Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
This is fantastic to me. The 2nd next year will be awesome. Make it happen.
Agreed. Very happy if this is true. We could totally transform this franchise in the 20 and 21 drafts. Also, Trent is gone. His stint in Cleveland will be interesting if this goes through.

Cleveland has amazing sports fans. I hope the Browns are good. I don't think Trent handled this situation very well at all. But he's one of my favorite players ever and we were 3-13 last year. Even if you give him an amazing 2 win swing, we're still 5-11. So he didn't really cost us anything and we moved on from Gruden and Smithers to a much better 1/2 combo with Rivera/Smith. |
@BurgundyBlog The following is a fringy, unconfirmed rumor, so take it FWIW. I'm told by a new source with a convincing connection to the #Browns that a trade for Trent Williams is "done," with #Redskins expected to receive a 3rd or 4th in 2020 and a 2nd in 2021.
Nobody has this anywhere |

So much for the story about us getting a first round pick for Trent ...

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
A lot of tackles for Cleveland to take. Not good for a potential deal for Trent unless they choose someone else. We shall see soon.

Seems like the Vikings are still interested in trading for Williams

I may be in the minority here, but I'm fine letting Trent sit on his ass for the upcoming season. He can't win the PR battle because this is a new regime and not the mess that we had last year. Again, I think teams are lowballing the Redskins. |

The NFL prints $$$ so I'm not too worried about what TW wants. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Let him sit out again or come back and play. I'm not giving him away either.

Agree. I went from feeling bad for this dude to he is the cancer. Just let the fawker sit, way to ruin a legacy TW; asshole. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I think if Trent still had 2 years left on his deal this would be done already. But having only 1 year left after coming off throwing away a year for a hissy fit, probably makes teams hesitant. I would be.
|
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I get letting him sit. But how does it help the Redskins? If teams are only offering a 5th, then fine because we can get that next year. But if we get a decent offer that allows us to bring in talent that can and will actually play this year, do it. I know teams probably are lowballing because TW has played his role in the worst possible way, so not only do teams know he won't be content playing for the Skins, but they also have to worry if he will be an issue when he gets there.
Ultimately, I want Rivera to have a clean slate to lead this team away from the morass of the past and TW right now is dead weight along for the ride. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Ron is huge on value clearly, he isn't letting a potential HOF Left Tackle walk for nothing

If a trade doesn’t happen is he going to play? He seems pretty dug in... |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
If we don't get value today for Trent I try to mend fences and if they are able to do that then I would offer him a two year deal. We need a lot of positions and need more picks. I know that this may not be the popular thing for some people, but I would see what I could get for Kerrigan. His cap hit for his production don't match up. I know he is a fan favorite. but we need more picks.

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I'm not offering him shit, come back and play the last year of your contract and leave next year, or sit out again.

Amen to that. Sit out and don’t accrue the year, and your career ends without you getting paid for the last few years of your contact. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
If a trade doesn’t happen is he going to play? He seems pretty dug in...
Not for the Redskins... they could keep him on the roster and wait for a team to become desperate and trade for him. I think the Redskins are as dug in as Trent and are not going to give him away for a late pick. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
I assume we are wanting to do whats best for the skins. Well if we can't trade him for value then you have a couple options. Could make amends and sign him or make him play on his last year of his contract. If you say i'm not giving him anything and he can come in a play for his last year. There will be locker room problems. If they don't make amends then he could come in and pretend to get hurt and sit the rest of the year and you pay him and get no reward. Who wins that, Trent. I would prefer to trade him for value as well, but not giving him away. If you don't get value and trade him on the cheap then Trent wins again.
|
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
If Trent sits out for 2 years, I wonder what his value in the NFL would be. Certainly not what he will have lost these by not playing these 2 years.
Like others have said, his agent sold him a bill of goods, and now they can't get it back. |
Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
You can believe this or not, but the Redskins do not feel they have to move him today or this weekend.

But the horrible manager of the team is gone, along with all the people that worked for this team that created this mess, so this is a completely separate situation. I believe fans need to stop making a big deal about having Trent sitting out for the season again. This is not Ron Rivera's mess, this is now Trent's mess because he started to act like a diva towards the new regime. Pittsburgh was fine with having LeVeon Bell sit out for a season, and I think we'll be too if people don't make such a big deal about it. |

Re: Trent Williams ends season-long holdout, rejoins Redskins
Ian rapport said we had a trade with the Vikings done, but Trent made it be known he didn’t want to go to the Vikings.
Let that sink in. Trent wants out of Washington. He could have been reunited with Kirk cousins and been on a super bowl contending team, but he kiboshed the deal. I’m guessing the Vikings weren’t offering him the contract he wanted. With each passing day, Trent Williams is proving to be a piece of shit. |

At this point, I say stop looking for a trade partner. He either comes back to play out his contract, or he sits another year. Fuck him.
