We need to be able to run the ball consistantly. The first half we really got away from it after the early long drive. McNabb needs to throw the ball better to, think he was only like 50% on his attempts. I did think the line played pretty damn well, especially with protection outside of Rabauch.
But the drop passes bullsh*t needs to end...Moss, Sellers, Armstrong (X3) had pretty bad drops
No big deal, but we would never have won this game with Campbell as QB given the pressure Dallas was bringing. And yes, we had almost a zero running game tonight. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Thanks tryfuuhl... Hmmm... So not playing a player helps "prevent injuries"? Guess I missed the postgame.

MS was rotating o-linemen. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
A win is a win is a win, especially over the roids. They lost because they didn't take us seriously--that BS at the end of the half won us the game.
Decent D, lackluster O (though the cowboys have a pretty good D, folks), up and down S teams. Obviously, we need to play better. But man, imagine how you'd feel if they missed that hold at the end???? Sure, the cowboys gave us a gift, but in our recent history, we find a way to give it back. I'll take it. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Who was the idiot on NBC dissing Danny's team? The best NFC team I saw today was GB.

Still, we're having offensive problems that haven not gone away overnight and somewhat similar to last year. The offense has a lot of work to do, and making a switch at QB is not the only remedy. |
If Orakpo doesn't get held.. Romo hits the dirt... He got held for a godo 2 seconds.
Ofcourse he was held all night by BOTH OT's... It was rediculous.. I can't believe it wasn't called more.. I sometimes thinks Wade has the T's to block that way because isn't it wierd that Adams and this tool both lead the league with holds and shit? Totally stupid... Orakpo should of had atleast 2 sacks tonight
Cowpukes are one of the "top dogs" in the NFL hierarchy. Refs are biased in favor of them. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I thought he made a slight difference when he was in. I have no FAITH in our other d-lineman. I think the entire d-line needs to learn this 3-4, and once they all get it (including AH), they will be a better unit with AH.
But will AH stay on board long enough. He looked ready to blow a few times, and looked pissed at the end of the game. I just don't know if he will be on board for this thing for the long haul. He could turn into a bigger problem. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
carter looks way too slow to be playing lb though imo. haynesworth didnt play well. doughty didnt play well. havent noticed any of our down linemen besides haynesworth who didnt play well as i said, but i guess in the 34 you dont notice linemen as much.
thought landry was very good, so were hall and rogers except for his hands of stone at the end. fletcher and rocky were solid i thought. the o-line was very good and moss and cooley did their parts for the most part. portis tried hard but we still need more from the running game, must say his blocking was crucial though. anthony armstrong was disappointing. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Let's also remember guys Dallas has a very good D. Yeah our offense needs work of course, but Dallas had something to do with our struggles too.

Yeah I'll worry more about our o if we're not scoring points 3 weeks from now. |

I still think he doesn't fit this scheme, actually a lot of players don't. Even still, I think he's a better player than Kemo, Golston, or Carriker. AH needs to play well, so does the team. I say let's make him a starter and let him play. |

Agreed, it just struck me how McNabb was able to make things happen when the roof was caving in. He obviously is not the complete answer for success, but I sure as hell like what he can do over his predecessor. |

Well, we're going against another good defense in the Texans, so we better step up. I think we'll need to pass and take advantage of the Texans secondary if we are to win this game. Also, our run game needs to be better. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Things will improve when Kareem Moore returns.
|
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
#5 once he gets this thing down is going to be great. We get him that running game, and he has some more time with the WRs and he will dominate at times. Please do not say he is the problem. Hell he is the solution.
what an amazing lucky break we got...but I'll take it. We've been unlucky long enough, time for luck to go our way for a change.
I agree ... it was definitely more COWBOYS LOSE than REDSKINS WIN... but... don't forget people.... Game would have been won fair and square if CARLOS ROGERS COULD CATCH!! Does he need contacts?? Seriously! On the replay the ball hit his wrist!! It didn't even hit his hands?? So yes... we got lucky on the two plays at the end of the halves... but a cornerback has to catch that INT and the game is over. |

also...
As soon as we can pass the ball well... and run the ball well... we'll have a good offense! lol |

Oh most definitely. I think DMc will def improve as he gets more reps with the WRs. Although, I'd like to see another WR step up. Armstrong could still be it...I just don't think he was the best choice for for those back-to-back play. I hope DT has played his way into the lineup with those good returns. |

I think the offensive line problem is well on its way of being fixed. The big problem that is going to take a season or two more is the WR problem we have. DT did well on returns, but we simply don't have anyone that can catch the ball other than Moss and Cooley. What happened with Seller's hands? Armstrong sucked tonight. We also need to start thinking about really replacing CP in a couple years. |

basically extended time was causing Brown to strain his hip in the pre-season, etc... Shanahan also said that Lichtensteiger and Dock was a close competition in preseason, not sure what he saw that I missed, but he was there more.. |

Why don't we turn Davis into a possession receiver? I know he's not a deep threat, but he could be that move the chains guy. Yeah CP is not the same, he had some good runs...but we gotta think about the future as well. I mean I hope Williams breaks out, but right now we don't have a back of the future. |

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
Rogers officially has the worst hands in NFL history. That ball was gift wrapped and you could see him close his hands before it even hit him. Dude just can't catch for shit.

Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
There is no such thing as the "back of the future" anymore guys.. Backs dont last long, and it's all about NOW...
At ebst a good back lasts 5 years no adays, and Portis is the best back we have, and he's good one.. Anyone could see tonight that Dallas was crushing us up front when it came to the run game, most of our runs they had a blitz called, and Portis had NO room to run... |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
I have new found respect for Miles Austin. I knew he was good but part of me wondered if he was a one year wonder. He proved tonight that he deserves to be considered as a top 5 receiver, all he has to do now is keep it up, though I obviously hope he slows down.
Both Rogers and Landry could have ended the game. It's more on Rogers, 'cause he was going up for that ball. I know the saying is if it hits you, then you should catch it, but it would have been remarkable had he made that play. |
Re: Week 1: Redskins vs. Cowboys, Game-Day Thread
One encouraging sign...
Anybody wanna talk about that kick by Gano?? Holy crap that was dead center and into the NET from 49 yards... We might not have a punter STILL... but hopefully maybe a kicker... fingers crossed & knocking on wood! |

Haslett needs to spray some stick 'em on this guy's hand. Yeah, you couldn't have asked for a better throw by Romo. |

Landry was playing the receiver and the receiver flubbed.. he was lucky he was even able to stop so where it hit him low.. the ball found him more than anything else.. and it sure as hell wasn't at his hands |

That's the one thing that killed me, mentioned it in the csn chat.. closing hands early.. I mean part of me says typical Los and part of it says who knows if the lights came in.. we'll see if he drops it on a route jump before I give a full opinion |
