Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
I think the Carr deal means Kirk's going to have to be at or near that number, which hurts us as I was hoping to keep him in the 23-25 aav range.
I think this should give the Redskins comfort in giving Cousins the money he deserves. Before this Carr deal they had to feel like they were stepping out on a bit of a limb, giving Cousins so much would have made them feel like they were above the market for him.
But this shows that the market is going to keep increasing for quality QBs, as long as there are so few quality QBs in the NFL. If I'm the Redskins brass today I'm feeling more comfortable. Yeah Kirk will be expensive, but other QBs are going to get paid too. They're not going to find themselves at a cap disadvantage compared to other teams - other QBs are going to get theirs too.
I agree with this. I think the Skins didn't want to step out with a crazy number and open themselves up to criticism. If Carr gets this type deal, I believe the Skins will be willing to get to that same level. Carr and KC are pretty much around the same level. |

The Carr deal is done.

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Matthew Staffords camp was waiting on the Carr deal to get done too. Whatever Carr gets, Stafford is expected to get more. KC might wait to see what Stafford gets......this is not over

Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Kirk isn't going to get more than Carr, but a very comparable contract is very likely. If anything this Carr deal helps pave the way for Kirk's deal.

Stafford's deal should definitely exceed Carr's, but Kirk isn't going to get more than Stafford, no way. |
The skins will have to pony more than $25m/year, that's the rumor around here. Cousins has better numbers than Carr if I'm not mistaken. This is not good.
actually no . . . carr had like 6 more TD passes and 10 less interceptions than Cousins . . . and is 6 years younger than cousins . . . Carr is a FAR FAR FAR better prospect than Cousins. |

Agreed. Not what I meant. Was just wondering if KC would look for something in between the Carr and Stafford deals.... |

I don't think Kirk deserves more than Carr, I'd say something just below his deal. |

Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
If the Redskins don't get a deal done now then it will never happen. They should offer KC the same contract that Carr got. It ain't that damn difficult.

to be honest, they really already screwed this up by the god aweful lowball offer. Now if they don't get a deal it would a fuckin disaster and Bruce should go. That's my line in the sand. Bruce goes if we don't get a deal done. And to be honest, our salary cap is in pretty good shape, even though I do worry a lil bit about all the one year deals we are on for this upcoming season. |

Since Snyder has been the majority owner of the Redskins, when did he not close a deal that he wanted to close? This is all Snyder. If he wants to get a deal done with Cousins, it gets done. He gave low character ass Fat Albert 40 million and didn't blink doing it. |
Re: Cousins 3.0, he's going to sign the franchise tag
Deadline is July 17th and not the 15th. 2 more possible days of torture.
I doubt Cousins accepts a penny less than what Carr got. Carr is better and younger but it won't matter. Cousins has all the leverage. |

Carr has also already had a major injury in his young career. I think you went three fars too far in comparing the two. Also, at the money we're talking about here, these two QB's had better not be prospects. They need to be stars. |
