I second that for the reasons you mention elsewhere.

Changing the subject from necessary and enjoyable critiques of the Giants, Pashos signed with the Browns:
Source: Tony Pashos strikes three-year, $10.3 million deal with Browns - NFL - Yahoo! Sports

Losing Pashos for $3.5m a year is the first Shanahanian move that I don't like.

Im not sold on this front office, they are doing piss poor job of fixing an offensive line. I dont see many FA OT left. Unless they plan to go OT 2 of the 5 draft picks, were going into the next year in the same position as 2009....And even if they do, youre hoping 2 rookies come in and start right away......Reaks of a slow rebuilding process

Piss poor, really? Slow down, we haven't gotten to draft day yet.

You have to figure Casey Rabach, D.Dockery, and maybe Levi Jones will be three of your five starters. Keep in mind we signed Levi Jones late October, but now we'll have him for a full training camp. So I expect him to be in better shape and, quite frankly, a better offensive tackle. The other two spots will probably go to a drafted rookie (hopefully a really good one), Chad Rinehart and/or Artis Hicks, and maybe another FA between now and the start of the season.

All I'm saying is it's still very early and we can't grab every Tom, Dick, and Harry FA out there just because they're available.

I think one has to face the inevitable. Teams go through cycles. The Skins cycle was in the 80's, Dallas was in the 90's, Eagles tried to claim the 2000 but failed. As it turned out it was the Giants. So the Giants had a nice 10yr run and they are on the decline. Dallas stumbled and came back last year but I still wouldn't consider them the power house yet. The Eagles had a nice few yrs leading up to their SB year but I feel they have been on the decline due to the cycle. Players being picked up by other teams and Reids refusing to believe McNabb is washed up.

I'm not saying all this to start with the whole ....the Skins will be in the SB next year or anything. I see us as finally having realized what we were doing was not working after 20 long years and finally see us in rebuild mode. Maybe in 3-5 yrs we will be in the SB but not until we get younger, quicker, and healthier.

OMG.

#1- How do you know there is not a plan?
#2- How do you know they are not executing the plan?
#3- Why do we fans always believe we should be in the know on the plans?

If we knew the plans so would all the other teams and they would game plan around that. Possibly screwing us in the process.

Then there's the fact that I keep calling it rebuild mode. Yeah I know Allen said he didn't like the word or something but by avoiding the term people get the false sense of security plus with his "we are not that bad of a team" speach people are right back in the "we are just one player or 3 away from being contenders" mode. Your upset that they didn't come out ball to the walls signing people. I'm dissapointed also but seeing that we didn't just throw money away to try to solve a problem with an aged vet makes be happy. Now ask me how we are going to fill the position? I have no Fing clue. :) But you can't tell me we hired two inept front office/HCing people who don't know what they are doing and they wouldn't be doing it with out a plan.

I'm really nervous about the holes we have on the team right now. There's not a lot of quality UFAs and the team cannot afford to lose draft picks. Tendering Rodgers and McIntosh could bring interest.

Re: Mega-Merge: 2010 Free Agency Rumors and Reports Thread

It's going to have to be a slow rebuilding process because this team needs lots of pieces. As we have seen, just going out and picking 3 or 4 people who are the best of just one free agent year is not the way to build prolonged success.

Many of the free agents who were out there were around the 30 years old. So they can play at a high level for another 3-4 years? The skins do just need to take it slow and draft some lineman and pick and choose where in free agency to do something.

Even if they went out and got every offensive lineman available, our center is still suspect, our RG is suspect, our QB is a question mark, we don't have much at RB or FB, we have unproven WR with a declining Moss, and for defense a poor secondary.

It's going to take a while guys.

Any RB would be crazy not to want to be in Shanahan's scheme since they have produced 1000+ yards runners every year. It would go a long way to prove to people your not as bad as everyone thinks you are.

More like it overstates the RB's ability and understates the OL's contribution...until the RB goes elsewhere.
Portis and Terrell Davis were exceptions, but they were also exceptional statistically in the system as well.

The reality is that the new FO had nothing to do with setting the FA market and the cuts made to the current roster were right on point with needs to be filled throughout the draft.

Piss poor? Come on now. A fundamental change that is needed in the FO is the squandering of cash for guys that don't earn their keep with huge contracts. I doubt AH would have been signed by Allen for $100 million. So far the the guy's stay here is mixed at the very best. With our relatively quiet FA period thus far, you can already see the change coming. How can some teams be perennial winners being tens of millions under the cap? Smart business and great scouting revolving around a good business plan. And your bitching about a slow rebuilding process? Allen and co are trying to reverse a decade old spending binge and ad hoc business model that produced substandard results. It is like trying to clean up a heroine addict. Not going to happen overnight.

I agree. 2-3 seasons in my book, and that is if our present WR corp develops, a big if in my opinion. Moss is on the decline. I would consider using him as possible trade bait. Highly unlikely someone will take him though.

Yeah. Pashos' deal wasn't eye-popping. I'd like to hear some confidence that Jones or Heyer will be a major contributer next season. Drafting 2 stud OTs in the same draft is a miracle and we need LBs?

I think they're considering moving their current LT, Jeff Backus to left guard. Stafford was killed last year as well. They passed on Oher and drafted Brandon Pettigrew, which is something that makes you go "huh?".

If Bradfored and Okung are both gone, a trade down is the best course of action...or Suh for NT.

I swear, this is exactly what I was thinking as I saw they brought in Burleson today. I know the Lions are more than a few pieces of the puzzle away from contending for the playoffs, but matthew Stafford has got to be one happy mother fucker if they bring in Okung after the pickups that they have made. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see Fargas get picked up in Detroit to compliment their current #1 RB, Kevin Smith

If Okung is gone and Suh is still available (and no trades that'll keep us in the top 10 picks) we should draft Suh. But that's wishful thinking. A QB drafted #4 overall starts as a rookie...

Riddle me this. If Okung and Bradford are gone by pick 4, I think that could be a blessing in disguise. But, I think that the 3-4 idea would have to go right out the fucking window. Imagine,

Carter Haynesworth Suh Orakpo

my god, I am starting to drool.
and i think its a foregone conclusion that Williams will be alot better this year, after an offseason of training, training camp, and learning Shannys schemes, I would not be surprised if he steps right into a starting guard slot opposite Dock. Same goes for Levi, an offseason with this new coach can only make him better.

DE: Daniels NT:Haynesworth/Suh DE:Haynesworth/Suh

I still think a trade down for two or three picks is going to happen because Tampa needs Suh to help create pressure in their cover-2 scheme. Add a 2nd rounder or something for trading away Rocky and we suddenly have a lot more draft picks.

Make fun of him all you want, none of your d-lineman can hold his jockstrap.
