Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I feel like people are forgetting about Kareem Moore a bit. Godspeed Kareem Moore, I seriously hope you're back in the lineup next week. We're not starting Reed Doughty because he beat out everybody else, we're starting him because we have to.
And SkinsfaninOk I noticed that too. I think it's because he has trouble shedding blocks. In the 4-3 the d-line used to handle the offensive line for the most part, it gave Fletch room to run around and make plays. But in the 3-4 you have to have linebackers that can shed blocks and then make plays, and I don't think Fletch is really cut out for that. I wouldn't be suprised if he has under 100 tackles this season. This might even be the last for him in a Skins uniform. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Hey Redskin fans hold your heads up high cause we are no laughing stocks of the NFL any more. We have a serious team that gets after it. HTTR and lets kicked the crap out of the Rams next week.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Even though we had some mistakes in the front 7, our secondary (Doughty) made some bonehead mistakes. It doesn't matter if he's the 4th string FS, if he's a on the ****ing field he should be able to make some plays and if he can't bench his ass. The main point is our depth piss poor across the board . God forbid a starter goes down w/ a season injury I have no faith in our backups.

yup 4th and 10th, hes in there, incomplete. but **** man, im drunk nt trying to be reminded of that/ while i like reed, hes almost always in position (excapt that dallas td) he is always a secind late, an inch too short. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Im not a Jason Campbell hater but it is so nice to have a legit NFL top rate QB here in Redskins Nation.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
We are not going to right years of ineptitude and poor decision making in one year, let alone two games.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
i understand some of the positive talk, but giving up a 17 point second half lead just kills that. none of this "well its better than last year" or whatever, we had it and lost it. point blank.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
A Victory next week against the Rams will help heal this wounds guys.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
We dialed back the aggressiveness in the second half on defense and it hurt us. Wondering why.
Did you see London on that sack of Schaub or him drooping in coverage he played well.
I'm not saying he plays horribly and he's a liability. He still makes plays but he's not the tackling machine he was in the 3-4. I did see him make that sack, you know, cuz I watched the game, but I'm just saying he's not an ideal fit for a 3-4 linebacker. He's effective but not dominant like he was last year, and pretty much every year since we've had him. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Predictions seem to be coming true...improved passing game because of Shany, and decline in defensive effectiveness because of an unneeded shift to a 4-3 under unhearaled DC Haslett.
The defense is no better than last year and seems to give our competition chance after chance to win games...I know it is early....but look at the stats. If we score 27 points....we should ALWAYS win. Only crappy defenses lose at home with a 17 point lead late in the game. Haslett...this loss is completely on you....fix it now |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Fletcher had 3 tackles, 4 assists, and a sack. He's going to be fine.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
I got into my car to take my daughter to her grandparents and tried to decipher between Huff and Jurgesons senile ramblings what happened when Johnson scored a touchdown on a 4th down play. How'd that happen? any insight would be appreciated.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Well it could be worse, Dallas could start 0-3 vs Houston next week, and their supposed to be the best team in the NFC
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
This is my final analysis. Because we were effective in the passing game early on, forced Houston to abandon their great running attack. This actually played to the weakness of the defense. Ideally, you want the opposing defense to have to pass giving your defense a chance to take it away or incompletions. We don't have play making safeties of the such and therefore allowed mismatches. Every big conversion was mainly against the safeties, not Hall, Rodgers, or Buchanon. I'm still scratching my head with the switch to a 3-4 but, regardless of scheme, you have to play to your personnel's strengths. Play more man or cover-3 zone.

I wonder who that is now. Certainly not the Vikings and Cowboys like everyone thought. And it's most certainly not anyone in the NFC West......are the Bears the best team in the NFC? |

Arguably the best WR in the game matched up against a Redskins safety. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Packers are probably the best team in the NFC.

No proper NFL safety screws that up. That was a thirty yard jump ball and Doughty didn't get one inch off the ground. That guy is horrible. He is that bad. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Yea Reed sucks, and we have to get 86 the ball more
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
^ packers, bears, colts, vikings, titans...If we play like we have been on defense against those teams, you can count all those as losses.
|
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
2 botched short field goals in 2 games as well. messed up hold week 1, blocked one this week. we were lucky the one last week didnt cost us, today it was a factor in us blowing the game. special teams in general have been a weak point. bidwell's punting hasnt impressed me, the punt/kick returns have been average, and the coverage teams have been average.

We can't beat STL playing D like that |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
The offensive meeting will be short in STL.
Put Reed Doughty on the chalk board.....laugh out loud and then take the afternoon off. I played football. That was a joke. We should have had Fred Smoot playing safety on that play. or Stanley Richards. |
Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
When Moore comes back our issues aren't going to be magically solved.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
lets not forget guys, we have struggled with st louis in recent years when they have been horrible. haslett beat us when he was rams interim coach not long ago, we lost late on a betts fumble another time, and we only beat them 9-7 under zorn. plus we lost to the lions to break their winless streak. what have we shown over the years consistently? we play to the level of our opponents most of the time, up or down. we must win the rams game and we must take it extremely seriously.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
Just got back to the hotel from the game.... what a freaking disaster. I have nothing to add that probably has not been said, but I knew it almost as soon as we went up 27-10.... I just knew it'd come crashing down... and of course it did. This is the stuff that I was expecting to be fixed from Shannahan. That blocked field goal is atrocious. I dont know who's fault it is, but that is the 2nd missed field goal on something like that in as many weeks. Someone needs to lose their job for it. Thats crap.
Either way, I'd rather have lost by 40 than done that... |

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
That was one of the most demoralizing losses in a long time. A game we should have won and would have won if not for that blocked field goal. Then to kick the winning field goal in overtime to see it nullified because of a timely time-out by Houston. With the Redskins, the game is never over until the clock runs out. You can never ever relax and assume you've won. I'm very impressed with McNabb and equally as unimpressed with our running game. Eighteen total yards on the ground? Wow! That's gotta change. So another Monday will roll around and I won't look forward to reading the morning Post.

Re: Redskins vs. Texans Gameday Thread
For those of you who had a weird tragic accident occur and it forced you to miss a good part of the game........ I feel bad for you.
For those of us who watched the game from start to finish with all the highs and lows, I calmed down after about an hour and am now starting to feel weirdly happy about the fact our team played well, or so it seemed to me. In the past we would have ran, ran, ran and kept trying even though it was not working. Today was different, we seemed to pass well (McNabb with over 400+ yrds passing), the run game was not too bad, we scored over 20 points, the defense did well, we got another turnover, and the pass rush seemed to be working well.... how many sacks did we get? I know it's a loss but I couldn't help but reflect and be happy and excited about this team. Maybe now NFCE, media, and whoever the hell else will take note we are a different team. No longer are we the NFCE whipping boy. I had to keep reminding myself this was one of the games I had listed as a loss when I said we might go 9-7 or 10-6. I actually expected a blow out by the Texans and for it not to have happened against another team that was a play off team last yr and is supposed to be strong and make another run at the play offs makes a statement. |

I honestly didn't realize we only had 18 total yrds on the ground (Are you sure?) I thought after half time they showed a stat and the Texans were like 60 something yrds and the Skins only had 5 yrds. then they kept showing Portis's stats and he was up to like 29 yrds after 2 runs. |
