Why would you want Romo? He would be nothing more than a stop gap and you would lose a first round pick. If this deal goes down we need the #2 pick to get the QB of our choice. If this deal goes down and we don't get any multiple picks and Romo goes down, Snyder will be toast. Folks are really getting tired of the constant drama, the dumb moves, etc. If all of this goes down and 2017 is the end of Gruden and co, Skins fans in DC need to do what Lions fans did here about 10 years ago and either don't show up or come in and wear those paper bags on their heads. That woke up the Fords to start trying to really build a winner. Have to hurt them in the pocketbook. Too many cool things to do in and around DC to justify putting up with that garbage. Damn Maryland had a good recruiting season, they will be making a bit of a comeback, and of course there is VA Tech. This is really getting old!!!!
You want romo for 2 reasons.

A. When healthy and with our weapons and OL, he would light up the NFL and make us a damn good offense.

B. Get a young gut under his wings for 2 years or even 1 year and let him coach the youngster up (like he did dak)

Basically he's the best QB available, who else can we get?? Do you guys really want Colt starting and going 5-11?
I agree, but trade him to a really needy team and garner multiple picks for him. This three way thing sounds stupid.
It probably won't happen, is Jerry really going to let his golden boy leave? I'll believe it when I see it. As for kirk? He's done in DC, I'd be willing to bet that he's going to SF soon.

Rather get the rook up and running. Multiple picks is my thing, and the only thing in my mind that would make this type of trade worthwhile. Romo isn't going to last more than 6 games. If he can't last with that o line in Dallas, he isn't going to last with ours. I can see us wanting to dump Kirk if he truly wants out, but we better get something in return, and that means multiple picks for the Skins and not the Boys.

We better get multiple picks from San Fran then. That is my main thing. Supply and demand and he is the hottest FA commodity on the market. Multiple picks to get a QB, bolster the D, and/or maybe get a shiny new WR.

He is the best 2 hand touch QB available, tackle football is a problem at his age.
He is also a cowboy! F... that shit.

The only way I could possibly accept this deal would be if we get the #2 pick, Romo, and another pick or two from Dallas, SF gets Kirk, and Dallas gets the #17 pick.

Really, a REVERSE home team discount?

I think that's the first time I've heard about a player wanting a premium to stay with a team. Would that be unusual, or am I just ignorant about how stuff works in NFL personnel matters.

Bradford trade, Ohilly received a 1 & 3. We should get more than an old injury prone QB. Night as well sign RG III too and have three injury prone guys on the roster. Maybe the three of them could complete 16 games and win us 5 games

I worry SF won't offer much because they know kirk walks next yr. Also what rookie can we get at 17? Maybe Watson but that kid just doesn't have the accuracy right now.

It could all be fake news. We don't need Dallas to be involved at all if we were going to trade Kirk. A straight up trade for Kirk with San Fran would garner multiple picks for us, including the moving up to #2. If we trade Kirk odds are it means the end of Scott M and Gruden after 2017, unless we get to the playoffs. IF that happens I will be truly over this franchise.

Do they want to wait a year? That is the question. They still need a QB now that Kap is a FA. They need a QB now!!!!!!!!!!!!! The market is hot for Kirk. In a trade that helps the Skins, in resigning him it hurts them. The FO might not think he is worth what he wants and the only way to get something is get a trade done. It is the only way they can look like a winner in this after screwing up not signing him last year for less. I still hope this isn't the case and they are going to sign him to a long term deal. I wonder if this is just the media idiots at NFL.com trying to actually make news. It could just be a total misinformation campaign.

Why do we think Kirk is pushing to leave? Why can't this all be feeling out our options? I'm sure the team wants Kirk back. At the same time he holds a lot of leverage. It makes it tough to get it done and also keep anything possibly related out of the media due to our market size.

I agree SF needs a QB this year. Anybody going to SF will require 18 - 20 million a year. I do not think they are willing to take a mulligan on this year. They will eaither draft a QB or sign someone. Kyle maybe a boy genius but he has 3 years to show an improvement. He can't afford to waste a year and hope KC walks. What happens if Tom Brady gets hurt this year and NE needs a QB next year? Would KC go to SF over NE?

I think the Redskins have all the leverage. He signs the tag or he doesn't. If he doesn't sign, he doesn't play and he looses 24 million. If he doesn't sign a long term deal, he rids the pine on the practice squad and Colt is the starter. We draft in the top 5 next year and we have a long term QB. Nobody is going to give him a 20+ million a season long term deal after sitting the pine for a season.

From the cheap seats in Nebraska, it looks like a media driven shit storm.

The Washington Post seems to feel this is nonsense. Master T saying the Niners are not interested in trading a bunch of picks, and Mike Jones saying he is told the Skins aren't interested in Romo.

Re: Kirk Cousins 365 thread

What are the motivations for a three-way trade?

SF wants Kirk and to stay in the 1st Round.
Washington wants the #2 pick and a solid bridge QB for the next 2-3 seasons.
Dallas wants to get something for Romo.

The next steps would be:

SF gets Kirk from Washington and the #28 pick from Dallas
Washington gets the #2 pick from SF and Tony Romo from Dallas.
Dallas gets the #17 pick from Washington.

Those would be the primary pieces. There would be some other picks traded back and forth, as well, to even out the deal.

Cousins gets resigned for 5 years 115 million, we resign Garcon and Baker, we bring in Calais Campbell, we draft Zach Cunningham, Obi Melifonwu, and Rasul Douglas in the 1st 3 rounds. We beat the Cowboys twice next year and make the playoffs. We tell the media to suck it. That's my off season and regular season predictions.

Edit - for curiosities sake, I went to Fanspeak to see if I could get those guys in the 1st draft I did and I was able to.

In all honesty fellas I have to agree with a poster from the original Rappaport story off of NFL.com, and that this is just trying to help Jerry out by letting it be known some big spenders might be in the market for Romo, and maybe garner some interest in a desperation move to get something for him. Only a total idiot would go for this trade as is, especially the Skins. A deal with Kirk will be made, but it probably won't be done til after the draft and close to the deadline. The focus now is on the draft, where they will fulfill their needs for the D and maybe get a FA or two and work from there. If there is any lesson from all of this it is that we give too much credence to these media types whose job is to get clicks and not really focus on concrete journalism. Is Rappaport a Dallas fan? If so that would also explain his story.

That is exactly right. nobody in their right mind would give any thing of value for Romo. Romo will be released or agree to play for the Cowboys at a backups pay.
Old man Romo's body can not take any more violent hits that an NFL QB takes during a season. If he cannot stay healthy behind that very good Cowboy line, how do you think he will fair behind a less talented O-line on another team? A reoccurring bad back is the kiss of death in the NFL.
