Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Did Frost play at all? I think Brooks kicked all the punts.

Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Good game. Well coached. Congrats to coach Zorn and the skins.
I AM SO GLAD TO BE WATCHING SKINS FOOTBALL AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
On that last play...36...I think thats Sweigart had poor tackling technique...he's lucky they didn't score a TD on him....overall...not impressed with Sweigard..at best hes a 4th safety...horton may be better....even as a rookie...I am shocked at how well horton played his first NFL game ever.
Sweigard may get cut if hes so damn vanilla |
Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
doughty looked a bit rough early...
running game was great, campbell and brennan were on fire... davis looked good, horton looked great. zorn's looking pretty good, and even for the preseason, those QBs and that offense might be the big improvement we needed (big lack of penatlies/flags was nice too). defense was missing starters but they gave up an awful lot of yards tonight. as a whole, it was a really good preseason game and actually worth watching. |

Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Game over, my thoughts:
Art Monk: What an amazing person he is! Who's is number 48?? We need to make him Skin forever.. awesome play out there tonight. Mason – Trade Betts and keep this dude! JC - I was happy.. good times. Keep it up. Collins - bad times.. :( Colt Brennen - OMG!! Love this kid. Can we make him our second QB please??? Doughty - :(... not so good dude! Pick it up! Overall.. I was so very proud to be a Skins’ fan this weekend. I mean WOW! What a great weekend for the Skins! |
Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Dissappointments: Justin Tryon, Stuart Schweigert, Stephon Heyer, Justin Geisinger, Shaun Suisham, Reed Doughty, Danny Verdun, Matt Sinclair, Vernon Fox, Coverage Teams, Todd Collins.
Impressive: Jim Zorn, Starting O-line, Jason Campbell, Colt Brennan, Todd Yoder, Fred Davis, Jason Goode, Marcus Mason, Rock Cartwright, Chris Horton, Chad Rinehart, Rob Jackson, Alfred Fincher, Maurice Mann, Matteral Richardson, Leigh Torrence, Durant Brooks. |
Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
oh yeah, mason looked good too, and our return game was terrible... i don't think we'll be seeing any new return men this year (besides thomas, maybe). rob jackson can earn a roster spot if he keeps it up too.
for indy, i liked sorgi, quinn, and hart (who i thought was a GREAT value in the draft) |

Rob Jackson had 1 sack and otherwise was average at best...Rhinehart blew some coverages...but they are both rookies in their first game. Mann and Richardson and Fincher...I wouldn't say they were that great. But you pretty much nailed most of these...I like your breakdown |

I agree with the rest though. |
Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Agreed. Doughty was fine...Sorgi picked on him...but he wasn't terrible or anything like that. Just haters that want John Lynch. LOL.
Dallas Clark and Robinson were eating Doughty alive out there. He had that one nice hit, but he was in position for the hit because he was late getting over to the play, he also totally whiffed trying to tackle Dallas Clark. |

Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Fantastic outing for the Skins!!!
QB's looked very crisp. Impressive showing by some rookies: Horton best of all, but Davis I thought looked good too. Very few penalties and excellent organization, which indicates good coaching. My only concerns (things that could be issues beyond preseason IMO) are: 1) Jansen still looks slow - gave up a sack just in the short time he was on the field. Personally I think this is a huge concern. Film from last year shows he was constantly a step behind and getting beat and obviously after the terrible injury he's probably more arthritic. Which leads to 2nd concern... 2) Depth at o-line still seems to be a huge issue. Fabini should just become a full-time truck driver, football ain't his gig. Wade is too injury prone and mostly ineffective. Heyer still gets manhandled by veteran d-ends and it looks like he's still covered in baby-fat. Chad looks like the only legitimate backup right now IMO - fortunately he can play guard or tackle - I guarantee he plays quite a bit this year. |

You're right about Heyer he did settle in in the second half albeit against lesser competition. I thought Richardson had some good coverage plus the pick six. Mann had some nice catches, and Fincher had some nice plays on special teams and he did well at MLB, pretty impressive for just getting picked up a few days ago. |
Re: Hall of Fame Game Thread....
Not really concerned about Doughty yet. He will need to be effective against the run and slant routes when dirty 30 hits the field. Doughty lays the wood when he gets the chance and I think his angles and vision will improve through preseason.
Not to mention Clark is one of the best in the game. |
