nothing about Fed-Ex that makes me excited about going.
You would think with the invention of the high definition TV, and essentially having the best seat in the house every Sunday (your own living room or man cave), that NFL owners would be struggling to fill seats - so much so that ticket prices would naturally fall. I mean, even if I lived 5 minutes from the stadium, I'd rather watch on TV. Maybe I'm in the minority on that, I dunno? It's nearly like being there anyway with the resolution, and without having to sit out in the weather. You can cook your own hot dogs and buy your own 12 pack of beer for a third of the price you'd pay at the stadium. Sure, you're not taking part within the atmosphere of the stadium and all, but that's not a big deal to me. Install some surround sound speakers in your man cave to make it sound as if you're sitting in the stands.

Of course, having said that, I WOULD have liked to have went to a game at RFK, as I've heard that was an experience unlike any other.
Family has had season tickets to the Giants since the Polo grounds and I love the Meadowlands,i use to go to as many games as I could you could always see so much more of the game,it was great. But seriously the drunks started to ruin the game for me.Why people spend that much money on tickets and you intern get so shit face you don't know what happen and then you have ruined the experience for any child in the area. You guys know I enjoy a beer but to me it should not be allowed at sporting events.

I agree, but it's too much of a cash cow for the franchises. It ruins the experience for me. I'm all about getting a hot dog or a pretzel, but I don't need the beer. I'm plenty fine drowning my sorrows after the game is over, lol!

Story of the old Meadowlands , in 2003 I went to a Giants /Redskin game in Dec ....the Skins won, easy. It had snowed the night before heavy and since the Giants season was toast it wasn't a full house.By halftime the entire stadium was on the first level ,it was me and the ushers in the mezzanine and it was great ,Bruce Smith was Killing Kerry Collins but it had to be one of the best times I ever had at a game that they lost. I swear it was the first and only time I ever walk to my car got in and left with no traffic.

That is one thing I HATE about Fed-Ex. There's like one exit out of the stadium from what I remember, and it's impossible to get out when the game is over. On the flip side, one thing I DO like about the Panther's stadium not having a parking lot is that you can easily get out once you get back to your car. You just might have to walk several blocks back to the parking garage.

Another reason I hated that place, me and the wife sat in the parking lot for a good 45 mins before we moved, so stupid.

Look out for Matt Ioannidis to have a HUGE year with the addition of Payne, in fact I think he could very well be our best DLman.
"In Week 3 of last season, the Redskins demolished the Raiders; Matt Ioannidis played a part in that, making solid Guard Gabe Jackson have arguably the worst pass blocking performance of his career to date."

But remember - that was the game that Oakland's Oline decided to punish their qb.

Good stuff CR,

I will say I'm not as high on PR10 as some may be, I think he is a solid WR but no better than Crowder or Doc, so maybe our 3rd best WR. He has speed but he's no Desean Jackson. Guice will catch 20-30 balls this yr, CT about the same. If you think Doc or PR will have huge #'s I just don't see how. Alex is great with TE's and RB's. That won't change here.

"If Smith can replicate his 2017 season, in which he was the best deep-ball passer in the NFL, according to Pro Football Focus, the quarterback will bring a component to the Redskins offense that they have not had in years."

I disagree with this part, did they not watch KC throw one of the best deep ball % in the NFL?

Richardson has got good speed and will be a good addition. I don't think our offense under Gruden has ever been "not potent", the trouble has been converting in the Red zone. I think that is the biggest benefit of AS, the rest of our offensive production will be top 10 maybe top 5.

Sometimes writers say stupid things, with DJax and Garcon we had a legit deep ball threat, and last year KC was more likely to score a TD from the 30 then the 10. (hyperbole only I don't know the actual stats)

I believe that the Shakespeare who tweeted it originally and our oblivious running back meant that if you fall all over a girl they won’t want you basically. How naive and oblivious can you be to word it like they did at this particular moment in time.

Guice's statement is the definition of painting with a broad brush. No two people are the same. It is a big world out there....stop thinking so small. There are 7.62 billion people in the world, how many women has he met in his sometimes difficult life?
Now that Guice's life has changed and now has a good income he should travel, experience other cultures and meet better people. Get out his over generalized small way of thinking. Rise above it and stop socializing with people that upset him.
Simple.

This. He's got a point, but it's not articulated well when he starts it with "Women like..."

Also he needs to learn something about money management and women liking him for his status unless he wants to become the next broke athlete.

I always enjoyed our run game with a stud fullback leading the way, but versatility is preached a lot in today's game. They'd rather keep a backup TE (preferably a good blocker) who can work out of 2-TE sets or switch to fullback on the same play, rather than keep a true FB who catches a few td's a year.
