The contract is already drafted. Hopefully no one leaks it. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
I’d be happy with a little Bradberry in the building. Still would like to see some veteran LB help though.
Pittman was awesome last season.
As for Wentz, he constantly threw into double and triple coverage. Late in the season he just freaked out completely and made some of the worst plays I've ever witnessed, to the point where I feel that it could be fairly said that he caused his team to lose crucial games. That and the fact that it was reported that Wentz had the same type of problems in Indy that he had in Phiily causes me to doubt that he can lead the Commanders. If Frank Reich couldn't fix him, how has he changed to give us hope that our staff can?
The thing with that narrative that Wentz "caused his team to lose crucial games" is, yes there has to be some truth to it, and yes 2 teams moving on from him is some kind of a red flag... But... watching at games I just don't see it... Busy personal life until July so I probably won't have time to watch games before that... But the 2 games I watched to far, including the infamous Jaguars game, didn't show me a guy costing his teams games. It showed me an NFL starting QB giving his team a chance, making some really hard throws, and yes making some bad mistakes when trying too hard because his defense couldn't stop my grand ma in an electric wheelchair on low battery and his Oline couldn't pick up a nanometer on 3rd/4th and short... We're not getting 2017 Wentz. But don't fall for the lazy narrative, watch the context in which 2 teams moved from him, with the Colts it really seems like a knee jerk move by the owner more than a long thought coach decision. And watch the actual games, it's not nearly as bad as it's made out to be. Even that last game, one ugly INT and a couple of high throws, but other than that a very decent game. |

Listening to Galdi's breakdown of Rivera talking about our rookies, I was particularly intrigued by 7th round G Chris Paul, seems like he can play anywhere on the line and is quite big, hopefully Matsko can develop him into a nice Oline swiss army knife.
Ron also sounded incredibly confident that 4th round S Percy Turner will play at least 33% of defensive snaps as the 3rd safety/nickel. I'm not as worried as some of you are about our DB room, but it would sure be nice if he could take some of McCain's snaps over the course of the season... |

I'd be shocked if it wasn't us that signed him. I bet he gets a 1 year deal from us. |

I don't want him in the NFC East but I like the guy , he is worth the money. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
wentz and howell are way better than what we had last year.
I would rather have stafford, but we made a fair offer and he said he didn't want to be here, just like wilson etc. Wentz is the guy we could get, and he's on a 1 year deal with 2 years of team options essentially. Trust me, if rodgers suddenly wanted to play here, we'd figure it out. This was a 2022 move that could work out and turn into more, or become a 1 year rental. I don't care what Ron said, the contract hasn't been extended, so there's no downside to seeing how the season turns out and re-considering afterwards. |

I love that RR pushe for him to go to commencement. Like the priority over a meaningless mini camp.

Giants have officially dumped Bradbury -- I wonder whether we will try to sign him. I suspect he won't last long on the open market, and we can use some help in that position.

I agree. He is a difference maker. What none of us knows is whether or not he had a good relationship with RR when they were together in Charlotte. |

@RGIII · May 13 Washington Commanders have SURPRISE SUPER BOWL CONTENDER written all over them. -Wentz has to be in 2017 form -D-Line has to play to its potential BIG “if’s” but this is the best roster Washington has had in at least 10 years. Let’s Fucking Go! |

I tend to think Wentz will rebound and play very good !! He won’t be the first QB to make a comeback !

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
RG3 is just trying to get back into good graces here, for whatever reason. Just a short time ago he was ready to spill the beans and write a tell all book. Now we're SB contenders? RG3 is such a tool. He is so damn phony. I hate fake people like him.
Everyone always talks about our d-line. Can someone tell me what is so good about them? Just cause you're drafted in the first round doesn't mean you are an elite d-line. How many times did we see these guys get run over or unable to get to the passer? Or rush out of their lanes? Ron called it being "immature." This is the most overrated group in the NFL. Average, middle of the road d-line. |

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
I don't think it's that hot of a take from RG3, if enough things break our way I think the ceiling of this team could be high. SB high? Not sure about that, but making some noise in the playoffs maybe? Yeah I could see that.

We’re very pleased with the number of guys we have here, but we don’t have another veteran-type guy once we get past Khaleke [Hudson], so right now, we’re just too deep. We’d like to get a few more guys to be a bit deeper there.” I don't see how they would be ok with not being able to line up a base 4-3 defense (I know, lot of nickel, but we still play some base defense), and being one injury away from one your starting LBs being Brian Ketchup... Ron can't publicly say they're paper thin at LB, and maybe he doesn't think they are as thin as I think they are, otherwise he would've acted earlier on this. But I still got hope they are aware they can't start the season like that. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Any free agent worth signing is playing chicken right now with potential teams. They're in no rush to sign before training camp.
|
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Shit - Bradberry to the Eagles. That’s the last team I wAnted to see sign him. Shit.

Efe Obada 6’6” 265 plays big and physical, athletic DE. He looks promising as a back up to provide depth. Born in Nigeria and raised in the Netherlands and United Kingdom, he was the first international player to go straight from a European league to the NFL.

Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
So many media people talk about these guys like they're the front 4 of the Steelers. Have they actually seen these guys play? We had way better d-lines here during Gibbs 1. Even Gibbs 2. All this talk about breaking Manley and Mann's sack record. blah blah. Manley would have made the HOF had he not had his off the field issues.
They need to stop living off draft pick status and start to take over games when the games are on the line. Until then it's just a bunch of hot air. I knew they were just an average group when they were dominated by Tampa in the playoffs. They flat out didn't show up and they were easily dominated, pushed around all game long. Chase was dominated. Tampa ran for like 150 yards and they rolled up over 500. You rarely see 500+ yards of offense in the NFL. That game rolled right over into the next season.. Terrible of 3rd downs... And Del Rio? Not impressed at all. |
Re: 2022 Commanders off season thread part 1
Yep, they were less than impressive in that playoff game - and when they played an actual starting QB for that matter. They have potential as a unit, but that potential hasn't been realized as of yet. Still holding out hope that they can bring it all together this year. I think the continuity in the secondary and being healthy up front will go a long way towards realizing that potential.

They gotta add a linebacker who can contribute on the field and we need depth as well. |

It wouldn't be the worst thing, but I am still holding out hope that they are able to bring in a guy like AJ Johnson.
