I thought it was already, unofficially, put out that he's not going on the PUP list. Even if it wasn't, I don't see him on it.

When speaking of knee injures and them healing buckled is a word to avoid. Just say'n.

I still think armoring up his knee like Barry Bond's elbow might be a good idea.

Tie an anvil to his arse while you're at it, that should stop him scrambling.

Ok. Not much in the way of definitive there. But ultimately, as the article says 1 or 2 weeks of PUP at the start of training camp isn't going to make or break his season.

Not at all and if that's the "safer" route then by all means let's do it.

That way nobody can gripe about the team not having the player's best interests in mind.

www. iseewhereyouaregoingwiththis.com/obvious. html
Good point. I'm just thinking RGIII isn't going to last at this rate. 1 bad concussion and two knee injuries requiring surgery in his first full offseason.... Maybe he can avoid concussions in the future. But the knee injury can happen at any time, including running with no contact. I don't think his knee is now any more resistant to get re-injured. (Not to mention material was taken from his other knee to help repair it.)

I know his worst hits have been on the scrambles and in the pocket, not the planned runs. And his speed helps protect himself. But protecting the knee would be worth RGIII being a little slower, going down before contact a little sooner. And even as just a pocket passer, RGIII is special. I'd rather have the great passer and decent runner for several years, than super-fast RGIII for a couple.

What is the advantage of putting him on Active PUP though? Once that happens we can't PUP him later in the season, if necessary. Can't we just keep him active and not have him work out? We'll have to get to 53 eventually and I think blowing the opportunity to PUP him during the season isn't worth having an extra RB in camp for a couple weeks. Perhaps I'm missing the advantage of the Active PUP during training camp.

Giants # 13 , Cowboys #14

....and the Eagles are never far behind , should be a good year in the NFC East.

He has to start out on PUP, once he practices he can't go on it.

I liked the article except disagreeing with the statement about the defensive core remaining the same. Two new starting safeties (in all likelihood) is a pretty big change.

RGIII had knee surgery on January 9th, just 6 month ago.
This is a no brainer... he is better off rehabbing and strengthening his knee in preparation of game 1, not the preseason.
He should not play in preseason game 1 and 2.... maybe not even play in game 3.
He can still get reps in practice with his teammates (no contact) and prepare just fine for the season.
This is a smart move.

Dave Sheinin wrote a great piece about RG3 in today's Washington Post magazine. I'm going to look for a link.

Here it is
