So do you rather have a loss? Jax just killed Tennessee; a team that was penciled in to be in the playoffs just got killed by a team that was left for dead. I think in today's NFL, very few are the teams that you can say they are going to blow someone out of the water. We're not one of those teams, so just deal with it.
Never really have been aside from that beautiful 14-2 season eh wait correction 99 was a good year too lol 51-21 win over the Giants is a classic Winning is winning guys it doesn't matter how u win lol is London CRYING!? |
Campbell was manhandled in the pocket the first drive of the game. When he can set in the pocket and throw downfield, there aren't many QB's that are more accurate. I'd love to see Campbell playing behind the Raven's OL. Flacco is rarely hit, and he's not nearly as mobile as Campbell.
I partly disagree. He's accurate on some patterns. Others tend to go high on or behind the receiver, not to mention all the problems he has holding on to the ball even when he's not pressured. I am also not discounting the fact he may be nicked up. Hoping he can avoid the "Patrick Ramsey" Syndrome and be successful in this league. |
It's really sad that this is what we're pretty satisfied with though.
This win is much better than the Rams W. The O executed a perfect pass play in the Red Zone. Campbell hit a big play to Moss. Right there, that's two things we didn't see at all in the 1st win. I'm still waiting for ANY involvement of Kelly, Thomas, or Davis in the offense. It's hard to believe that those guys could be any less utilized at this point. We would have been better off drafting O-line depth with those three 2nd round picks.
Well he needs to look at more than 2 potential receivers lol
Well what if the offensive line is only giving him enough time to look at two potential receivers ? ;) You can't be successfull going 3 wide if your offensive line doesn't give you enough time to go through your progressions. I know that wasn't the case the entire game (on Talib's 3rd pick I think he had enough time and was probably just staring down Moss) but again all the mistakes he made are correctable. |

Kelly has been being utilized, albeit not as often as Cooley or Moss. Thomas and Davis might as well be ghosts. Davis seems be only used on TE screens. |

Well there were a lot of single plays that made a difference... but did we have the drives like we did vs the rams? |

He fell head first into Flacco's back. They carted him off with an apparent next/back injury. |

Great interview with Fletch on post game..this damn team has a way of reeling me back in everytime! I'm screwed!!!

I think a lot of the reason we haven't seen big games from Kelly is because he just hasn't been able to get open enough for JC to trust him. I don't know whether it's a lack of effort or just great corner play (maybe great corner play can be attributed to knowing what to expect from the coaching staff) but our 3 young guys from last year aren't getting many looks, and the looks they are getting they aren't doing anything with. JC has been targeting them (not very often) but even when he does they don't seperate, or make the play, or do anything that gives him more confidence to throw it to them. |

he couldn't even notice if they were open because he wasn't progressing
Agreed. Still think he's locking in on receivers too much. He's playing hurt and shaken. He also looks like he's thinking too much as opposed to playing. This might be the growing pains, but...At least we won. Here's to Denver putting one on Dallas. |

I'm clearly aware that he was staring down receivers but that wasn't the entire case. In case you failed to notice the offensive line wasn't exactly picking up Tampa Bay's d the entire game. Time for me to ask if you were watching the game? They were getting pressure on him. It's not just JC. It's JC, the o-line, the wide receivers aren't getting open. Why do you think the backs and tight ends had so many receptions? When nothing's opening up that's where he goes with the ball. |
Well there were a lot of single plays that made a difference... but did we have the drives like we did vs the rams?
Are you saying that you actually prefer long drives that end in FGs? I'll take a quick strike to Moss for a long TD any day. And the Cooley TD came at the end of a 10 play drive, which was as solid as any vs. the Rams, with the emphasis on FINISHING.

Re: Week 4: Redskins vs. Buccaneers Gameday Thread
it's better than losing the game we got to work on a lot things. The third int by JC i believe was suppose to duplicate the td pass to moss but it didn't happen. If we know anything about JC we know he doesn't throw into double coverage often i believe that was Zorn forcing a play. JC still played bad he needs to work on his mechanics and reads.
I think so too. I said that earlier in the thread. On the NFL: Tutledge of a QB thread. You hear Zorn telling Moss. "We got 4 plays drawn up for you". Why not jsut draw up the plays and not tell JC who to throw the ball to and let him make the decisions. I think JC was forcing stuff because of the pressure from the fans and everyone else. There is still no excuse. But they shouldn't draw up plays for certain receivers. If they are doing their job they will get teh ball. We need to spread it out and no focus on one receiver. if so. Why did we draft the do-nothing-triplets..lol. Malcom, Devin and Fred..lol. They just need to let JC play his game. Then at the end of the season we can decide on what we are going to do. ARE was doing good the first 2 games. But I guess they phased him out. We need to spread the ball around a lot more. Whoever gets the pass gets the pass. WTF JC step your game up buddy. I rather you dump it off than throw 3 ints. |
Re: Week 4: Redskins vs. Buccaneers Gameday Thread
I like how on post game that Blache said that the INT by D.Hall has the potential to turn the entire season around. I like that attitude.

I think he is locking on because he doesn't trust those other guys (for good reason. If that is the case we can atleast get ARE back into the fold like he was the first two games. He has disappeared. I think we shoud move Mitchell up since Malcom is not producing. Use Kelly on more third down situations. Its worth a try. Cooley is the only one who is consistent all 4 games. I just think the coaching staff needs to scheme for multiple players on a play and not zone in on Moss. Its like we can't get two receivers going at a time. Not including Cooley. |

Sounds like jason has his head in the right place now
Yeah I think he does. I think in the first half it was more of him trying to do everything himself and force things and he had a bad first half. Second was much better. But he definitely needs to improve. I hope this is a turn around game. |

In his defense, Mason dropped 3 balls on the last 3 plays, including a beautifully thrown fade for the go-ahead TD. We desperately need one of the young WRs to step up. Perhaps it is time to give Marco a chance.

You should move Thomas out before Kelly. Thomas hasn't done anything of value this year. I agree though Mitchell has to get in the game. |

Exactly. It was preseason but it seemed like he scored a touchdown a game. Like I said its preseason. But obviously he has a nose for the end zone and probably is a lot quicker than Kelly. Which could result in more separation and a easier target for Campbell. I think the coach is scared to ruffle feathers. I would use Kelly on thrid down situations and red zone situations along with Mitchell. But Mitchell seemed a lot crisper in his routes during the preseason. Kelly was good at getting first downs but not a scorign threat. |

I would pump Malcom to 4th behing ARE and Devin to fifth and also put devin back on kick returns because we are getting nothing there. Moss Mitchell ARE Kelly Thomas Malcom is not playing well. He has good hands but doesn't create separation like he should. The rap on him ws he was slow. Maybe there is some truth to this. |
Re: Week 4: Redskins vs. Buccaneers Gameday Thread
Got this off wikipedia when I typed in Jason Campbell.
2009 Despite pursuing other quarterbacks in the off season, the Redskins were unable to come to terms with Cutler or Sanchez, and thus opted to start Campbell for the last year of his current contract. Jason Campbell is widely considered to be the worst quarterback in the NFL today, he confirms this on a weekly basis. |

Do you really think he can go through his progressions in the 2 1/2 seconds before the pocket breaks down? Plays do need time to develop. We obviously aren't a quick strike kinda team where we can just attack right off the snap and move the ball quickly down the field. |
