Let's get away from the season a little bit and then let's gather some information as to what the rest of the league is looking like, who's being hired, who's being fired. ... It's hard to make decisions now because there are so many dominoes to fall between now and then to influence it."- Kirk Cousins
Kirk is good as gone. You don't say shit like this if you really want to be here. Why would anything else in the league (especially coaching changes) have to do with a single fucking thing on your contract negotiation if you REALLY wanted to be here. You guys keep ignoring the flags and the subtle things he says. The majority of the time when he was asked if he wanted to be here, his response was "I want to be where I'm wanted". That in itself says a lot. It wasn't a "Yes, but I also want to be compensated as such", it was a non-answer that was a yes or no answer. He wasn't going to ever say anything other than "yes" at that fan event thing because I'm sure he does respect the fans and appreciates it. I think too much has gone on between Dan, Bruce and Kirk for the relationship to continue on. That article I posted a couple months back about what his father said was telling too, even though many of you called it a "nothingburger." Fact is, his dad said that he wasn't going to sign ANY contract for ANY amount when they tagged him. That right there tells you it's not about being compensated or guaranteed money. So if they came to him with a 85 million guaranteed money he would have still rejected it? Then that says he doesn't want to be here regardless. Even asked Smootsmack earlier today if he thought Cousins was going to be here. "No reason for him to stay" was the answer. I'm going all in that we're looking for another QB come off-season. (unless the Skins tag him again) |

That was funny. Here's the thing... Kirk Cousins has no intentions of staying with the Redskins. The team needs to get what they can out of this and move on. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Well if we want Alex Smith (I hope not) but if we do then we'll have to trade for him, apparently they aren't just letting him walk.

I agree with you and have said the same thing, Kirk is a nice guy that doesn't want to upset people, of course he's gonna say all the right things in front of fans lol. He's not coming back and he knows it. It sucks for us fans but we all need to start realizing a new QB will be here next season, probably a rookie starter. They should have asked Kirk about Bruce Allen to see how he really feels.
The rest of that team is ready to win now, it's easy to see why Denver wants him. Elway doesn't wanna wait another 2-3 years for Lynch to grow. Unfortunately we're not in the same position, even if we bring Kirk back there's still plenty of room for improvement elsewhere, which is why this is a dilemma in the first place. I agree with everyone else, no way we want Kirk at 30 mil per, and I'm not sure I see him settling for less. He walks.
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Here is another thing that Snyder fucked up big time with this whole fiasco. He ultimately has fucked his stadium deal too. Ain't nobody going to pay big dollar for seat licenses and tickets for a shit or mediocre team, and one without a franchise QB. Not happening.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Jacksonville isn't going to pay Cousins north of 25 million. Ain't happening. Bortles has been pretty solid. They're already in the 2nd round w/out him.
What I got from that the thing w/ 106.7 is he wants free agency. He wants to test the market obviously. He wasn't beating on the table saying he wanted to be a Redskin and wanted to retire here. |

Local news today claimed Gruden said something that pretty much means Kirk is gone. Of course that was at 6 pm and they said they would have the story on their 11 pm edition, could be useless crap to bait people to watch. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
A lot of bad QB play this weekend. We have a top 10 QB and we don’t want to sign him.

Went to family dinner tonight and this was brought up. Qb play is lacking across the league...Cousins plays trails only Brees this weekend. Give him a real running game and we could be in the playoffs next year. We must sign cousins and we must draft a RB and add an interior Olineman. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Yeah as really think that Cousins will bolt if the dumb owner does not pay him up. And would not blame him. Yeah as really it depends on if they pay him. Need to get a great RB.

It's not a "we don't want to sign him", it's a he doesn't want a long term deal here. Period. Dan and Bruce dicked around 3 years in a row and now his free agency is going to be on his terms and doubtful here. |

Just don't see them paying what he wants. They'll be other options in free agency that will be cheaper if they decide to replace Bortles. Kind of ready to move on from Cousins. If he doesn't want to be a Redskin and play here then so be it. He's not an elite QB yet he's being portrayed as one. It's been three years in a row where he's basically played like dog shit in the last game or games of the year. Sure go to Denver or Arizona and play behind those POS o-lines. I think the Redskins will trans tag him and see what happens.... |

If I was Jacksonville I would be interested in KC, especially if Bortles gets bombed by the Steelers next weekend. KC would have a great WR corp to work with and would have a year like he did in 2016 statistically, if not better. Blake had a good year in 2017, but still is a very inconsistent QB, even more inconsistent than KC. Buffalo will be a suitor for KC. Hell at least a dozen teams could be in the mix for him. I say just draft one or two of these QBs in the draft. Any money saved can bolster the D and give the new QB a real WR or two. |

Yeah I think everyone forgets Kirk denied a deal last yr reportedly worth $20 plus million. That shows you he really didn't want a LTD from BA, more of a F YOU to his face. |

He turned down a lowball offer, how does that mean he doesn’t want a LTD? You guys really need to slow your roll lol |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I liked the interview answer where Kirk said he wanted the franchise this last season to see how the offense played without McVay and he feels comfortable with the way things are. I don't think that was a smoke screen but a legit answer.
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I think he's the first QB to focus solely on the guaranteed money of a deal vs the guarantees that come with a one-year franchise tag. That's all he wants, guarantees.
He doesn't want to turn control over to a team for five years if he's only going to be guaranteed two. At that point he might as well just play on the franchise tag. It's an excellent point. If the Skins offer 3+ years of guarantees in a 5 year deal, then he'd likely be interested. If another team offers that, then he'd likely be interested in them, assuming they're a good situation in which he thinks he can succeed. I don't think he wants the highest salary, but he does want very high guarantees. |

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I like how everyone has it figured out as to what he wants
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Just talk to other teams that may be interested in a trade for Kirk. He doesn't want to be here or he would want to get the deal done so the redskins could focus on other team needs/draft. He is not worth anywhere near what it will take to sign him. All you have to do is send a blitz and he will take a sack or throw an interception. There may be a team out there that would want to trade for him because if he gets to the open market the price could be so high that they couldn't sign him because of lack of cap space. Just a thought, not sure though. Got to try to get something for him.
|
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Cousins and Redskins are messing up my mock drafting. Have to do 2 drafts now. 1 each with and without a QB selection.
Fire Bruce Allen resign Cousins and make 95% of your fans happy. Seems simple to me but this is the Skins. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I've narrowed what Cousins wants down to 3 things: he wants out no matter what, he is 50/50 and will stay if the money is right, he's wanted to stay the whole time but didn't want to give up his hand in negotiations and we've just over analyzed every comment.
I like how everyone has it figured out as to what he wants
All that's clear is that he really wants to get to free agency. But that's just the means. What we don't know is the end. Does he want to get to free agency because he wants to find a better situation to play in? Or does he want to get to free agency because he really wants to be a Redskin, but wants to drive up his guarantees as much as possible? That we can't possibly know. It's obvious he wants to get to free agency, but why? We don't know. But it doesn't necessarily mean he wants to leave. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I think all we really know is he wants a LTD.
I think he’s done with this year to year drama. Where he wants it from is the multi million dollar question. |
Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
I’ll venture a guess he doesn’t even know where yet. He just wants to be able to weigh all his options and make the best decision possible.

Re: Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Per Gruden to Dan Steinberg:
"For the most part, the great quarterbacks are in the same system year in and year out, and are developing in that system.*[Teams are]*not holding our breath every March and April, waiting for the guy. But if that's the case, that's the case. But we like Kirk and his development. He's played well at times, without a doubt, proven that he's a good starting NFL quarterback." Every time he complinents Cousins there is always a qualifier in there. Its so weird. "At Times". Why throw that in there? Its just an observation and this isn't the first time its happened. I'm the 5% that actually wouldn't mind seeing Cousins walk, so I'm not bothered by it. Just interesting to me as I don't see the benefit to it. |
Cousins Saga 4.0. Is he done in DC?
Yeah just saying it’s pointless to try to read into everything. I’m sure Gruden would rather have him back than to start over with someone else. He just wants it settled either way like we all do.
You think only 5% would be ok with him walking?? It’s much higher than that. |
