Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
On a quick side note.... the Detroit game with the questionable play of the day...
The Refs say no TD cause he didn't have 2 feet down? was that the reason? I see him catch it, take 2 steps, then his hip hits the ground before the ball hits the ground and rolls out of his hand. It should have been a TD. Literally I see his right foot come down, then his left, then his left again and his hip. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Haslett needs to lay off the blitz. We had what, only one sack? Sure we rushed Romo's timing often in the first half, but the blitz lost its effectiveness as the game went on in the second half. We were one stupid mistake away from getting smoked at the end.

wouldve had more if not for the holding and it did have an effect on Romo in multiple plays, we just need more time w/ the 3-4 |

Same thing that happened in the Skins/Bucs playoff game in Tampa a few years ago where the Bucs WR lost control as he hit the ground. You have to complete the act of the catch. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
By the way...for those who don't know. Orakpo is f'ing beast. HE won that game. Barron held him because Rak treated him like a little bitch. He treated him like a bitch all day too.

I would say no cause I like the attacking defense, but showing blitz then backing out to put more people in coverage would have been nice a few times. I'm also not a fan of the 1 or 2 guys only on the defensive line. |

Johnson got the ball in bounds with both feet, but as he came down he put the ball on the ground first, then let it go. He had possesion of the ball, but he did let go of it as he pulled himself up. I do not know why these NFL assholes try and screw with the rules to be able to have more control over the outcome of the game. |

That scheme worked big time. All day they forced Romo into hot reads and tempered their offense. They broke some big plays but mostly we dictated their offense all day. That was big. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
dropped passes, dropped INTs (won't blame that one on Landry, he was already moving past the ball), not so great initial blocking and getting upfield (aka not finishing first line blocks).. on the players
red zone playcalling, personnel, timeouts could've been one, etc |

So true. The new D needs work but there is a lot to like there. |

I don't know I say catch. Yes he bobbled the ball when he first caught it, but when his first foot comes down he has it in his right hand grasping it. The ball does not move until the tip hits the ground for which it rolls away, but it the ground can't cause a fumble the it's a TD. |

Texans looked awesome today. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I am not going to bitch. This was a win. An ugly one, but man our defense came to play. I am pumped. 1-0 baby... leading the East. good way to start the season.
Once we can get this o going we can be a damn good team. |

I feel thats different cause Johnson didnt let go of the ball till he was getting up, while Williams in the playoff game clearly lost control of the ball before he hit the ground and the ground allowed him to get control of the ball, Johnson had it all the way for me. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
There is no such thing as a bad win!! Goodnight folks HTTR 1-0!!!!!!!
|
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I dont want to here any complaining about the defense. The f*ing defense once again bailed us with a win. Hall scored the only touchdown.
The offense has been a no show for the last 3 years. Outside of Moss we have no recievers and we can consistantly cannot run the ball. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Every game is different, but the Texans won't make the same sloppy mistakes the Cowboys made. Our offense, and specifically passing, has to get on track. Shanahan said in his presser, we will get it to a championship offense. I can't wait to see it, cuz this wasn't.
|
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
why does moss have on a Oakland A's hat on CSN....odd
|
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Also DT looked great on KO returns tonight, wanna see him on O before we trade for VJ, and remember we are one shank punt away from a shutout.

Hey, did anyone figure out what Heyer was in? What happened to Brown??

The ground can't cause a fumble, but it CAN cause an incompletion. Blame the rule, but you can't blame the call. The refs called it right. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
The offense is going to take a little time to gel, but I think once it does we're going to be alright.
The D still has plenty of room for improvement too. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I thought DT had some 2 great returns. would be nice to see him get in on O.
I have said it before in the thread, once #5 gets this thing down, we are going to be special. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
casey rabach was awful tonight, probably one of his worst games

well we won so be happy. i'm going to bed with a smile on my face. thank you alex barron. that's what jerry jones gets for signing the worst tackle in the NFL. lol. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Call Justin hartwig on Monday! Ha!
Where does AH fit in now? |
why does moss have on a Oakland A's hat on CSN....odd
to the urban crowd it's just a fashion thing.. the A's hat is big right now for whatever reason, maybe it was in a video.. which is the reason you see the black and red Reds cap on everyone, since Wayne wore it kind of homo imo |

We need to be able to run the ball consistantly. The first half we really got away from it after the early long drive. McNabb needs to throw the ball better to, think he was only like 50% on his attempts. I did think the line played pretty damn well, especially with protection outside of Rabauch. But the drop passes bullsh*t needs to end...Moss, Sellers, Armstrong (X3) had pretty bad drops |

I liked the blitzing, but in the second half the effectiveness lessened. At that point I think Haslett should have mixed it up with occasional blitz packages and straight up coverage. If that dumbass doesn't hold Orakpo, we lose. |

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Or Orakpo sacks Romo, or hurries him and game over.
|
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
what an amazing lucky break we got...but I'll take it. We've been unlucky long enough, time for luck to go our way for a change.
|
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Wow. What a great way to start the season. It's always such a pleasure to say, in taunting fashion, f*** the Cowboys!

Well considering we never play well in prime time on any of the evening games we played pretty good. Maybe during the day games Armstrong will catch some balls. Galloway wasn't even used it seemed but on one play. Then getting Banks involved in the bubble screens, and possibly Thomas involved more. |

Again, not sure if you guys know -- why was Heyer in there instead of our starting RT, Brown?? Didn't look like Brown was hurt..

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I don't consider it lucky that #71 choke slammed Orakpo .. if he doesn't hold like that Romo is SackPo'd

If Orakpo doesn't get held.. Romo hits the dirt... He got held for a godo 2 seconds. Ofcourse he was held all night by BOTH OT's... It was rediculous.. I can't believe it wasn't called more.. I sometimes thinks Wade has the T's to block that way because isn't it wierd that Adams and this tool both lead the league with holds and shit? Totally stupid... Orakpo should of had atleast 2 sacks tonight |
