No one can argue with you there Matty, the Ravens "D" is their salvation and you can't help but like the way they play it.

The Jets have a problem at QB and I would suspect that we're going to see Brunell in there at some point. Also Cromartie was a little suspect at corner for the Jets but Ryan really doesn't seem to care about protecting his corners. I think he blitzed on almost every play.

Still the Jets offense was absolutely pathetic. Rex Ryan and company are nuts if they think that attempting 5 yard passes is going to help them win in the playoffs, let alone make the playoffs. Sanchez 3.5 YPA wouldn't have been so bad had they attempted a couple of deep throws.

What I want to know is why the hell would you not try to go deep against a team thats playing their second string corners and is currently without the best safety in the league. If the Ravens defense has a week spot it's that secondary. Sure you have to survive their pass rush, but again the deepest pass I saw attempted was an 11 yard curl to Cotchery. That is simply unacceptable for any team, let alone a team with Super Bowl aspirations.

They might try to spin it as they weren't trying to take risk so they could stay in the game, but the ironic thing is that playing low risk football sometimes ends up being a risk in and of itself.

Agreed. Although Wilson may turn out to be a good one, he's not there yet, and Cromartie is a bit suspect. I think the Jets D will be quite good but still struggle more than they did last year.

Except that there secondary is their weak link. There were many plays where Sanchez had time to throw but didn't get the ball out or threw a check down. It really looked like he was afraid to throw deep.

And their final drive - horrible. They got the ball at their own 30'ish w/ 1:37 to go. plenty of time to get into field goal range (and then some). They took 37 seconds to go 10 yards AND called their final time out. Sanchez showed [I]no[/I] urgency in lining them up or hustling downfield. He certainly wasn't trying to throw it downfield.

Unless he speeds his game up [I]a lot[/I] and takes some shots downfield, he is the next USC QB washout. He looked very much like a 2nd or 3rd stringer to me.

Ryan recognizes the fact his team has some problems and I'm convinced that's the main reason behind his verbal facade. He needs to stop talking and putting unnecessary pressure on his team to perform up to his tirades.

UPDATE: On Tuesday, Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston.com gave his take on a possibility for Logan Mankins being traded (see below). There's been little buzz thus far on potential trade destinations for Mankins, however that could be an effect of the massive contract that he's likely to require from his next team.

Mankins and the New England Patriots were on the verge of a new long-term contract, according to a report from ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, but a certain request from the team irked the guard, and everything fell apart.

Mankins was asked to apologize to team owner Robert Kraft for comments he made insinuating that Kraft was disingenuous, a request he complied with. But when the team asked him to issue a public apology, he scoffed at the notion, and has re-issued his demand for a trade.

As Schefter writes, the trade will be a difficult one. Although Mankins is one of the NFL's top interior linemen, the compensating team must be willing to dole out a huge deal, plus satisfy the Pats' demands.

on the last play of the ravens jets game, 4th down, dustin keller caught a ball near the sideline then stepped out of bounds without making sure he crossed the 1st down marker. game over.

does anyone think this lapse in thinking was caused by the vicious hit ray laid on him a few plays earlier?

after a hit like that, particularly with runningbacks, i am always amazed that the coaching staff doesnt recognize that their player just got rung up and atleast pull him out for one play. this past sunday i saw a runningback get cleaned out, he was slow to get up, looked dazed atleast to me, he looks over to the sideline with puppy dog pull me out eyes, coach leaves him in, and calls another running play which ended up being a good 5 yard gain to my surprise.

just unreal to me sometimes when coaches dont seem to know or care if a player just got their head rung.

I think it was just momentum, but he made no effort to stop it.

Definitely a bonehead move. Sanchez should also have let him get downfield too.

Ok people, I unfortunatly saw this over at ES, but I thought it would interest some of you..... apparently people can vote for how they think their HC is doing as a rating. Skins are in the 88% range and cough cough Dallas is at 13%. You can vote for other coaches as well positively or negatively. ;) Have fun with the ESPN poll.

yeah i wasnt sure. his momentum was def carrying him out of bounds but i got the impression (from his lack of trying to get the extra yard) that his head was still rattled.

with this pinpoint slo-mo camera shots, you really see the damage, heads snapping back from hits now a days. if a player is slow to get up b/c he got his bell rung, take the man out for atleast one freakin play.

Shanny is about where he should be. His gameplan was solid...execution, not so much (on offense).
