The new regime must get their QB. If they don’t want Sam that’s fine, pick another QB with what I expect to be around pick 6-10 first round. Move up aggressively to get their person.
Don't forget that Jay was forced to keep RG3 as well. I think the GM's priority should be to draft a QB. I think we have enough cap room and mid-to-lower picks to address other needs. What is imperative is for Harris to hire a GM. I honestly don't care when Ron and company get fired. We need a GM to take over now and get ready for the draft. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
We could be looking at a top 5 pick, as of today we'd pick 7th I believe.
With our extra draft picks we could definitely move and shake our way up higher for a QB if the new decision makers don't feel SH is the guy. QB at all cost. |

Safe to say anyone in the top 5 with this strong QB class is going to be looking to draft one. |

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Sam will be here next year. He has proven he can play and has a ton of value here and will continue to grow. The book on Howell, regardless who is here in the front office and staff, is not closed.
Look around the league, both Arizona and the Giants made recent huge financial commitments to QB and now have their replacement being mocked to them. What about Justin Fields already being moved on from next year in the draft? Sam performance has been a major plus this year. |

I like Sam, but there could definitely be a better QB in this draft, and as we all know in this league...it's ALL about your QB. Pretty much all other positions you can put a band aid on to work for a while, but not QB. |

I thought EB was fine yesterday. He ran the ball. He was giving Leno some help. Our guys just aren't good enough. |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
PLEASE NO. Great college player. But if you look at some of the better defenses he's gone up against, he's been overwhelmed. Played poorly. Plays too much off script. It's fine in the Pac 10, won't work in the NFL. Against Notre Dame he was just flat out awful. Plus he cried in mommies arms and paints his nails. Just too many warning signs. I don't think he is mentally tough enough for the NFL. |

Caleb Williams is highly regarded as the top QB in upcoming draft … his team USC lost 5 games this year .. hmmmm…
So how will he fare on a NFL team that most likely will suck ( worst teams get the higher picks..duh) … My point to Jamf is simply EVEN the top ranked sure fire number one pick can’t really do but so much without a team around them … |

However we are in a unique position. We seemingly have a decent starter at quarterback who is playing on the cheap. We also have alot of holes to fill. It isn’t that I am worried about Sam getting tossed to the curb because he isn’t the new regimes pick that bothers me. It is using a first round pick on a quarterback who may or may not be better than the one we got, when clearly there will be Oline, corners, linebackers that are certainly better than what we got. Listen if there was a quarterback coming out who I thought was an absolute can’t miss Id have to reevaluate my thought process here. But there isn’t. What is comes down to is do you want Sam Howell, and a stud LT or Sam Howell and another rookie quarterback with Jay Leno protecting whoever wins the job? |

My favorite thing about Howell is how accountable he is. Guys will love playing with him if he's closer to his good games than his bad ones.

Re: The Sam Howell Thread
C.J. Stroud is looking like a future top 5 QB. It's early. I'm happy for him and the Texans. But Stroud has no bearing on our QB situation. He was picked 2nd overall in a draft we didn't pick close to 2nd overall. So Stroud can be the best QB in the history of the NFL,but doesn't matter for us.
Not moving on with Howell because he's not Stroud is not really a good argument. 90% of the NFL won't have a QB as good as him (assuming this is who he is for his career). |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
In EB's offense it looks like the TE is the most important WR (Not necessarily the best but most important) wouldn't surprise me if they tried to get Brock Bowers to pair with Sam if he is here next year.

Bowers is a baller. I'd gladly take him. |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
Stroud is looking great … now refresh my memory on who was the number one QB taken ?? EXACTLY.. because he is either a bust or more likely stuck on a team worse than us .. it doesn’t matter where a player is drafted .. Purdy ain’t looking too shabby ! I don’t mind guys not liking a player to be honest I couldn’t stand Chase young but I didn’t beat it to death … if I was in love with CJ that much i would become a Texans fan .. and not waste my time on here bashing the Washington QB ..

The Sam Howell Thread
Howell has a better completion percentage than CJ. That isn’t gonna change after the bye. It is like 6 points higher. Yards and TD’s will be virtually identical. Everyone wants to kiss CJ’s ring because he plays for the Texans. Does everyone remember who Sam plays for? Hint …. they are just as bad a franchise with a way worse coaching staff.

Mahomes just threw an awful interception in the end zone … Josh Allen is a turnover waiting to happen …I’m giving Sam the same length rope every other QB gets 😀

Mahomes for sure. His rope is another 5+ years long. Allen's is way shorter. Although I feel terrible for when Allen lost to the Chiefs last year in the playoffs. That was an amazing football game. The absolute best overall QB play I've ever seen (combined between both QBs) in a playoff game. And Bills fans in general. I feel bad for the whole city of Buffalo. |

Allen's is definitely shorter, but he definitely has earned a longer leash than Howell, and the Bills loss wasnt last year, they lost to the Bengals last year |

You're right. I thought that sounded too recently. The regular season being in X year and the playoffs being in Y year constantly throws me off when trying to remember seasons that don't involve us being in the playoffs, so I'm always thrown off. |

🤡 Sam’s throwing to RBs, averaging 6 yards per attempt. Stroud is playing QB hitting WRs for 9 yards per attempt. Texans top 3 WRs all average more yards per game than McLaurin. 2 of them Have more yards in less games. Their TE averages more yards per reception than McL. But yeah, go on about those sick throws to Antonio Gibson! Texans already have more wins than last year. Commanders, nope. Texans are better with Stroud Commanders are worse with Hamster 🐹 |

Howell definitely did something to jamf. Perhaps we should all speculate as to what it was.
Sheesh - he’s a young QB with a handful of starts. He will make mistakes. He’s also shown himself to be tough, he’s got an arm, and he seems liked and respected (enough to be a captain). There are other positions - many - where we are in far worse shape. Not to mention coaching. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Re: The Sam Howell Thread
I swear sometimes you guys bring up Terry like he’s Art Monk… we need to stop saying “Terry this Terry that” he’s not getting separation, in fact there was a stat I saw yesterday that had him below Dotson even in that category. Terry is a really good WR but he’s not AJ Brown, C Lamb , Etc.
Howell is throwing to him btw, he has more targets this year than last year at this point. Dude just isn’t getting open Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
