I agree his plan sounds like their plan. Maybe he was joking. We all know Obama has been on this from day one because he and everyone in his administration is now saying so every chance they get. Here is an example of a reporter asking Obama a question. Reporter: Obama will you provide any emergency relief to the fishermen. Obam: I'm glad you asked that questions because we have been here sense day one. Reporter: But what about the releif. Obama: The American people can be relieved to know we have been here from day one. Next question. |
Re: Guard watches coast for oil slick's first wave
Ok, I didn't get SS84's sarcasm, sorry. But again, I think the spare BOP was on loan to China, and they put it on a boat back to the gulf. Unfortunately it was not allowed through the canal, since we don't control it any more, so it is currently on the slow boat from China at the bottom of the earth.

I wasn't trying to be sarcastic. What i was trying to say is that all of those steps should have been completed ASAP. Each attempt has been like 2 weeks apart. They could have tried all these options in like 2 weeks. 5 weeks is way too long to all of a sudden get a sense of urgency. They should have tried fixing it much, much sooner. |
Re: Guard watches coast for oil slick's first wave
Man I have said it before, we as a human race do not have the technology to stop this. Prayer is needed. Everybody complaining they want the president to come down to the gulf and hold their hands. No one is dying. They weren't calling the president when the profits were rolling in. They made the choice. As always, a corporation choose profits (your little divine stock market) over the beauty god created in the gulf. Corporation and free market thinkers alike believe in profits first, the rest be damned. This time we bit it for their profit. It's sad!!!

From here on out BP's name has been changed to USP. Limited government has failed us. We now want socialism and we want the governemnt to take over. Your little limited governemnt utopia is bogus. They want limited government as long as they are making profit. When something bad happens they want socialism. Hypocrisy hypocrisy I say!!! The conservative gulf coast is calling for Obama to pull a Chavez on BP smdh. |

Don't worry because Obama has been there sense day one. |

According to BP and Obama, they aren't doing this sequentially, but in parallel. as an option is ready to try they try it. so if your sequence was serious, then despite your good intentions, your outcome would be just like BP's. Look at it another way: your engine develops a problem, there are 4 kind of possible ways to temporarily fix it, and one known permanent solution (order a new engine). You don't know that any of the 4 will work but the engine will take a month, so day 1 you order what you need for all 4 solutions. Your best guess you order FEDEX priority overnight, the next 2 you order UPS next day, and the final one Snail mail. As soon as you get the FEDEX, you try the repair it fails, so you have to wait. Later on, UPS shows up with one package, the other from California was delayed, but you try the second repair, it fails. Now you have to wait again for the parts for the 3rd way. You try it, it fails. Now you have to wait 3 days for the 4th solution. Maybe you could have done something differently, but most likely you did the best possible options given the availability of the required parts. |

We are the conservatives that want no government intervention in anything as long we make a profit. |

Funny this oil spill happened while a liberal was in office that gave the OK to start drilling without proper permits. Don't blame conservatives. |

Not blaming them, I am shocked at how quick they change their philosophy, drill baby drill bump the environment. Actually they were howling about socialism to protect this BP oil giant. If Obama had've went anywhere near regulating BP they wouldve started the socialism talk. Want it both ways FD? |

Want it both ways FD?
No conservative I heard mentioned anything about socialism or "howled" when MMS was found to be negligent in carrying out their responsibilities and having inappropriate relationships with the oil companies. No reasonable conservative would've said a damn thing if the Obama Administration had simply complied with the permit and enforcement practices and regulations in place. Had they done that this problem may have been averted.
Huge difference between necessary regulation (safety of oil wells/rigs) and unnecessary regulation (crap & trade). Expanding drilling should not be a problem if proper safety practices are kept by the oil industry and enforced properly by the government. The U.S. Gov't receives a percentage of the oil revenue from these operations, and as such has the right and responsibility to enforce safety regulation. Your all-saving federal government dropped the ball in a big way here too. And as you mentioned, they don't have the solution to stop the problem either so what good would it do to federalize BP. You think Hugo, Fidel and the Chinese give a damn about the environment, this could just as easily happened off the coast of Venezula or the Florida strait. Never asked for it to go both ways. The only thing I ever asked was for Obama to provide as much help as we could to help protect our shores from this oil spill. If we have people with the back grounds to help come up with a way to stop this oil leak then get them on the job. I also think the goverment should bill BP for every penny we spend fixing or helping to fix this spill. I'm not looking for the goverment to take over BP but to protect their citizens like they said when they took office. I was a person who said drill baby drill but I did not know at the time that our goverment and BP was allowed to throw safty out. I was sitting on the beach this weekend thinkng about what if this was our beach getting hit. I still want drilling but we need to clean this up and find a plan b and C when we have a problem. This thing should have been over within 24 hrs of its explosion. |

Meanwhile, in Utopia World we expand drilling and we keep a beautiful coast. In reality it's just another trade off. Life is about trade offs in Capitalism. What's more important that damn oil, or the Gulf. Different people will have different answers regardless of what their religious affiliation or political , it's that simple . You want the oil? Things like this will happen. We know ain't nobody turning any money down. Let us pray for the environment. Forgive us oh lord for not being good stewards of the blessing you bestowed upon the now almost defunct Native Amercians. Please forgive us for our greed and insolence. |
