Love that shirt. Heinicke reminds me of Gus Frerotte in the sense of being the overriding fan favorite.
That said, I think it's unfair to label him as a qb who lost a playoff game. The Bucs defense was legit, and Heinicke moved the team effectively. It was definitely the lack of pressure that lost the game. Add in the fact that he was only on the team 4 weeks, and I think the t-shirt is a right fair play. My birthday is in June if anyone feels the same ;)
A replacement for the Cult of Colt? |
And for a soon to be 28 Year old that has played with 3 different teams lol.. That is how sad it has gotten for WSH QBs
I think the 3 different teams is misleading as well - His teams and their starting QBs were: Minnesota Vikings - Teddy Bridgewater New England Patriots - TOM BRADY Houston Texans - Deshaun Watson Carolina Panthers - Cam Newton He was not replacing the GOAT, or Watson, and injuries kept him from the other two. |
Well it's not labeling, we lost the game. Just seems a little odd to celebrate that is all.
Fair enough, though given the fact we haven't won a playoff game since [memory failing...] his play in that game is as close to legendary as we have seen. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Just seems so Redskins of us to sell a t-shirt after a loss. I get it, he played great and was an awesome story. But come on let's win something real before slapping it on a t-shirt.

Agreed, it's definitely a WFT/Redskins thing to do. |

Well he was studying for his college exams when we called him. I'm sure he'll train harder for next season. |
Let the Heinicke fever continue!
@RapSheet The Washington Football Team has agreed to terms on a 2-year extension for QB Taylor Heinicke, sources say, worth $8.75M. There are also incentives depending on how many games he starts. Real security for their resilient QB who started and impressed in the playoff game.
That's a lot of Heineken's. |

he's already way ahead of us
@PeterHaileyNBCS How does Taylor want to grow? "Be more durable, put some more weight on." Called his injuries "alarming" Then, of course, up his consistency. Intends to work on the same things as he always has, but keep polishing them |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Our QB's are living Hallmark movies.
Alex Smith is the greatest comeback story in sports history and Heinicke was a backup in the XFL and now has a 9 million dollar NFL contract. Once Kyle Allen gets tendered, add him to the list. He is coming off of a terrible ankle injury. Looks like it will be a 3 way competition between Heinicke/Allen and a drafted rookie. The Beer Man will be our starting QB week 1. |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Not sure why anyone wouldn't like this move. We seem to not be forcing a QB move which to me is something that has been needed around here for a long time. The QB moves that have been orchestrated the past several years have been total epic failures.

I'd love to have TH Fields / Lance Smith (lower cost) |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Skip on Allen then?
I like your idea especially if we can draft one of those guys. |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I really hope Smith retires. Great story but I don't want to deal with that song and dance again. Hoping both sides move on.
|
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I would sign Fitzpatrick, draft Jones and go with Fitz, Jones and Heinecke (sp?). I would sign a No. 2 WR and a LB in free agency, draft a TE with our second pick,. 2 third round picks go to an offensive tackle and a linebacker. The rest of our picks I would use on LB, CB and S.
|
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I agree on Smith. 2020 was a great story. But time to move beyond Hallmark movies and try to build a legit Superbowl contender.
|
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I hope TH wins the camp battle and leads this team to great things. Thats my vote

Well assuming they don't go after D Watson, or trade up for Z Wilson or T Lance, I'm game for a scenario like that - signing a tier two FA and drafting a QB. I don't like Mac Jones at #19 though. I think that's way too early for him, but he'll be gone by the time they pick in the 2nd. He might be gone by pick #19 if you believe the mock drafts, but in my opinion that's a terrible reach. My plan would be sign Tyrod Taylor, and draft Mond in the 4th - go with T Taylor, T Heinicke, and K Mond. First four picks: #19 - Christian Darrisaw - OT #51 - Dylan Moses, - LB #74 - Terrace Marshall Jr - WR #82 - Ar'Darius Washington - S Rd 5-7: BPA |
Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
I don't understand why a few of you guys are still advocating for the team to sign Tyrod Taylor.. Taylor was once a somewhat effective QB when he was in Bills and unfortunately for Taylor Bills didn't do a good job of giving Taylor weapons to play with. He didn't do much on any other teams.. I would prefer to play Smith instead of signing Taylor if it gets to that point.

I'd take him over Fitzpatrick every day. A Smith over a guy like T Taylor? Not a chance. |

I would give up this year's first for Carr. Probably be ok with a first and a third this year too. Carr is a capable qb. |

I’d give a 1st for Carr but not another pick in the 2021 draft. I’d do a 2021 1st and 2022 4th that could become a 3rd based on performance benchmarks being met. |

Re: WFT Quarterback Thread - Post SEASON 2021
Seems like the options are getting limited. Carr likely not available.
Mariota is mobile... maybe not the long term, but a definite bridge. Is cheap too. |
