Robinson at 16?
They have been approaching FA with the aim of being able to pick BPA in the draft, so who knows. If Robinson is as good as some say it would be difficult to argue that he isn't the BPA available at 16, though if he slips that far there may be plenty of teams wanting to trade up. |

Robinson at 16?
Absolutely not. BUT I got no problem if EB sees someone in the draft outside of the first round he wants. My best guess at 16 is CB, Tackle or TE in that order |

My best guess at 16 is CB, Tackle or TE in that order
Gotta go oline or cb in the first. If one of the big tackles is there take em. Id even go with Torrence in the second if he is there. Than take the best corner in the third. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
The good thing is, there are enough areas that need attention, so there should be someone on the board at 16 who can come in and contribute immediately at a position of need.
My preference is to take the best O-lineman or CB at 16. However, if Michael Mayer (TE) is there I wouldn't be opposed to taking him. That is assuming EB thinks the TE group needs attention, which I'm not sure he does. We have some promising young TEs, and LT could come back strong... A starting T and a starting CB can both likely be had on day 2, which would make drafting a TE in the 1st round - not the end of the world. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
unless you think the RB is the next LT/AP or someone like Reggie Bush (the best WR in his class), mid-first on an RB is probably not going to be considered a good pick 10 years down the road. All the DPI stuff over the years has really lowered their value.

I agree. Besides the money factor, LJ is a modern style QB and Ron is a dinosaur working to implementing an 80s style run first offense. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
The nonsense about being a run heavy offense was classic Ron speak. It sounded good to him in the moment but hiring EB showed what direction he actually wants to head in.

As someone else said "this is a copycat league", if you're going to copy the #1 team in the league who better to run your O then one of the architects of that team? The Giants were run heavy with SB but that was out of necessity not by choice. |

This is Ron's fourth year as HC and now he's finally getting around to copycatting what modern offenses do, maybe you can teach an old dinosaur new tricks. |

Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I want the offense to work well, if that means we pound the fucking rock, then pound that shit. But with E.B. I imagine we will be a lot more explosive. Can't wait to watch our WR crew eat. I think Gibson should be nasty in this offense too.

I hope it works well too and do think EB will help drag Ron into the modern era. Hopefully Howell will be the QB that makes the offense explode and allows the WRs to eat but I'm not holding my breath that a 5th rounder can do that. I'm certain Brissett cant. |

Howell is ready. He should have entered the draft after his junior year. But it worked great for us. |

Over the last several years KC is like 7th or higher pass percentage play balance on offense. With a top 3 qb in the league though. Expect more passing for sure |
Ron the coach has to hype Howell because Ron the GM's bad QB decisions give him no other choice. Not sure how one game shows Howell is ready but I hope he is. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
Howell is QB1 for sure and It's the right decision. Worst comes to worst he sucks and Brisett takes over week 4 and we get a QB in 2024

This. It's kinda head-scratching to see some of the fans struggling to understand the position we are in. Our QB options are limited at this moment, and Howell is the best option for us.
That's not what Ron said yesterday.
He wants Howell to earn the spot, which is appropriate approach. |

He has to say that though... I mean Brisett could be the guy if he out plays SH in practice of course |

He wants Howell to earn the spot, which is appropriate approach.
Agree its another classic example of Ron speak. One day Howell is QB1 the next day he in a QB competition. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
He was QB only, until we signed Brissett.
He has said that Howell will get first crack at winning the job. |
Re: Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
I imagine Brissett would have to win the competition going away to start Week 1. If it's like 55/45, Howell will very likely start.

Yep... |
Commanders 2023 Off-Season Thread
If the season started today and there was no camp or preseason Howell would be the starter. They like what they saw in him during practice and his one game. QB-1 and starter are not the same though. Mainly because starters are not named until all the offseason stuff is over. If Brissett beats him out in camp and preseason he will be the starter. I have nothing good to say about Ron as a HC, but in this case I don’t think he is being misleading or Coach speaking. If the season started tomorrow Sam or QB -1 would start.

I think Ron's constant coach speak comes from Ron being both coach and GM. Ron the coach has to talk about roster competitions and winning now, Ron the GM has to talk about roster building. That creates mixed messages. That's one of many reasons why I'm not a fan of one person being both HC and GM. |

I wish some in the media would understand this. I love JP and his crew, but they get way too hung up on this. Like dude let it go, stop trying to nitpick every coach speak thing said by Ron. |

Without the nitpicking they don't have a show so I get why they do it, but yea it gets old after awhile. My take on Ron is that Ron the human being is neither a good coach or GM. I'm sure once the new owner cuts him loose he will find another job doing one or the other. |

They call it coach speak, because that's how coaches talk - in general. He's not alone. They all do it at all levels. Speaking to the media is an obligation, but they are not obliged to give specific or even truthful answers. You get mixed messages and 'spinned' (spun) messages from coaches and GMs all the time. Ron's no different. |

You at the Dallas Cowboys themed bar? If so, that's pretty awesome. But I'd get something in a bottle and not on tap if you want to avoid a little extra something. |

Nah, it was just a normal bar right next to my gate. That airport is huge. It's like a city in itself. |
