You should really do more research on Trestman. You're missing a lot
If its not on wikipedia, it didnt happen. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
How about Kosar, Gannon, Plummer, and Scott Mitchell( for his one huge year) ?
Edit: as Arizona OC they went to the playoffs for the first time since 1982, and look at what he did in 2002 with Oakland as their OC. Everywhere the guy goes there is success and offensive records are broken. He won a bowl game with NC State as their OC. This is a great hire. Edit: also BHA that list is a list of guys he prepared for the draft. Prepped for the combines. So - the fact that they were pretty much busts as first round picks sort of speaks to his genius. I mean somehow he made them look goid enough for teams to buy in. He was not their coach. Look at the QB's he coached. Seems to me that when he is around a qb they shine. Whether for the combine or for the season.
If you mean hes a genius at being a charlatan, youre right. None of the QBs you mentioned are particularly impressive either, but thats just me. Saying everywhere he goes is a success is also ridiculous.... winning a college bowl game - lol... if thats an important accomplishment, then that would make about 500 guys out there qualified to be head coaches in your opinion.
Actually winning two Grey Cups is quite meaningful. Lots of people are good OC's and QB coaches but cannot make the leap to head coach. Trestman has a track record of successfully making that leap. We should expect the Bears to lead the NFL in rouges.
He has a 1 in 8 chance of winning every year. Jim Zorn would probably win it a few times, too. The fact that he's done so twice is not remotely meaningful in the context of being an NFL head coach. Thanks to Lovie Smith, the Bears are already a great football team. I expect them to start out fairly hot, just like Zorn did when taking over for Gibbs. Within a year or two, the Lovie-effect will wear off, the Bears will decline, and Trestman will be out. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Aaron Kromer is headed to Chicago to be the OC. Won't matter because the Bears are about to go 0-16 apparently

I know you werent replying to me, but I wanted to say that I dont think so. As i said, they are a very talented team. Trestman will coast off of Lovies success for a while. I definitely see them as a 7-9 to 9-7 team in 2013, afterwhich theyll decline until Trestmans fired. I really wish the Eagles had hired him. |
Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Even though Marshall Lynch's season is over, I see several still feel the need to go Beast Mode

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
I think Trestman is one of the better offensive minds pro football has seen in the last three decades. It's a shame he's never got his opportunity to be a HC. I'm rooting for him big time.
Cowboys ST coach Joe DeCamillis taking same position with Bears whose ST coach left for same position with Chiefs
That's not a certainty. In order for DeCamillis to take the same position with another club, he has to be released from his current contract. If the Bears offered him the title of Asst Head Coach, which is a step up, than he can leave without being released from his current contract. Although I have no heartache with him leaving. |

Re: Black Monday: NFL Coaches and Executives Carousel
Kelly to the Eagles is interesting.. Should be interesting to see how his tempo plays at the NFL level. Also I'm a bit wary of the flip-flop nature of his last 3 weeks. Pettrino 2.0?
