I know I'm one of the few but I would sign DJ if we could. With Pierre and Jordan and Desean and a healthy Rg our offense could be unreal. It would be a risk but I think I would like to see that.

The only position I disrespect more that WR is RB. The Pats, Giants, Ravens, Seahawks and pretty much every team to win the Super Bowl the last 10-15 years have proven you don't need high-priced, upper echelon WRs to win it all. But hey, let's keep doing the opposite of the best teams and hope for the best. It's bound to work eventually.

I would have rather paid a safety the money Desean would want.

I do not think there is any interest per nfl tweeter. Kiem, Russel, and a couple others have heard of no interest, but there is a good article in which Rak talks about our approach to FA.

All those teams had at least one Pierre Garçon.

At the right price, I'd take D.Jax in a heartbeat. With him and Garcon out there, who would you cover? Plus he'd be a ridiculous upgrade in the return game. As someone said, I wish he'd give us a vendetta discount. In reality, I'm sure he could end up with Carolina, where he'd automatically be the #1 wideout.

DeSean Jackson is from Long Beach, CA and I'm sure he has some friends that have gang affiliation. D-Jax is a 1 trick pony who just runs deep routes or the WR screen pass. Yes he is a big play threat, but I believe Aldrick Robinson can do some of those same things at a much cheaper cost. Jackson has shown in the past that he can be a problem if he is not getting the ball thrown his way. I say no to signing him because he is a punk and needs to grow up.

I have very little to no faith in Robinson becoming the type of player Jackson is. Jackson could open up the field for Reed and give more space for Morris. Plus he's a serious threat in the return game. I don't care if he's a diva, so was Gary Clark.

Robinson isn't or will ever be like Jackson. Wishful thinking though.

I can paint you a picture like Picasso for a much cheaper cost. I can also cook you a dinner like Bobby Flay for way cheaper.

Lol Robinson to Jackson? ... Absolutely NO comparison there, sadly.
While he is a punk, and a clown and I hate all sheagles.. The kid can ball... Simply too much $ for us though...

Maybe we should have picked him before taking both Malcolm Kelly AND Devin Thomas while he was still on the board that year..

skinsfaninok 03-29-2014 10:46 AM

Yeah there is no comparison between the 2 players.

My point was i can cook a meal for cheaper than Bobby Flay because im no Bobby Flay. Lol. Robinson comes cheaper than Jackson because he is no Jackson. I dont want to sign Jackson for several reasons, but to compare Robinson to him on a football field is like comparing me to Bobby Flay in a kitchen. I do make fantastic chicken wings though.

Per Ian Rapoport's latest Tweet, the Redskins are showing interest in DeSean Jackson.
Here's the exact quote: "Two wildcard teams interested in DeSean Jackson: Redskins and Bills. Can see both fits. Toss those in with Chiefs, Raiders and the rest".

I wouldn't mind seeing us make the move for Jackson. He's a playmaker!!... which we do not have enough of on this team.

CRedskinsRule 03-29-2014 12:56 PM

With a decent salary structure I would take him, but I am pretty sure there is bad blood between him and Hall, and maybe Santana(?) The Skins would need to make sure that locker room issues would not happen.

Bingo. In his prime too. These players don't become available often. Sproles is a similar type, but he is well over 30. Desean has the ability to score from anywhere on the field. My best guess is chiefs, jets, and us are most likely best options. Jets in NYC with Vick already there and they have cap room. Chiefs with Reid. Skins have the room and give him an option to play them twice. Nobody wants to play in buffalo, raiders are a mess, pats with Hernandez incident plus they are cheap, Cleveland is a mess with no qb, and I don't think the 49ers have the room with the kap extension being worked on.

Bruce, get this done!

I want him or Britt, need another WR.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread

Jackson's highly unlikely to come here for a number of reasons but for the sake of discussion, I'd be fully in support of him signing here.

He is what we've been needing for nearly a decade if not longer, a true threat at the WR position that teams have to game plan for. Garcon is a helluva receiver underneath and with the ball in his hands but we've never seen him catch a vertical route. Nobody else on our WR corp is more than 'just a guy' or worse. Adding Jackson to Garcon and Reed gives us a tremendous array of passing options.

As for the off the field stuff, yeah it's a concern but I don't worry about our locker room with stuff like this. For better or worse, Shanahan brought in a ton of character guys via the draft and even free agency who were captains of their college teams or leaders on other teams. We don't have the mercenary locker room culture that existed from 2000-2010 anymore. Jackson would find his space and fit in.

He's probably going to be a Chief or a Raider and we will trot out mediocre receivers once again.

skinsfaninok 03-29-2014 02:26 PM

No doubt we need another playmaker

Pretty sure the bad blood was between him and Landry since pre-game of the Monday night disaster Landry pointed to his head as Jackson was just returning from a bad concussion.

As long as it doesn't kill us cap wise, BA needs to get this done. I don't believe there is a receiver we could draft in the 2nd round that would help us like him is there??

i'd file this under don't get your hopes up. he wants a lot of money, which we're a bit short on now, and the iggles released him in his prime, which should give you pause. outside of dawkins, there aren't a lot of cases of ex-iggles having good post-philly success.

he definitely has talent and is worth looking at, but i just don't see it happening.

I don't care get him or don't get him, but I have a feeling if we gave away next year's 2nd round pick to get him some people would be OK with it then.

I wonder if this humbling experience of getting fired on national news and talk of his attitude and possible gang issues might change him for the better a la Chris Carter? You have to think he is reflecting hard on this embarrassing experience, one that he created.
Before making a contract offer though I would be 100% sure in what if anything substantial the Eagles found outside of football that might of made them cut him. Or was it just a locker room issue?
Could he be a suspect in a serious crime like Hernandez?

We will see.

He'd would have to give p his #10 jersey... yea he won't be coming here.. he's the type to say know JUST cause of that... or if he did, maybe it's a step in the right direction maturity wise lol

CRedskinsRule 03-29-2014 04:07 PM

Cut Hankerson and Polumbus -save 3.3 mill in cap space draft best RT prospect and sign Jackson for 5yr 50mill 24mill guaranteed (about 7.5 mill cap hit). I admit I am feeling like Hankerson brings nothing to the table and the offense with RGIII, Garcon, Djax, Roberts, Morris would have scary potential with a solid RT in the draft.

And DJax knows how to him some punts against the NfC East!

Mechanix544 03-29-2014 04:28 PM

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread

I think Hankerson turns in his best year yet this season. I say no to DJax, too many potential issues for that hefty price tag. We already have a number one, why splurge on a 1a if we need help with RT and safety?

Maybe at the skill positions. Certainly not the o-line, and with no o-line all of them suffer. Now back to your regularly scheduled program.

At this point any OL help you bring in other than with our first pick is of negligible upgrade value. If RT is going to be addressed it would be best to do it between pick number 29 and 38. Since I doubt we trade up maybe we trade down a few spots and gain a late pick but basically pick 34 needs to be an RT to improve the line any. That would mean finding safeties among camp cuts or bringing in Clark and seeing what our young guys do.
