That is super sad, and not just because he was my favorite. Too young to go.

I've never been a hardcore follower of the national sports media since DC rarely ever gets some love from them, but he was more enjoyable to watch than guys like Joe Buck, or Mike Milbury/Jeremy Roenick/Pierre McGuire, or even Colin Cowherd, whose goal in life seems to be how many outrageous statements he can make to get people to tune in. RIP Stuart Scott, and sorry for your loss SS.

49 is way too young to die. Very sad news today.

Scott was transformative of sports reporting, and by all accounts a good man and devoted father. Sad day.
again, why anoint someone and limit your options? at 7mill i'd pass on rak. it's only on the outside chance we can get him for $4-6mill that it'd be an actual option. otherwise we can look elsewhere. even without rak, i wouldn't just declare murphy as the starter. there's no upside in that, 9 months away from a real game.
Again, Trent Murphy was more productive than Rak this year. U can pay someone the vet min and get better production than rak. Look I'm not happy about it. Wish he woulda made a bigger impact.
So why would anyone hire Belichick after his time with the Browns ?

Pete Carroll after his time with the Jets or Patriots ?
Remind me again, did those situations end with highly embarrassing leaks, public tiffs with management, and disagreements with and ultimately the benching of their starting quarterback on the scale that it was here in DC?

The mess he left is reason enough he should be toxic around the league.

That's awful news. I wasn't even aware he was sick.

Unless I missed something, 2014 wasn't exactly great for the Redskins. All Shanahan has to do is point to the last 6 months here and say "See. It wasn't me. It's a shitty organization"
orakpo is still a good player, but not at $10mill/year.

see what the market offers, then decide what to do. no need to limit your options any earlier than necessary. and right now, his value has never been lower, which means you could get a potential price/performance steal... it just depends on how much other teams are willing to overlook this year in their desperate attempt to find FA pass rushers.
Totally agree.

And he'd be right. Shanahan is no idiot. If this franchise had its sh*t together with a personnel/scouting department on a level anywhere above incompetent buffoonery, and without a conniving headcase rookie QB subverting him at every turn that we didn't mortgage the future for, he'd have been successful here.

It's amazing that so many people still want to believe Shanny was Satan when it should be plain as day that this team is a dumpster fire surrounded by a minefield that *nobody* can out-maneuver.

I know that puts me at odds with about 98% of the members here. So fire away...

My problem with Shanahan is not with whether or not he was right. It is about how he went about being right.

I hope not. We do fit the profile for sure though. If we were on there, I don't even want to think about the nAme change crowd coming out of the woodwork. Mad drama, kids. Mad. Drama.
