Re: The Gameday Thread: Philly at Washington
I really hope we've seen the last of Grossman. He's not a 16 game starter. I like him as a back up but that's it. Too bad it took this game for the Shamahans to realize it. Should've benched him after last week.
Not sure about anyone else but I've had enough of the shitty calls. WTF was that roughing the passer bullshit on Vick? It's every damn week the refs call that shit and it's just getting old. They do it on both sides. Let em play! |
Hopefully. If Grossman is cut ill throw a party, my house and the entire warpath is invited. grab a flight Glasgow
Mate, if they punt Rex, never mind the flight, I'll be happy to swim across!! |

If Rex starts next week, I will be on the Shanahans need to go bandwagon..

A playoff appearance would be nicer. A solid one, not a, "we made it in by the skin of our teeth and know we shouldn't be here" kind of appearance. Ideally, I'd just like to see a solid team. Of course teams have days where they're just off. But with the Skins its either a good offensive team and a bad defensive team, a good defensive team and a bad offensive team, or just an all around bad team. I have a bad memory to begin with, but I don't know when the last year was where the Skins had a fully rounded team where we were actually good, but just didn't have the gas to make it to the playoffs/not lose in the 1st round of the playoffs (or wildcard) |

You better gas up the bandwagon cause Rex will start. Rex stunk, and so did the O line. If the O line doesnt get better it wont matter who the QB is. I thought the D played pretty good. |

Got nicked in the first, but stonewalled them in the second. Get a QB.......who knows. AND if we had a QB which we no doubt will add in the off-season (starting or no), this game would have been radically different. You'll be happy by your 25th Birthday! |
Only Achilles heel to our team is Grossman and our Dbs if they are put man on man. Eliminate those things and we are a better football team. A football team that probably would be undefeated.
The comment was that there was no reason with the amount of talent we have on the team that we shouldn't be a wildcard team, the response was, yeah, if we had a real QB, that is probably true...I agree with that...what I don't agree with is that this is a good team with Beck or Grossman...we have been talking about this all offseason, we're we a great 3-1 team?...no...are we a great 3-2 team?...probably not. Here's the truth, we beat bad teams and lose to good ones, we sometimes beat ourselves...that is NOT a playoff team, especially one with the most critical position being manned by a question mark. It's not as bad as Spurrier's Danny Wuerful man-crush, but it is eerily similar. 2 arrogant offensive minded coaches thinking they can take a QB that no one else wants and turn them into stars. This game reveals too much Shanny influence over the FO, not getting a good QB. It also reflects the FO not addressing Oline depth as much as we all shouted for...no backup Guard?....reallly? Those were the 2 big questions I had with the squad going into the season. I am glad Grossman was pulled, but I don't expect much better from Beck. I do think that the coaches need to get austin and the other WR's out there too. |

This guy's offense barely squeaks by lousy teams like the Cards and Rams and today even with two weeks to prepare for a reeling division rival, they look totally clueless out there. Grossman is Grossman, he's a bad QB who occasionally gets lucky and has a good game. The great Shanahan chose to run his offense with that clown. Now he's getting what he paid for. |

This years draft was the best draft this team has had in a long, long, long time. We went primarily defense this year. We'll go primarily offense next year. The point is keep improving and I think we did that this year. Will we be good enough to make the playoffs, that remains to be seen. But this team is better - the Defense is MUCH better. |

When we did try, we sucked. The O-line did not look good today. But we did not try very hard. The second half was skewed by late passes but in the first half we passed 70% of the time. |
Re: The Gameday Thread: Philly at Washington
...Beck certainly didnt look bad out there...give the kid an opportunity
Yes he did look bad. He had several inaccurate throws to open receivers. And he fumbled without getting hit. |

There were a ton of holds the refs didnt call either.

Man our QB situation sucks. Now i have to change my starting QB in madden again.. It sucks not having a franchise QB...

Kyle happened. Plus we were down so early, had to let Rex throw some more piss poor interceptions like hes done his entire career. |

I guess that's better then making several inaccurate throws to the other team? |

If you are still in Grossmans corner after that game then you are a complete idiot!!! |
I guess that's better then making several inaccurate throws to the other team?
Yes it is. I wasn't being pro-Grossman in my comments. The fact is that we don't have a real starting QB on the roster. |
Re: The Gameday Thread: Philly at Washington
I guess that's better then making several inaccurate throws to the other team?
Neither situation is good for the team. As some people say, it is stupid to judge Beck (good or bad) on this game. I still think MS should've pulled Rex and started Beck at the half. |
Re: The Gameday Thread: Philly at Washington
Yes he did look bad. He had several inaccurate throws to open receivers. And he fumbled without getting hit.
Beck didn't have a chance to practice with 1st group as much Rexy did. Beck made all good reads but made bad throws, which can be fixed with practice. |

But this team is better - the Defense is MUCH better.
I completely agree with your assessment...but I still think this is a 7-9 team with the current "talent" that some believe is some sort of playoff team or a division winner. I don't mean to be a downer...because this "team" is FAR superior to last years in many categories, Oline, Dline, LB, Free safety, Special Teams, WR, RB....which is basically every position except one...the QB. And as the QB goes, the team goes...the Skins have not had a strong QB since Rypien, and a young Trent Green who never really started for us. Our teams need dominating defenses because we cant seem to secure a talented QB...well at least they "tried" wth McNabb...but the cupboard is still bare and we will hover around average until we secure someone with SERIOUS non Becklike Upside. Just don't get all your hopes dashed again this year, YES we are rebuilding and have been for the last 2 years...we rebuild the first 2 years EVERY TIME we change coaches. I love the Skins, they are tougher, and younger and better, but that will likely not translate to bonus games because we are SOOOO Good for another year or two. Just enjoy the wins when they come....at least well get one every other week rather than once a month...and that is a very good thing! |

You need to slow your role. Beck didn't look too great. Had some good throws and some really bad ones. The fumble was ridiculous and has nothing to do with a lack of reps. He hit the ball with his non-throwing hand while attempting a throw. Comical. All that being said, he is our best option if Grossman continues to turn the ball over. |

But the comment was made that Beck didn't look bad and that was untrue.
sure he looked rusty and im sure there were some nerves...BUT he was much better than Rex. 1) Love the way Becks stands tall in the pocket goes through his reads 2) OMG Beck ran for a first down...havent seen that all season from a POS named Rex. Plus the QB draw for the TD, sorry Rex cant make that play. 3) Effing Gaffney dropped a TD pass from Beck. Not to be outdone, Stallworthless dropped a effing bomb that would put us in or close to the redzone. 4) Beck moved the ball under pressure much better than Rex Beck did miss on some throws that shoulda been complete, but damn Beck played much better than Rex. It happens to all thinkers who are ahead of their times. :) But, yeah, I didn't say a word about the greatness of Grossman or McNabb but people were quick to put those words in my mouth. |

Anyway, if you think Rex should still be the starting QB after the last three games then i have to question your Football IQ. He is obviously not comfortable in this offense and his immobility is a complete hindrance to the offense. Beck at times was inaccurate but he did score the only TD today and he was able to move the ball. |
