At this point any OL help you bring in other than with our first pick is of negligible upgrade value. If RT is going to be addressed it would be best to do it between pick number 29 and 38. Since I doubt we trade up maybe we trade down a few spots and gain a late pick but basically pick 34 needs to be an RT to improve the line any. That would mean finding safeties among camp cuts or bringing in Clark and seeing what our young guys do.
Agreed. Not doubting anything you say, just stating that its a dang problem. Im completely on board with seeing what the young safeties can do btw. |

Rg3, garçon, Morris, d jax, Roberts, helu, reed, Hank, Robinson, Chris Thompson Those ballers against the defenses of giants, eagles and cowboys? Folks... And we are def adding another pass catching tight end, most likely in the draft. |

I'd be okay with a 1 yr deal for him to prove himself but I don't think we have the money for that. |

What exactly does a 3-time Pro Bowl WR who had his best season last year need to prove? The idea of a one-year "prove it" deal for D-Jax is ridiculous. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I'm tired if d jax proving it against the skins twice a year. I get it and quite frankly tired of it
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I do not believe this. I think this is one of two scenarios.
1. DJax agent is trying to add leverage to get a better deal out of the Chief or Jets. 2. Some sports reporter needs to publish something and since the weather is nice, throws out a canned article. “The Redskins show interest in (add free agents name here)” An unnamed source within the organization says the Redskins are going after (add free agent name here). Blah, Blah, blah, etc…. |

You should believe it

Garcon, Jackson, Reed. That is deadly. Especially with RGIII and Morris. |
Gruden interviewing Gruden? Any details when that might air?

I'll sell my first born for DJax.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Really, DJax should want to sign with us. God, that'd really stick it to the Eagles and their fans.

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
so what will it cost to get Jackson ? and where does the money come from ?
cut Chester, Bowen , and ? |
so what will it cost to get Jackson ? and where does the money come from ?
cut Chester, Bowen , and ?
Dan Snyder. lol I said earlier cut Hank and Polumbus. That gets half the cap space needed, + half our remaining cap space and that is enough to make any deal needed to bring him in. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
The same people who are so excited about DeSean will be the first people bitching once he becomes a cancer. I don't see why we don't draft Benjamin from FSU in the second round and call it a day. In no way, shape, or form is this a smart move. Throwing all that money that he will demand at someone who is known to be a prima donna and not a good teammate in the locker room as opposed to drafting some younger talent is asinine.

cut Chester, Bowen , and ?
If we really want someone, forget the cap, many ways we can get it done. The fact he visiting us Monday puts as a finalist for d jax. Folks is this the big move? Wonder if everyone is behind the move in the organization? |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I we get Jackson do we wear red or blue do-rags?
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
There are not many times in the nfl where a receiver of DJ's caliber comes along. When it does you need to take a chance. We could sign a receiver in the 2nd round and he is a dud or it could take 3 years for him to be any good. DJ is a major weapon that will make our offense one of the best. We need to take a chance.

And once he makes our offense number one in the league and making us a contender for years you will be saying I'm so glad we signed him. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I cant for the life of me can think of anytime in the history of any sport let alone the NFL that a player of jacksons caliber coming off their best season just flat out cut.Its not like he's old either.Yeah he was going to make a lot of money but still Ive never seen it happen.
That alone should scare the hell out of somebody signing him. Part of me wants him here, maybe he would have a chip on his shoulder and want to prove the eagles screwed up by releasing him,but then again he could turn out to be another T.O. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I can bet you anything after being cut by the coach who swore the Eagles wouldn't cut him, DJ changes his act and hits the field with something to prove. Come to DC and he gets to do that twice a year.

What did the Seahawks spend on Receivers last year? How about the Giants when they won 2 Super Bowls? Or the Pats when they won 3? Or the Ravens when they won their 2? If they spent a lot, then maybe we should as well. No need to reinvent the wheel. If not, then maybe we should stop doing the exact opposite of the teams that contend year in and year out. By the way, who were our Receivers when we were a top 10 Offense 2 years ago. I say pass. Invest in Defense and Linemen. Wide Receivers and Running Backs are borderline irrelevant. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I'm guessing they would use D. Jackson like the shegulls use Percy Harvin.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Well the Seahawks did spend 11 million and a 1st round pick on Percy Harvin last year and got one big game out of him. It just happened to be the Super Bowl not to mention Sidney Rice who got hurt but also had a big contract.

I hear ya, I feel like Vinnie C when I start saying get him. BUT he would solidify our receiving corps free up the 2nd pick for a RT, and he would give us a solid punt return threat. I don't think it will happen because I think Bruce will be the anti Vinnie, which is generally what we needed here. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I am just playing devils advocate Alvin. They had money invested there because they were able to with so many of their key players coming in relatively cheap because they drafted well.
Like I said earlier in the thread, I wish we would have spent some money at S. If we make a big play for him so be it, but I think we needed on D or up front. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
Maybe its an early April fools day.
|
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
The Ravens won with offense as well, J Jones , T Smith and A Boldin is a solid to great core that wasn't cheap.

That will not happen. When have we ever signed a big name free agent and he produced like he did with his old team? Rarely happens, if at all for us. I'm just saying, the guy is a cancer, why else would philly cut their best receiver? Let's be smart like we have been all March. |

Jones and Smith were dirt cheap. Boldin was the only high-priced WR on the roster.. We already have Garçon. |
Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
I was killed from my earlier post that Aldrick Robinson has some of the same attributes as DeSean Jackson. They both are deep threat WR's and can run after the catch. I'm not saying Robinson is as talented as DeSean but he is much cheaper and doesn't come with the baggage. I'm torn on this because the last time the Eagles gave away their star player it was McNasty. We got hosed on that deal. The Eagles not only gave away their best WR but they have a cap hit this year for 6.5 million for releasing D-Jax. They must really wanted to get rid of him. We have seen DeSean be a distraction for the Eagles over the years , but also seen him make big time plays. If the price is right sometimes you have to roll the dice and hope he grows up and becomes a real pro. Its funny if we sign him we get blasted by the Haters. Yes we have made some dumb free agent signings but DeSean is 27yrs old with tons of talent so how can you not take the risk if you need a another WR to go along with Garcon. This gives RGIII another big time playmaker and who says if we draft a WR he will be productive. I read that D.Hall wants him here so lets make it happen for the right price. HTTR

Re: Redskins Free Agents Signings Thread
dhall and RG3 .. as far as I read.... both want him here and have publicly made it known...
