Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Mark Schlreth said something that I was thinking as well....John Elway did not win a SB until he got a consistent running game behind him and a good defense. In Philly under Reid/McNabb they were very one dimensional. Very little to no running game. That is a lot of pressure to put on a QB when defenses can cheat to defending the pass and not worry about the run.
If Shanahan can create an effective running game behind McNabb it could be a very good situation for all Redskinsland. |

Won't be available. Osackpo is going to end his career by then. |
Thats EXACTLY my point! Only so many positions that we can fill through the draft and now, we throw away even more of those positions for an old man that is not going to do much better than a guy we already have.
And about Vinny..........................I just know it. I know he had something to do with this deal. He's back, I know he is. Because this deal has Vinny Cerato's sig on it.
Your first paragraph I can agree with, very reasonable. Your Vinny conspiracy theory is just nutty. He's gone. I may be off a little but after cutting all of those players and accelerating Haynesworth and Hall's deals we were sitting on a cap number of $179 million. McNabb's contract in the current form is another 11 million. |

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Perhaps we should consider picking up Westbrook now and trading JC for a left tackle.
I just dont think a trade for a LT if gunna happen due to depreciated value of Campbell. I really don't agree that we should trade Campbell if all we get is a 4th or 5th rounder...he'd be a great backup...why not stick with him....or if we could trade him for a franchise FS or WR...that would be cool |

That's one of the biggest potential bright spots for us. A strong running game -- assuming we can put one together -- is a component nobody has seen in conjunction with McNabb. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I think Allen and Shanahan don't believe in rebuilding. They think they can win now with this roster. You don't bring in Mike Shanahan for a rebuilding project. Allen said that he expects guys to play better and we know they'll be coached better. Oline is still a huge concern so I'm sure they have a plan for that. Let's wee what happens on draft day. I'm still hoping for Brandon Marshall!!!! McNabb to Marshall! OK I'll stop dreaming.
I dont think u are dreaming, i think its going to happen. Imagine our 3 headed RUnning attack, Cooley at TE, Santana in the slot, and marshall at the #1. Jeez, I a beginning to think we could ake a serious run for the NFC title............ |

If that is true, he is going for higher than a 4th or 5th. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I don't like the trade because its falling into the same pattern of the past. Trading draft picks for overpaid, at the end of their rope players. Donovan McNabb is 33 years old. He has a history of injuries. He only has one year on his current contract and its going to be very expensive to resign him. The Redskins still need offensive line help. I expect the Skins to select Okung at #4 but unless they can get good value for Campbell in a trade, I'm not a happy camper.
|
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Also, i doubt we make this trade and keep our WR corps as is. I think Shanny and Kyle will want a proven #1 for our new QB to throw to. I dont think they make this trade, and think malcolm kelly (gimme a break) will be suddenly the go to guy at WR. We will make a move for marshall, or maybe nab D. Thomas from GT. The guy looks like a steal.

If we get a 3rd, I'd be ok with dropping Campbell, I believe he has more value as a backup if all we get is a 4th or worse. We can get a decent LB or RB for a 3rd, but not much else in terms of short term starting potential. |

I am all for inflating the interest in JC. better picks for us. And watch us get flozell adas for our RT. the possibility of pairing hi up with Okung or Bulaga is intriguing. |

Due to our limited draft picks, I now agree with you on this |

HEY NOW!!!!!!! I never said I liked Flozell, just the prospect of him and Okung starting for us is intriguing. LOL, it may work tho, we shall see if we go that route. Plus, we arent afraid of getting division players in here to work for us apparently, but maybe the cowgirls are a little more cautious in trading in the division than the iggles |

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Yeah but who did he have before them?? not counting the one yr he had T.O McNabb only had stopgap players to throw to and still got his team to NFC Champ games. Just sayin.
Hey, he had Thrash! Okay... i don't know where that was going... Seriously, The whole point of my comment was NOT to go back 3, 4, 5 years and go , "LOOK AT McNABB!!" LAST YEAR with a BETTER TEAM and BETTER COACHES he did THE SAME AS JASON CAMPBELL! So, do you think he would've done better with OUR coach, OUR receivers, OUR offensive line, and an unfamiliar playbook!?! Who's to say that with a better Eagles O-Line, better receivers, Better plays called by a better coach, JASON CAMPBELL wouldn't have done better as an Eagle!?!? Think about it! |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
The Raiders and Bills are interested in Campbell. Hopefully we can get a 3rd for him.
We have two very good TE's. The Patriots have more picks then anyone and have a big need for a TE. Trade partners? |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
Well, somehow we need to get a starting LT and RT and ideally find a franchise WR too...all we have is #4 pick and Jason Campbell (and perhaps Andre Carter, Haynesworth, Landry...the problem with trading anyone other than Campbell is that we'd need their replacement.)

If no cap...no problem...if anyone can afford him, it's us.
Yes, we better after giving up 2 picks for a one year rental. How long of a contract? 3 years. Not too many QB's perform well in their late 30's. Yes, of course Favre and Warner, but it's a real short list. |
Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
A couple of important questions...
A) Has anyone heard when the press conference is scheduled to introduce him? B) When is the McNabb avatar popping up?!? lol |

Great coverage on NFLE. I do I go a day without 'em.

Needless to say I'm really displeased with this transaction.
More of the same if you ask me. This team can't show the discipline it takes to build a winning team. |

Re: McNabb a REDSKIN!
I love this move. To all the doubters of McNabbs ability, you need to llok long and hard at his work. There is more positives to be taken from a trade of this caliber than negatives.
With some more work done on the Oline MS and BA could turn our franchise around in a year. We as Redskins fans have not had a QB of this caliber for a very long time. Also I read a post above that indicated that this was a one year rental, do you really believe that DM5 will not finish his career here in Washington. He has at the least 4 great years left and as many as 7. There are also many fans on here who have said that MS didn't win a SB without Elway, well guess what guys. We've got our guy now. I would trade 2 draft picks to become relivent in the NFL again in a heartbeat. |
